And where that office is, is in Edgemont

Hah! Plus one for the expedition!

Maybe I need to head back and help beef up security for the egg. (After I finish the safari lodge... and the zoo...)

Operation "Free Egg" now in effect. We must bring that Egg to its rightful masters!

Heh... give me until Sunday and I'd bet I can make it difficult and dangerous if not almost impossible for you to get the egg.

Well, in the event that you all visit Edgemont to reclaim the egg, make sure to add your name to the registrar at the customs house. So far I only recall myself and one or two other names tops that were listed. As far as I'm aware, dual citizenship isn't a problem, but we'd like you to put your name down if you plan on staying a little while.

Hi! I'm Rhakka and I'm kind of new here... well... at least I think the only posts I've made were to get whitelisted on the server.

Soooo... I was perusing Reddit and

A redesign of the Iron factory may be in order (^_^)

I've been pretty interested in building Tango Tek's previous beast of an iron farm, The Iron Trench

I've been collecting materials this last week or maybe a little more and I think I'm about ready on that front. Since I had just assumed it would be impossible to build the foundry on this server due to the spawn chunks requirement, I figured The Trench would be a nice alternative at 1100 iron per hour. Then after Oddrune pointing me to your post, I decided to actually look at the map and see if maybe the foundry could actually fit into the spawn chunks...

The foundry design requires the permanent structure (not the temporary doors used for linking) to be inside the spawn blocks (12x12 chunks with spawn at center).

It looks like that's 140, -168 to 332, -32 for us, which contains not only some buildings with doors next to the empty area to the SW, but some of those doors are villages (in the shop, just south of spawn).

So even if the foundry was built W of spawn, there would only be able 96 blocks in the spawn chunks there and if I understand correctly, the village doors for the foundry need to be ~70 blocks from any other doors that can be linked to a village. The foundry is 45x45 after removing the temporary linking doors. So that means around 115x115 in the corner of the spawn chunks. Assuming I got the numbers right... that size area from spawn to the SW would come back and overlap the spawn by a few blocks, which would include the shop next to spawn.

I believe building a 16 village version instead of 44 would be about 24 fewer blocks in with, making it 115x91, putting it clear of the shop. (by shop, I mean N.P. Press

One advantage to the Iron Trench is that you don't need to be near the spawn chunks, so it can be built pretty far out and it's still 1100 bars per hour.

The 2 cons when compared to the foundry are that every time the chunks are loaded, there's about a 20 minute wait before it's fully functioning again. If you leave the area and the chunks are unloaded, it'll be another 20 minute wait next to you travel to the area again. The other downside is the ridiculous amount of redstone circuitry required. If any little thing is out of place and sometimes if pieces are placed in the wrong order, it won't work and it could be hard to troubleshoot.

Anybody read this entire post and have some thoughts on the subject?

First off, thanks for the reminder. The village below N.P. Press was temporary until we could find our 3 primary staff villagers. I've removed it, but I don't know what other doors in the area might mess with your setup. The post office just north of us has a door I know, so maybe that only helps a little bit.

I think, from a production standpoint, that the shortcomings of the Iron Trench, are really only realized when it is left outside of the spawn chunks. However, in either case, I do worry about the implications of having two iron production facilities within the spawn chunks. I feel like there's been a lot of complaints about lag in the recent re-roll of the world, and while I don't think that all of it is due to iron production, I'm sure it plays some part in it.

Speaking of villages...

Fisherman's wharf at Edgemont is coming along nicely, with a half a dozen finished buildings and.. let's see.. about 20 doors or so. It also seems to be largely secure from monster spawns, though there are a few more places I'm going to light up just to be certain. At this point, I'd like to see if I can start to populate it.

Anyone have any suggestions on how to get a villager or two out of Zombies? Alternatively, there's a desert village not far that seems to be populated - is it easy to transplant one? Do leads work on villagers? (I remember it used to take a minecart to transport a villager before leads.)

Also, boat travel is really frustrating with the lag.

Leads do not work on villagers.

Your best bet is to trap zombies in a basic pit trap of some kind, maybe with a water flow. Then kill the non-villager ones and follow the steps in the Minecraft wiki on how to resurrect the villagers. Be sure to cover the pit while they are reverting because the sun will still kill them and the transition cane take a while.

On an unrelated topic. I sort of want to make an automatic sorting machine for a storehouse in spawn. I'm still sort of working out the mechanics of it but I think it's possible. I've made one before that sorted four different drops from a farm but this might take a bit more doing.

I need a basic sorter for my chicken cooker... I haven't ever looked into the mechanics... is it big and complicated to do this?

Go on out to Longrath's and take a look (and/or ask him). I think he's got what you're looking for in the ante-chambers on either side of his main hall.

I went ahead and made a demonstration of the sorter on one of the empty unclaimed lots.

If somebody wants the lot I can clear it out.

In retrospect, building red stone circuits on a red block might not be the smartest idea.

Thanks, I might get some time to swing by tomorrow.

Question - I know someone has a pet skellie setup in such a way they can get it to kill creepers for them and generate records.

I had that happen to me accidentally last night, and I have a record now. These things are cooler than I thought they were, and I'm interested in getting the rest of the set. But I don't remember whose place and don't want to barge in without asking.

Whoever that is, can you contact me? Thanks.

If memory serves me right, it was Lou that had the creeper-killer set up.

If you lost a mule answering to "Democrass" or something close to that (sorry, can't really remember) it was found this morning near the lake in the downtown area. It was moved to the paddock outside Fort McSpawny.

Yup. It's at my Swamp bunker, which lost its poi sign in an unfortunate accident. If you follow the white bridge/path in the nether near the nether fortress and take the stone slab path to the right Midway down it, that leads to the gate.

Sorry. .. Phone.

I do have extra copies of two records you're welcome to if you'd like.

I'm working on the video. I've got 5 hours in the editing so far.

I made an original score/soundtrack, spliced in bonus footage with time dilation, added some commentary, and altered the hues/brightness to better see in the end.

I would say there's another 3 hours left of editing before it's done. Hopefully I will get to it Thursday.

If you haven't seen my other youtube videos, you'll see that I spend a lot of time on them, making original music and plenty of custom edits.

That would be mine. I guess they can still get out of the pen or it was creeper bombed. Thank you for that, I will be along shortly to collect him.

I have some spare copies of the record "cat".

Momgamer, here's Lou's post about the skellie-kills-zombie setup.

I knew I saw it recently, got lucky clicking back to find it.

You monster.

You know, I kitty-cat-dance-bombed a P&C thread a month or so back for old-time's sake, and didn't get a single response to it. I was a sad cat.

We are wise to your cat-dancing ways, Fars. We are wise...

Norfair, I would appreciate that.

If anyone has extra copies, I'd be glad to have them. I don't know which one I have; I'll find out later and post it.
