The Keys To Happiness - a Steam & Origin (and Desura!) key giveaway and trading thread

I have a coupon for Velocity Ultra, 20% off on Steam if anyone is interested. It expires on February 1.

Anyone want a copy of Joe Danger 2? It's a lot of fun ... almost like a modern-day Excite Bike. Just send me a PM, no grinders please.

Claimed!

I'll throw my lot on the pile:

Humble:

Edna & Harvey: Harvey's New Eyes
Worms Blast
Dwarfs!?
Zeno Clash
Little Inferno
Jack Lumber

PM me if interested

(edited to remove claimed games)

Does anyone have got a Battlefield 3 Key for me? I would love to get it, because i am sick of Battlefield 4, too many lags and bugs

Is anyone else getting PM spammed with Coffee Grinder requests for keys that were listed ages ago?

As a matter of fact.... [looks up a couple posts].

Aaron D. wrote:

Yes, by the guy who posted just above you, and others have told me the same thing (in chat). I PM'ed Certis about him. He's probably just collecting keys to resell elsewhere. Same guy has done this before in the past, and been banned. He asks for BF3 keys in PM's even if you don't list BF3 as one of your available games.

I'd like to re-emphasize to everyone, please don't give keys to coffee grinders for this reason. Too many people out there google 'free keys' and then collect the keys and resell them on ebay or whatever.

Yeah asked by the guy above as well. Sucks as I was once a coffee grinder that received keys from this community and have since tried to give back. Would be nice if we could just trust people.

Lol, i do not want to sell keys xD I just have seen this thread and wanted to give it a try...well it seems like this thread is a giveaway for the community of the forum. It is forbidden to ask? I do not think so...
I am a member of this forum as well. I am just a guy who like to play some games (i haven't got a lot) and who stumbled over this thread and this forum...

And if a key is claimed you could have cancled it out of your list, then you would not get so many requests...

And who said that i would not give away some keys in the future if i got any i do not need!

And now i will get reported, because i did nothing...really bad example for trying to get some new members into the forum... You could have asked why i would like to have some keys, but no, i get reported without a reason... although it is in your hand which person you like to give a key.

[quote] No coffee grinders, sorry.

Ah well, just because the creator of the thread said you should not give a key to a coffee grinder everybody has to respect this law.... interesting....what a kind of discrimination!

Remember everybody has been a coffee grinder in this forum... they are members that maybe need some help... instead they aren't involved in actions like a giveaway, get reported because of doing nothing criminal and nobody trusts them...

Please think first before you do something.

Yeah seems like this forum died for me

Good luck for the future!
Bye

It's not that you specifically cannot be trusted, it's just that before asking for keys or any of us are willing to give them away, it's nice to know that they are given to trusted members of the community who will use them and not resell for profit. This is a great place to hang out and there are some awesome people. Browse the threads, contribute to some conversations, and enjoy!

EDIT: And blah, no idea why my quotes aren't working. I apparently need more sleep to figure this out

It's not just you, Requaii. So no harm was meant by my post above.

I received other PM requests for codes today from Coffee Grinders who had only been registered on the site for hours or days.

I just thought it was kind of funny because I put my codes up for offer weeks ago and all at once I'm getting requests today from recently-registered users with no posting history.

Apologies if you had no nefarious intent with your request. Perhaps it was just bad timing.

Also, if someone goes back and edits a post, it sets that as the most recent post in the thread, which can get confusing. We typically don't do it if it's been more than a few posts back.

Meh. Methinks the lady doth protest too much.

Heck, he hit me up for a key in a PM and I've only had one post in this thread ( now two ) - and ironically, it was about how it wouldn't take Rave long to go from Coffee Grinder to Intern

Yes, Everyone was a coffee grinder once, agreed. And the ones that participate in the forum go on to lose that title, and become intern, etc. You were spamming a LOT of inboxes with requests for free games with an account that was a few hours old. What do you expect people to think?

You are most welcome to hang around, participate in the community, and become part of the regulars. No one here is out to get you. We have the 'no coffee grinders' thing because we prefer to give our free games to each other, as opposed to hit 'n run drive by's that ask for free games then leave. And trust me that's happened plenty in the past.

Please think first before you do something.

Consider taking your own advice.

Your reply post alone tells me you are only here for keys. Sorry bud.

(NSFW, language)

That reminds me, I've got the following keys for any non coffee grinder who wants them.

Mirror’s Edge
Dead Space 1
C&C: Alert 3 Uprising
Trine 2 Complete
Eets Munchies
Brutal Legend

They're from bundles so I'm sure everyone has them, but just in case.

This.

Anyone who sticks around graduates from being a grinder. Simple as that. Even a light poster like me leaves the grinder tag behind. It's about participation, not discrimination.

I'd happily give to a Grinder... Provided they had a donator icon.

Or to a grinder that doesn't seem totally shady.

I got the spam too. Pass.

maverickz wrote:

I do not have Eets and have always wanted a copy.

I only have a Bioshock key to throw back in to the pool

El-Producto wrote:

Yep, this. I got spammed too.

Yeah, I thought the Coffee Grinder stipulation was kind of odd at first, but based on this little episode it makes a ton of sense now.

Anyway, to steer back on track I've got Steam keys for Alan Wake and Alan Wake: American Nightmare to pass along to a non-Grinder or Grinder with a donation icon. Both games are stand-alone so you don't need AW to run AW:AN.

For what it's worth, I got PM'd by a coffee grinder for one of my spare copies of Pixel Junk Eden during the winter sale. Hadn't seen he was a coffee grinder, he was asking for the code, so I replied it was a giftable Steam copy, so he needed to friend me up.

Interestingly enough, he never replied, and I never got a friend invite either.

So yeah. That's why no coffee grinders.
Unless they have a donation icon, like Prozac says.

When I get code-related PMs from people I don't recognize, I check their profile. It doesn't say what their status is, but it does say when they've joined. Then I check the threads they've posted in.

This.

There are coffee grinders that joined the site when I did, which was long enough that I don't want to discuss it.

I was approached for a key by one, and I made a comment about that. His response?

"I hate posting".

*shrug* Some people are lurkers.

King Ludd, you got a donation icon. Welcome to the forum.

And, his game offering is nice. It's a nice puzzle game.

Thank you folks from the community. This is a helpful clarification. Speaking as a fairly new coffee grinder (though a long term devotee of the podcast), I think the no-coffee griders approach seems like a good one. It sucks for a few "coffee grinders" with legit participation in the community, but... I don't think that swapping games is the main reason for being part of the community. The gifting of keys is a natural extension of the goodwill between fellow GWJ participants. I think this generousity is shown by donations to the site, by replies to threads, to offers to help eachother with advice and sympathy. All those options to be part of the generousity are open to coffee grinders, because they're not liable to misuse. I think it's going to be a long time before I move out of the coffee grinder stage because I'm not one to post often. That doesn't mean I feel like I'm excluded from the community. I think it's just really cool that people are so generous within the community, and I'm proud to be participating in this generousity.

I'd like to humbly offer up a gift of a steam key to one of my favorite casual sort of games
-And Yet it Moves

(EDIT: given away now! thrilled to give my first GWJ gift!)

I'm sure most of you have tried it, but if you haven't.... it's just so playful and enjoyable. A relaxing but challenging game to play while letting the day's stresses drift away.

Sorry, no coffee grinders without a donation symbol. I agree with the approach.

All the best,
Jesse

ps- I may not get back right away, since I don't check everyday, but I'll try to.
pps- keep up this generousity, it's so inspiring! By the way, I'm not visiting the thread keen for keys, just visited to learn more about GWJ forums.

Still have:

Nightsky (from HB)
Waking Mars
AaaaaAAaaaAAAaaAAAAaAAAAA!!! for the Awesome
Little Inferno
Solar 2

Thanks to King Ludd for And Yet it Moves.
