It will [also be] a “wrap up” release of the entire Distant Worlds series in one affordable package (with an upgrade path for existing customers).

Ha, I knew that if I picked up the game (I grabbed the whole set) they would announce the package version soon.

So far, I'm still slogging my way through my first (mostly) hands-off game. I set up the game to be fairly forgiving, which means that it is also a bit boring so I may bail and start again. I haven't been playing that long but can see the whole galaxy. There are very few wars, and those mostly involve the insects & Mortalens, none of whom are near me. I seem to be breezing through the tech tree, since I can constantly trade techs with a handful of very friendly neighbors. I only have a few colonies, but for some reason have the biggest economy & fleet.

Between that experiment and watching a lot of Das videos I have high hopes.

I'm quite curious to see what they'll add content wise. I generally don't mess with mods in distant words. That said if the speed up the engine I'd be pretty happy (chugs are large maps with lots of ships for me).

New Univese Screenshots!!

So pretty want now plz!

First couple shots were nice looking, but that's not really The Game. The Game looks the same too me.

I'm starting to think that Distant Worlds 2 with an updated UI is what I'm looking for now. I'm tired of the way this looks. /snob

Do you guys think they will do a "Gold" edition ? Like 1 pack to get it all ?

Yeah, it is still on my radar... I just went slow on the Pc gaming lately.

The next release is a "gold" edition.

a few more days left in march... wonder if it might be only available in April. Could be a gift from me to me for my b-day

Ill be out in late April or May, and it is an all in one edition.

Damn this thread! Now I want to play Distant Worlds!

*fires up a windowed version of it next to a windowed Crusader Kings 2*

This should be fun

Gonna be patient.

Page to buy the game : http://www.matrixgames.com/products/... (No prepurchase yet, no price information as of this post.)

Seconded - I haven't played since several expansions ago, but I'd love a DW2, so long as it had a larger font.

Oi, lookit, I did a thing!

Finally. Now, hopefully, it sells like gangbusters.

This is so bought. Of ccourse what an I going to complain about now? Great news and I hope it sells like crazy.

And only a sawbuck for the dedicated fans! I was expecting at least $20.

EDIT: I'm almost tempted to go for the physical for $20 just for the printed manual.

Me too!!! More people need to play Distant Worlds!

Damn, I regret not picking Shadows up on sale. I guess I better buy it soon.

I didn't run the numbers myself, but you might want to check the math. Since Universe is all-inclusive, it might not matter price-wise. You'll be spending $25 to save $10 on Universe.

Just thought I'd point out Universe is coming out on my bday.

You're all welcome for this gift of DW I bring to you,

Oh, thanks for making me read that again, I misunderstood the first read. Looks like it's a $10 discount per owned title. So I'll wait and get it all for $20.

I honestly did not see that coming. I wonder why Matrix finally decided to support Steam.

Well this changes things dramatically.

They probably like money.

I concur. I'm encouraged that they seem to be coming around. With Pandora: First Contact (a fine, well-supported SMAC-Like) and Distant Worlds both coming to Steam so close together, I'm hopeful to see more.

Is this really an awesome 4x game? Never really heard of it.

Once it clicked for me, it is freaking amazing. It took the Shadows expansion. The pre-warp empire is just enough to help get a feel for the game without being completely overwhelming. That was where I was able to get a feel for the different automation options before being thrust into the galaxy, and the eleventybillion popups, things needing my attention and so on.

Completely worth it in my book, especially now that they have an all in one pack.

Well, they're going to get mine.
