Starting an ALT on a PVP server

No sense really playing a second character on a PVE server so I'm going to be playing an Undead Rogue or Mage on a PVP server.

Havent decided which server so if anyone is currently playing on the Horde side on a PVP server let me know.

Also invited GWJ's to join me.. perhaps we can get a set night to play PVP.

I'm ready to be griefed and dish out some griefing

Interesting... I''ll have to see if I can find a way to add character #4 to the mix. Maybe a Shaman.

My main is a lvl 34 tauren druid on a pvp server called Destromath. I''m the guildmaster of Vertigo, a closed clan that only have my friends in it. Our motto is ""Destroying a little math, day by day.""

It would be great if you can join us GG. We need more power players like you on our side :).

Isn''t it a little tough to specialize when you switch between playing various characters... from the location of the skills, spell, abilities, timing, fighting style, etc.

I like it, actually. My main is a paladin, and then I have my GWJ character, a hunter. The third is part of an uber guild, and that one doesn''t really count, since I haven''t played him since right after open. I play my main pretty constantly, and then concentrate on any alts in little spurts... like this weekend, I played my hunter from 12 to 18 to be able to play with the Certis group tonight.

I like exploring the different ins and outs of the game. I like that sort of shell-shock, if I switch between a Paladin and a Hunter, having to go ""oh crap... wait... um... oh YEAH, that''s riiight!"" If I feel like running around and soloing with a pet, I can play my Hunter... if I want to play a support tanker, I can be a Paladin. I don''t really have that much of a problem switching back and forth.

That said, I would like to try a PvP server... actually, a warrior would be fun, since that''s not an aspect of the game I''ve really explored yet. Let me know about server preference... or alan, if you could use another, let me know.

Ditto that, but I''m not sure where I''d find the time, and it certainly wouldn''t be powergaming.
I played and loved my Shaman to 16, then switched to Alliance to play with the wife. Raced a Paladin to 18 to catch her Rogue, then a Priest to 13 to catch her Warrior. Missed a lot of storyline, but that''s no biggie. Just don''t want to race another character to catch up with folks if it''s gonna be a catchup situation.

Nah, I''d like it to be a somewhat casual thing... really exploring a) another class and b) how PvP is different from PvE, especially as far as missions and such go.

In that case, I wanna go, too. I''m out of town til next Monday/Tuesday, so I''ll prolly have to play catchup anyway.

I''m up for any of the following:
Mage(haven''t tried yet)
Druid(haven''t grouped yet, played to 5)
Shaman(minimal groups, soloed to 17, fished a LOT)
Priest(no groups, soloed to 13 on Alliance)
Warrior(haven''t tried, only if we don''t have any tanks, and since it looks like everyone wants to be Horde, I can''t do Paladin, which I love so far, 70% solo to 19)

I can''t do Paladin, which I love so far

Me too. Great class.

I''ll be the warrior. Don''t know how well they do PvP, but I''ve only played to about 5 back in beta, so obviously, this needs more exploration...

In terms of quests and the world in general nothing is different. The only difference is certain higher level areas (say, almost any of them that are level 18+) are contested which means in those areas you can attack other players on sight. In any area your side owns the only way an enemy player can attack you is if you attack them first.

I played my Rogue on the PVP server up to level 26 and I didn''t see any action until I started hitting the higher level zones where you really can''t get any questing done because it''s a constant battle. Hillsbrad is a fine example of that, in beta that area was packed with people slaughtering each other.

The bottom line is you''re not going to be seeing much PVP action for the first 20 levels (unless you like dying) and you''re going to get killed a lot since everyone has a pretty hefty head start on leveling at this point. For me, my PVP lust will be filled by the Battlegrounds, getting ganked by high level mages while I''m trying to collect bear tongues isn''t my idea of a good time

Let us know how it goes though, maybe something has changed since I played.

Hrm... party pooper. :frown:

Sorry, I''m just making sure you have realistic expectations before to sink 40+ hours into a character. Uncle Certis is just looking out for you!

At first I was like what? Sheman?

Ok, so my co-workers just started some Horde alts on Thunderlord, a relatively low-population (though not the lowest) PVP server. I recommended it (to them) because my brother is on the Alliance side and it''d be fun to hunt him down and smack him upside the head. Anyway, if anyone is interested in starting that PVP alt, come over to Thunderlord Horde and /friend Tenderheart. (I have no idea why but the guild is Clan of the Care Bear and the names are related to that. I''m fairly certain I can get you in even if you don''t use a carebear name.)

Ok. I''ll make a warrior, and see you this weekend!

I started a Human Paladin named Tain on Shadow Moon (PVP) to play with a friend from work if anyone wants to join us. We''re about lvl 10 now, so it wouldn''t be hard to catch up.

Hmm. So are we trying to concentrate these efforts, or should we just split off as we see fit? Kind of seems like we''re just going our separate ways, which isn''t bad... just wondering.

Well hubbinsd obviously started his character first but since you like me better, come to Thunderlord. Seriously, though, I was just letting people know what I was up to and if they are still looking for a PvP server, I''d be on Thunderlord... though my feelings aren''t hurt if no one shows up, either.

Edit: and my primary(ies) will still be on Blackhand so...

Oh yeah, my main is still on Blackhand too of course
