TitanFall Catch All

Yeah, they've said a few times that there will be differences, but have yet to speak directly about what those differences might end up being. Until I know that it's really hard to say for sure which version I want.

If both versions are equal on features then I can't help but go for the PC and the better controls.

I'm curious about PC system requirements if this is going to be one of the first 'next-gen' console ports. Has anything been said about that yet?

Sort if a random threadjack, but is Gamefly any good these days?

Looks like the max player count per match will be 12 (6v6). At first glance this seems way too small, but I guess it all depends on map design and gameplay. Those trailers left me with more of a Battlefield feel for scale since the mechs are so big. I hope they provide a demo before release.

That doesn't sound so bad to me, as the AI count is reportedly in the dozens - so large scale battles/maps are still very much something that can be expected. That actually sounds even better to me than 64 players running around being one-man armies.

I would bet that it is probably difficult to balance having the Titans being only somewhat easy to destroy vs. lasting no more than 10 seconds. The latter seems like it would be the case with too many players. The former seems to be what they were going for.

If I take the plunge, it will be on PC. I will wait to decide when I hear the differences between the versions, though I can't imagine a scenario where the PC version is terrible enough for me to take a pass long term. It all depends on whether or not I've shaken the BF4 addiction by then.

They're fine. You just get an Origin code on this one, I'm sure.

It'd be cool if there were Drivatars (Mechatars?).

I am EXCITED that it is 6v6.

They are obviously going to design around that choice and I think it really opens up the competitive scene for the game.

Uh . . . squeeeee?

I'm cool with the 6v6. Some of my favorite MP experiences were 4v4 Gears of War matches. In a way, it'll match the way BF4 often plays - you're coordinating with your squad of 4-5 people ignoring the many of the other players that are running around (until they steal your chopper).

I'm still interested though I find I don't have the time I that I once did for MP. I'm just a little worried, from watching the gameplay, that piloting the Titans will feel like COD, only taller. I haven't gotten a real good sense of size or mass of the things from the videos.

I just think it will be super easy to get a 6 man team of goodjers together, and that sounds awesome to me. I would much rather have that as an option as a 32-man team of strangers. My excitement is at an all time high.

I get more of the impression of a Hawken.

I'm really interested to see how the Titan "follow" and "guard" mode work. Things could get interesting.

I'll have to trust them that 6v6 is the best balance, but as someone who likes medium-well* matches I'm bummed up to 32 players won't be available on PC.

*Did that analogy work for anyone? Didn't work for me, but I left it.

remember there's going to be AI opponents running around so you're not seeing only 6 opponents. It will just be 6 real people.

Along that line.... I'm hopeful that they don't make the AI vs human identification blatant. I'd like the challenge of all "players" being the same.

From the vids they've shown, they're not the same. Think creep from a MOBA.

I'm with Trashie. Six vs. six makes me more excited about TitanFall.

Good call. I also saw Charlie make the comparison to Gears on twitter, and that really hit home for me.

I was worried BF4 would fall by the wayside for me when TF hits, but sounds like they will be different experiences.

Now, if we can just get some PC vs XB1 details, rec'd specs for the former, etc.

6v6 sounds frickin great to me. That means it's much more likely to have, eventually if not at release, a very fine and clear balance struck between pilots and titans.

It also means there's some great opportunity for use of that bit where you can put your Titan on follow or defend and keep running around. I think lower player counts like this offer a lot more clear and interesting tactical choices for team gameplay.

If anything this makes me more excited. Games like this almost always work better without the constant ridiculous chaotic scrum caused by packing too many players into a map.

The game is only two months out, shouldn't we know this kind of stuff by now?

After listening to the latest Conference Call (again, was mainly just looking at the pics/videos on this game), I heard the crew mention that there would be no dedicated server support for the PC. That, combined with no single player, makes this a dealbreaker for me short of word that this game is incredible.

I chalked this up to the fact that this game will inevitably get delayed to Holiday 2014.

I heard that, too. But I'm not sure where the source is. They've not always been factually accurate. They get BF4 stuff wrong consistently on that show.

EDIT: Suspicions confirmed. They don't know what they're talking about.

Thanks for digging that up.

Or launch broken like Sim City, BF4 and NBA 2K14!

So how many Xbox One people are going to do digital download on day one... Judging from my previous experience with game downloads taking forever; I think I'm going to get a physical copy.
