Various WoW Screenies

Hey guys I downloaded all three UI''s plus some others and made them into one. It took a little time but it works. All I did was mix and match directories in the AddOns folder. Tonite I will zip up my Interface directory and you guys can copy it to yours and see how you like it. Be sure to back up your directory first.

The only error I have with it is I get that error box when I first start the game. This is the only time it happens so its not a big deal. The other issue I have is I can''t turn off the feature in the options where you say you are low on mana or health. But this can be remedied with whatever the proper / command is.

Awesome, you da man!

That is very cool.

I turn on the option to yell out HEAL ME! do people not like this?

Awesome, thanks Opti!

I was using that but it seemed that the animation caused me to stop fighting for a second so I turned it off after a while.

I don''t, but then again I don''t have any way to heal Eezy.

I was in a pick-up group once with a priest and whenever I would get low I would just type ""heal"", not an auto-shout or anything. After a few times she yelled at me ""you know that''s really annoying you calling out heal all the time, I see your bar it just takes a few second for my spells to go off"". Of course in the next fight I didn''t call out and I died...

I''ve noticed that too but I''m still not sure how I''d remedy it. On the one hand when I''m in a decent group (GWJ folks) I never even get low enough for it to go off, unless we''re wiping but by that point we''re F''d anyway. On the other when I solo it has come in handy a couple of times when strangers have helped out while I''m being aggrod to death.

Maybe I''ll go leapings route and make a macro for ""/p heal pls""

I generally don''t mind heal requests as long as people don''t go crazy. You don''t need a heal if you are at 149/150ths of your health.

I generally look at two things when deciding the heal order: 1)Total health remaining and 2)Speed at which health bar is currently going down. Eezy''s tough warrior is OK at half health while Leaping''s Mage is in serious trouble if he pulls two mobs when he starts spamming ""Greater Nuclear Meltdown"". Leaping''s health will start going down in 25% hunks.

I have been reading the Priest boards on the off chance that you guys ever ask me to group again. The general concensus is that ""Renew"" (a HoT) is the best spell ever, and that Power Word: Shield should hardly ever be used because of it''s Mana drain. That is counter to my experience so far. Renew is only good on tanks, other classes take damage to fast against same level mobs. I don''t have the ""renew boosting"" talent. People like it because it is mana-friendly, is inst-cast and generates threat over time, rather than all at once. I think that Renew is pretty situational so far. Maybe I should spec it out?

In the situation above (Leap smashing time), I usually throw a Shield on. This keeps the mage from dying and more importantly let''s him cast some spells to defend himself (poly). For those that don''t know, Power Word: Shield absorbs X amount of damage over 30 secs. It allows the recipient to cast spells without interruption. Shield causes major hate, but I am usually am in groups that are pretty good about protecting the Priest, if they aren''t I leave.

Priests also have a spell called ""Fade"" which reduces mob hate for a period of time. This is effective in helping the Priest lose aggro to the tank in a group setting, but useless soloing. Be advised that the big heals DO take some time. 5.5 secs.

<Priest Rant>

I still kind of find it hard to group. I am coming up on 30 and it still seems like people are ""priest shy"". There aren''t very many of us. Groups seem to be able to get by with a Paladin or Druid just fine. Soloing is such a pain. I have to go -1 level usually and if I pull two equal level mobs I am forced to ""fear and run"". It makes questing, especially collection quests, PAINFULLY slow. I think rather than getting quests and trying to find groups doing the same quest I am going to start finding groups and ask them to share the quest they are doing. I wish more people would realize that a Warrior/Priest combo is pretty much unstoppable. Everytime I get a good warrior to duo with me, we lay waste to anything in our path with 0 downtime.

Also, Priest have gotten the metagame shaft. We have very little game content. I have had 3 ""class quests"" 1 was at level 5 or so and the ones at 10 and 20 were ""go talk to the head trainer"". Whoopie. We do get a race-based spell, that is pretty cool. We also don''t get anything cool at lvl 40. For every other class this is a biggie, Mail, Plate, Warhorse, Portals, etc. Priests don''t get jack.

Also, Alchemy still sucks. I can''t skill up to Greater Healing Potion, which seems to be the only one anyone wants. I have hit a wall around 155. Everything I need to skill up takes some goofy fish or Stranglekelp which is a Female Doggo to gather.

BTW, you can fish in the holy fountain in front of the priest HQ in IF.

</priest rant>

If and OB or CB priests want to give me some pointers I am all ears, especially about the talent allocation. I haven''t been exactly haphazard, but I am walking the line between solo talents and group talents. I haven''t put 1 point in shadow, and I have skipped the Holy AoE nuke. Is that worth it? It seemed kind of silly, because if I wanted a Nuker I would play a mage, but it would be nice to have another damage spell and I bet the animation is cool.

To derail this thread further, I wanted to comment on JimmDogg''s comments about the priest.

I started one up, at level 14... what a PITA it is to level compared to my paladin. I just tried soloing ''Hogger'', a level 11 elite at level 14 and got creamed on. The reason I started one is simply because there are very few in game and I have started noticing that my mana can''t keep up with my heal spells on my paladin. I hope that that''s some consolidation to you JimmDogg. Problem with grouping is that most of the quests lend itself to a solo nature. It''s only in instants does the need for a priest probably become real apparent.

I have no advice to give since this is the first time I''ve played a true healing class. I''ve also read that HoT and shield is great. I haven''t come across the fact that shield is a mana drain. So far, my talent specced is getting that shield spell recast thing reduced.

As for alchemy, I also hit that wall that you''re talking about on Fiddler. All I did was swim around in Wetlands and the NE Land (zone south of Auberdine) to get stranglekelp to get past that. Don''t know what else to tell you.

Like many games...The True Healer class doenst come into its own until the later stages of the game.

The Backup Healers will be fine for probably up to level 45-48 then your going to suddenly see an extreme ramp up to where good Priests will be in high demand.

Look at the first 2/3rds of the game as fine tuning your group skills and in the end you''ll be greatly rewarded by being the most desired class in a good group.

I do like that Blizzard chose to make the Priests as fragile as Mages.. unlike EQ which goes the more traditional route of making the main healer fairly well armored.

This method ensures that backup healers like Druids, Shamans, and Paladins will still be in demand simply for their ability to keep the Priest alive.

In EQ Verant was forced to do some goofy things to keep the hybrids viable in the latter stages of the game and in many ways it never truely worked.

Also, Alchemy still sucks. I can''t skill up to Greater Healing Potion, which seems to be the only one anyone wants. I have hit a wall around 155. Everything I need to skill up takes some goofy fish or Stranglekelp which is a Female Doggo to gather.

Look around..I to sorta hit a wall and was forced to gather stranglekelp and fish for Oily Blackmouth and Deviant Fish to make stupid potions.. but once you hit G Heal and Mana and Ogre Str. your skill will increase very fast.

Once you get over 200 you quickly ramp into Superior Heal and Greater Mana and then its cruise control from there.

I can make the Greater Healing potion, but finding that damn life root is a pain. To get over that hump around 140 to 150 I fished up firefin fish and brewed a lot of fire oil.

Really? Liferoot is all over the Wetlands. I just put 20 greater heals in the Auction this morning from liferoot I gathered while doing Wetlands quests last night.

Dont priests get some serious nukes?

Dont they get a channeling nuke like the mages arcane missiles?

Hmm... I always envied the priest a little since druid nukes are weak. We have powerful damage spells but they take time.

I guess I had always hoped that the early gameplay for the priest would remain the same throughout all the levels. When I grouped my young priest with some tanks, I didnt need to heal at all. I just shielded the one getting beat on and maybe cast a heal over time to top him off at the end of the fight. Our group absolutely trounced things this way.

Mages are a serious mana drain when soloing, maybe priests are meant to as well. And hence they need to bring water along with them to replenish between fights.

I am very thankful my druid has a variety of efficient skills and spells. Thats probably why I enjoy playing her so much.

Looks like I''ll be heading over to Wetlands then, thanks.

Just thought I would post a pic of my cat getting seasick on the boat to Auberdine.

Part of a big PvP fight near South Shore. Hmm, no enemies in sight. They''re either all dead or I''m hiding in the back....

I don''t think many people actually make it there or hang out there, leading to its emptiness.

My contribution...you don''t see this everyday!!!

That is cool Guru. I''ll post a pic of my little gnome later today.

Im sorry I know some people say this is a graphically inferior game but the art direction and texture quality of WoW continues to amaze me with some truely breathtaking areas...

Me personally I think it was a smart idea for Blizzard to go with low poly graphics... .it allowed them to create MASSIVE and I mean Massive areas with little or no lag.. I really get the sense of majesty and wonderment that I never got with EQ.

What I don''t understand to this day are devs that put more of a focus on poly''s over texturing. With textures everything just looks so much better. HL2, and/or Riddick wouldn''t have looked half as good if the devs didn''t put a emphasis on textures.

Most devs are not as smart as Blizz''s I guess.

Its because ""less poly''s with well thought out textures"" is not a marketting buzzword or catch phrase.

All I can say is, in about an hours time I had climbed that huge mountain in the barrens and gone done the elevators to 1000 Needles. These two areas probably share the same texture base buts it amazing when you see a worlds version of the grand canyon and think of it as the frikkin grand canyon. There is a huge variation in landscape and it is beautiful.

Maraudon Instance Zone.

Awesome Instance.. One of my favorite times in WoW so far.
