Do the Eagles make it to the Superbowl?

So TO is out, perhaps through the playoffs.

Without him, do the Eagles make it to the Superbowl? Or do they melt down in the NFC Championship game again?

Well, let''s look at their potential competition in the playoffs:

Atlanta Falcons (11 - 3)
Green Bay Packers (8 - 6)
Seattle Seahawks (7 - 7)
Minnesota Vikings (8 - 6)
Carolina Panthers (6 - 8)

People in Philly are panicking as if the pilot on their United Airlines flight suddenly dropped dead and the only one who can get them down is a guy who''s only played Flight Simulator. However, they really don''t have to at all. Some would like to say that without T.O., the 2004 Eagles are just the 2003 Eagles. That''s just misinformed; even without Terrell Owens, the Eagles are still the best team in the NFC. Will they get to the Super Bowl? Well, when the strongest competitors you could possibly face are the one-trick-pony Atlanta Falcons and the hit-and-miss Green Bay Packers, you have little to fear. The Eagles will make it to the Super Bowl and will likely win if they don''t have to face either the New England Patriots or the Pittsburgh Steelers, which I feel has a better chance to happen than most people think.

Let''s not forget it''s the Panthers who went in and beat them in Philly last year, so there''s no reason to count any of those teams out against Philly in the Championship game. Philly was the best team in the NFC last year, as well. Didn''t get them through to the big game, though.

And, let''s not forget that Dallas only lost by 5 points this weekend, and that was in Philly. Philly is becoming the Buffalo Bills of this decade.

Any of those five teams have the tools to beat Philly in the Championship game.

My prediction: A Superbowl loss to Brady and the Patriots. The last couple of games have me very concerned about things like ""depth"" and ""Coasting on the abilities of other players"".

Basically, without T.O. the Eagles are JUST like those one trick ponies.

McNabb is a GREAT player, but with the other mediocore receivers and the broken backfield, there chances of going all the way has dropped to a little above even I think.

I agree!

I think the Eagles are clearly the team in the NFC with or without Owens. The Patriots have some tough competition for their trip back, but I think they can do it.

Nah... they''re really not the band they once were... I mean sure, their greatest hits are great, and I like their live stuff, but Joe Walsh just isn''t the heartthrob he once was... of course, with the Janet debacle, I definitely expect someone a bit more wholesome than her, but I just don''t think the Eagles have the pull in the industry to keep people on the channel during halftime.

Wait... what was the question?

The Dream is over...

There will be no joy in mudville once again.

I''ve lost all hope...I''m just curious to see what sorry ass NFC team will somehow beat us yet again in the NFC championship game.

My god... OT but the Dolphins just pulled an 11-point comeback against the Patriots. I believe ""OMGWTF"" is an appropriate term.

I don''t think the Eagles are going to the Superbowl. They have looked mediocre with TO for the past few weeks and with their banged up defense things are pretty bleak. Atlanta, contrary to popular belief, are not one-trick ponies. They have very solid D (top ten rushing defense) and the are, by far, the best rushing team in the league. Also, Mike Vick just has a knack for winning games. That improbable scramble on fourth down on Saturday night was just another example of this. Vick is 24-12-1 as a starter, including that win in Green Bay in ''02. So don''t count out the Falcons in the NFC. Also, the Panthers are charging like bats out of hell and could easily run through the NFC playoffs.

However, all this talk still doesn''t answer the question: Does it even matter? The AFC is so much better that their Superbowl team will trounce whoever they face. The last wildcard team for the AFC will, in all likelyhood, be better than any team in the NFC.

I agree with this statement 100% I can easily see the Falcons getting to the Super Bowl.

It''s fits the exact mold of all the NFC teams the last 4 years. Horrible season before..breakout season and wham! trip to SB.

I can''t see the Eagles containing Vick enough to control the game and with no TO and the same bunch of sorry ass recievers that only were able to make catches because of TO pulling double coverage I cant see the Eagles putting up more than 10 points on Atlanta''s defense in the NFC championship game.

Assuming they even make it past the Divisional Playoffs.

I can see us climbing the ranks of Cursed Teams after this year..

This year should move us up a notch or two on the list.

Curse you Frank Gifford!!! Curse you!!

No TO = NFC Championship loss. They struggled against the ''boys without him. He really brought a lot to the team. I winced when he went down, he''s lucky that wasn''t an outright break.

I HOPE that Atlanta goes to the superbowl so I can make some big $$ betting against them. They will lose by 35 points.

The Atlanta Falcons beat the Pittsburgh Steelers to finally end Rothlesberger''s (i think thats how you spell it) dream season.

Falcons 31
Steelers 24

The Atlanta Falcons beat the Pittsburgh Steelers to finally end Rothlesberger''s (i think thats how you spell it) dream season.

They also got WAXED by the pitiful Bucs 27 - ZERO.

They also got waxed by the pitiful Chiefs 55 - zero but that really doesn''t matter. Any team in the NFL can win no matter who they play, Dolphins beat the Pats. Who''d a thunk it? The Falcons are as good as anyone in the league. Great running game to go with a good defense, and the best special teams in the league. Not too mention Michael Vick doing what he does.As long as someone in the AFC beats the Colts I think it''s up in the air. But if the Colts get their offensive juggernaut rolling again I think it will be Peyton''s year for a ring. Go Falcons!!!

I think I went through the seven stages of dealing with death after watching that game. It just boggles the mind. Although, I still find it humorous that Brady played his worst game in 3 years, IN Miami, and they still only one by a point. Would have been a different story in Foxborough, that''s for sure. Something about that rivalry made both team''s defenses play like freaking psychos. I''ll bet Belichick is frying all of their butts right now.

I would argue that it DOES matter. You can''t lay eggs like that and expect to go far in the playoffs. Atlanta has a decent team, but they are one Vick injury from being a 5-11 team. Still, anything could happen. Go Falcons!

I''m torn. I''m a Packers fan, but even I know they''re not going to go far in the playoffs this year. They''re just to erratic. Sometimes they play like the best team in the league, and other times they play like they just did against Jacksonville. If they have to play the Eagles again, I don''t think it will be another blow out like the regular season meeting, but I don''t think they''re going to win much.
To answer the actual question though, no I don''t think the Eagles will make the Superbowl. Without TO, opposing defenses can key on the other recievers. I just think it''s to big of an adjustment to go from relying on one guy to catch most of the passes to spreading those passes around to 3 or 4 recievers.

No it fits the mold perfect Atlanta going to the SB..

Another medicore NFC team with a pretty much indifferent fan base.

To be fair...all the NFC teams this year are pretty medicore.

Yeah, the Eagles just really haven''t been the same since they got back together again. That whole ''Hell Freezes Over'' thing just probably shouldn''t have happened. I''ll stick to my copy of ''On the Border'' and pretend that the last couple of decades never happened.

What''s this jibber-jabber about the Superbowl?

As a Redskin fan I can only hope that the Eagles do not make it to the big game. If my sorry team can''t make it then nobody from the NFC East can!

I would not count out Favre because he has a way of winning the big games something that can not be said for the other teams in the NFC.

The Eagles are the best team in the NFC right now but they are really banged up and seem to find ways to not come through the playoffs.

My prediciton the Skins go all the way to the Superbowl and defeat the Steelers!

I''d like to say Tampa was a playoff team a few years in a row before the super bowl, not medicore.

Although they suck now I agree.

I like to think of it that they just got lucky and caught the Patriots on a down year

I was happy to see an Oregon QB perform well in that Monday Night Football game. Yay A.J. Feely! Your first start without an INT since your Junior year at Oregon, and on MNF no less...

As for the Eagles, they are still the best team in the NFC. Westbrook is still a weapon, and they have good TE''s they can lean on from here on out. I don''t trust any other team in the NFC to knock them off. Well, maybe Green Bay based upon revenge factor alone...

I''m just praying the Seahawks can finish the season at 9-7 and avoid being more of a laughing stock of a division winner than they already could be.

As a Redskin fan I can only hope that the Eagles do not make it to the big game. If my sorry team can''t make it then nobody from the NFC East can!

There is always the other end of the spectrum that a lot of fans use, i.e. if a team from their division wins the superbowl then it means their team must have been better because it obviously played in a tough division.

But seriously enough of this nonsense about the Patriots and Eagles. It''s all about the Chargers vs. Colts this weekend. This game is gonna be a big one. If the Bolts win they lock up the third seed and if the Pat''s stumble again against the Ravens they have a chance at the two seed and a bye in the first round. And if that''s not enough reason to watch there are also three nfl records that stand to be broken in this game. Most receiving touchdowns in one season by a tight end (Antonio Gates), most consecutive games with at least one rusing touchdown (Ladainian Tomlinson), and some other obscure record some Colt player might break.

Not bad for a team most people picked to win three games or less. In fact one Los Angeles Times writer even went wrote that he believed the Chargers wouldn''t beat USC if the two teams played. But I have a feeling this week we''ll be seeing a lot of this...

What, the RB getting killed by Mike Peterson? (no relation to Scott Peterson)

Hey, to all the more involved NFL fans... I''m just now getting interested. Is there an easy way to keep up with who''s playing who and on what day? I''m having a terrible time finding a well organized site that lists upcoming games in a way that makes sense.

*Edit*
Ask a stupid question, and find a silly answer. I was searching google for NFL schedule.. why? Because I''m {ableist slur}.

nfl.com seems to work pretty well.

Thanks anyway. Depending on how involved I get you guys might even gain another person to pound on in NFL2k5 soon.

nfl.com seems to work pretty well.

Number one rule of using the internet:

1) Always try www.[whatever you are looking for].com first, even if it''s beastiality three-way.

www.bestialitythreeway.com can not be found.

Yay for the dolphins...just proved why the coach and GM shoulda been fired LONG ago...because their talent level is only a RB and QB below New England...and that should NOT be a 3-11 record...nope...not at all...

Eagles...well...they are the class of a pathetic NFC this year...I love the falcons...but don''t see it happening...but who knows...that''s why they play the games!!!

Go Falcons (and if the falcons are so good, why are my ESPN falcons so bad?)

Methinks that might be a small stretch, unless you really like Chris Chambers and think Junior Seau has that much left in the tank.
