Many thanks to Mooosicle, Sparhawk and Dimmerswitch for an amazing run through No Mercy tonight, despite all the technical difficulties. Good times!

That was just loads of fun and hilarity last night. Including my bad Molotov cocktails. Aim seemed to be off at times ;)

Yeah, I had quite a few of mine go awry too. I blame rustiness and beer though.

I am in awe of tboon taking several full clips to the groin while reviving me, but not realizing that perhaps I intended him harm.

I think he enjoyed it....

Played for versus for the first time in a long time last night, was a lot of fun. Is there still an active group?

Oh definitely. Seems to be mainly a weekend thing but last night there I think 4-5 games in a row (gets a bit fuzzy - I think I played 4 but I was not in the first). Still sometimes get lopsided matches but last night each was very close. Great times. Thanks to all who joined (even at 3:00 am EST! Yeesh!).

I played co-op No Mercy this week with some buddies from work. I was the only one to make it to the chopper at the end, natch.

It reminded me how long I've been without a good GWJ versus match. Invite me if I'm online!

I'm always up for a match, though I'll only join if I won't be bothering anyone in the house by being on voice chat. That tends to be what prevents me from playing.

Sent you an invite.

Nice. Cheeba mentioned an announcement had gone out, is there a group? I failed in finding it on Steam if there is.

*edit*

That was fast! I'm in, thanks!

Can you send me one too Hyetal? I got purged in the great L4D Goodjer purge of '11. I long to hear your dulcet tones of exasperation when I do yet another dumb thing in the game.

You got it, bud.

Gracias!

Left 4 Dead 2 is free today*. You need to download the game, and it's yours. The community page is being hammered by this tho... Tell your friend.

*today ends at 10est on the 26 of december 2013.

Big GWJ community L4D session coming up?

When?

Downloading. I had no other experience with L4D than couple of levels back when the first one came out, so I'd love to team up with some other newbies.

The game is good. Good enough to kill Steam.

I've been in a bit of a versus mood the past week so if anyone wants to get a game going at night give me a yell.

Anyone want to do a co-op run on Sunday night around 8-9 EST? I've been wanting to play this for ages. My steam tag is Octacon100, or McStabWithLies.

I might be interested. I never started L4D2 in earnest when it came out and I've been too nervous to join the semi-regular get together.

Great! I'll see if I can find you on Steam.

Your best bet for getting into the VS games is joining the GWJ L4D steam group. Announcements from that are used when forming up VS or coop lobbies. Do not feel you need to be 'leet', or a leet, for that matter.

In fact you can downright stink at times, as I can attest from my own performance, and yet I get invited back.

Wow, that's quite a change, the group was incredibly hostile to newcomers when I was there.

Are you talking about the 'evilseed booting dozens of people' incident way back when? That was one guy with good intentions, and horrible execution.

I've been with GWJ and this since its release, and aside from an in-game misunderstanding here and there, people have been nothing but welcoming.

Malor, haven't a clue what you are talking about. I've played close to two thousand hours between Left4Dead and Left4Dead2. At no point could the 'group' (I'm assuming this refers to the GWJer members of the L4D steam group) be characterized as anything less than polite, friendly and inclusive. Certainly nothing that could be described as hostile to any skill levels.

Yeah when I was but a noob, everyone was entirely friendly with advice and tactics. Even now I still don't know a couple of the maps so I still ask for help and people are super-nice. Last weekend I forget who it was that jumped on a guy with the jockey (for those that don't know, the jockey is a special zombie that, once you've jumped on a survivor, can move him in the direction that you want) and all of a sudden he breaks into song on voice, "come with me! and you'll be! in a world of pure imagination!"

I mean come on. How can you not love a game in which the zombies sing to you while killing you?

Huh, I never got into L4D 1 or 2, just cuz I couldn't rationalize spending a fair amount of money on a game I couldn't commit to in the social and multiplayer side. But since getting this free for the Winter sale, I was thinking about checking it out if anyone was still around and playing. I have my PC hooked up to my TV, so I play most PC games with controller, so I might be too much a über noob for anyone that's left playing. But if not, I might try to hop on and dabble with folk tonight. Vent the best way to find anyone still?

I might be late, forgot I had a dinner reservation tonight. Will contact you on Steam when I'm home and ready.

Might you possibly be thinking of Team Fortress?
