Mounts in WoW = Teh suq.

I am not fond of games that say they feature "mounts" when they are nothing more than taxi cabs. Are there any mounts that are like real mounts?

I know they have the ability to have "pet" biotes that grow with the players. They should create the assets so we can have real pets that grow with you.

NO MORE TAXI CABS IN GAMES!

/rant off.

DISCLAIMER: if they have real pets, ignore this post.

At level 40 I thought the mounts you get are like normal mounts. Of course that is level 40 but I think they do have them.

Ah. Ok. I''m level 18.

90 gold and level 40 and you will have your real mount.

In the mean time be glad those taxi rides are available so you don''t have to trot across entire continents to get somewhere.

Yes, at level 40 you get a ""real"" mount that you can ride anywhere, not just point A to B like the gryphons.

Uh...though the mounts do not grow in any way like Pets...ala Hunters.

They are simply for transport. You cannot engage in combat cast spells etc...

You can talk to NPC''s and Buy/Sell though.

Can you use the AH on the mount (since you can talk/sell)? If you can, that is awesome.

Nope. Auction houses are considered indoors, hence you get off the mount automatically.

Auction houses are considered indoors

That is strange since Ironforge isn''t considered indoors and you can ride them in there.

But I don''t think you can go into the IF buildings on a mount curb, like try to go into the bank or a shop.

I''m glad that non-building parts of IF are ""indoors"". That place is massive!

IronForge seems really big with the high ceilings and giant statues, especially if you''re a dwarve. I like it more than Undercity''s concentric circle design.

Makes sense and you are right a7an, without a mount in IF, running would suck.

Well, thank god for aspect of the cheetah is all I got to say.

I can''t wait till 40 but they aren''t that much faster than me now. Though faster is faster and I will take all the speed I can get.

*sigh* I miss my SS in CoH

Mounts = 30% faster than aspect of cheetah. A big difference when crossing a large zone I would think. Not to mention you get stunned for 4 seconds if hit with aspect, but not on am mount. I am still jealous though.

I just noticed that Hunters get a group Aspect at 40, ohhhhh Cope!!!

Mounts are handy but I still use my Ghost Wolf form which gives 40% speed adjustment because it allows me to still get herbs for my potions...

Which is handy when I''m doing a reagent run.. having to click off the mount and reclick it everytime I see a plant is annoying.

But the 20% speed difference is huge when you have to run across larger zones.

I like the functionality of mounts better in EQ2 but WoW has more character with the different mount types.

I feel bad for the people who don''t have SOME sort of travel bonus. Paladins and Warlocks get free mounts. Hunters get Aspect of the Cheetah, and Druids get their travel form, both MUCH earlier than their friends. Also, Mages get teleport, which I count as a travel power.

But Warriors? Shamans? Priests? Rogues? Where''s the love?

That doesn''t sound right.. After I get off a boat and start running down a dock, even with Aspect of Cheetah on I always get passed by other players on mounts. Hmmmm, this might be worth checking out to see what the benefits to each are.

Can''t rogues at least sprint every so often?

I have a mage and it does stink plodding along. I am not familiar with teleport yet so not sure how that pans out but yes travel powers are great to have.

Shamans get Ghost Wolf at 20

Priests really need something since they are underplayed as it is. Maybe free mount at 40 would entice more healers...

I think warriors would like alot of things changed before they got a speed buff. And rogues are cool enough as it is

Ack, that sucks. I''m not even close to having a mount but I can see how annoying this will be when I do, and being a rogue I have no travel form to fall back on.

Yeah, rogues get sprint but it doesn''t last long is only really good for escaping from aggros.

I worded it wrong I guess.

Aspect = 30% speed boost
Non-epic mount = 60% speed boost.

There is the 30% difference.

So far as a mage teleporting hasn''t been extremely useful. You have to have a regeant that costs approximately 9 silvers, and you have level requirements in order to warp to certain places.

For example, I was in Darnasus at level 29 and couldn''t learn the portal there until 30. So now I have to make a special trip out there again to learn it.

I have my hearthstone set to Ironforge so the only portal spell that I have that I could actually use is Stormwind, which is realistically just a short tram ride away from IF. I guess if I really needed to get to SW super fast it would be useful.

Maybe later once you are able to port your group along with you it will be used more.

I do use Blink when travelling. Not sure how much it helps, but it makes me feel like I''m moving faster.

Trust me, it helps. Leaping smokes my ass across a zone when he blinks the whole way.

Honestly, I never think it''s that bad going from zone to zone, once you get good at knowing where to go, and having all the griffon points plotted out. Where *I* get pissed is running within a zone - for instance, back and forth from Darkshire to that Cemetery in Northwest Duskwood. Such an annoying walk.

I agree that walking isn''t the worst thing but it will be a huge advantage in PvP to have a mount.

Wait until you get to Stranglethorn Warlock. Going from Booty Bay to the camps at the top, that run is even worse. And you probably haven''t gotten to the zones yet that don''t even have flight points...

Blink does help, I can out-travel anyone on foot with it using normal runs, and keep up with hunter''s and their speed, but can''t keep up with mounts due to the cooldown.

Hunter''s have group speed at 40? Awesome! Cope and Vorcha get over here!

But yeah, walking is not that bad. You can get pretty much anywhere within 5 minutes or so as long as you are within a zone or two. But ohh, I remember the pain of walking to Desolace for the first time from Auberdine. That was a lot more than five minutes. Then I did it again when I escorted Curb.

you know it!

I saw a gnome riding one of the little mechanical chickens for the first time last night. It was the cutest thing ever. Makes me want to start up an Alliance Gnome character just to get a riding chicken.

I love thinking like that (and I do it all the time)..

""I want to do X, so I get get Y!!""

Then you realize that''s a month of solid gameplay before you''d even HAVE said thing.

""I want to play a druid. Dire Bear form looks awesome!""

""I want to play a warlock. That Fel Steed is cool!""
