Forcing PvP on PvE (WoW)

No time frame but here you go

In regards to where you can mind control a mob a player is fighting, we want to change it so that a tapped mob cannot be mind controlled. This goes for a few spells that work this way.

After being forced into PvP, I now am super paranoid and find myself distracted.

Why the death penalty in WoW is pretty much zilch..

all it is is that your out a few silver and 5-10 min. Tops..

You have zero risk of losing gear or any permenant effects to your character.

You can even res at the spirit and take a 25% durability hit and not even bother running back to your corpse

Hopefully Blizzard will fix this because even though the penalty for dying is minimal in WoW it is stuff like this that turns people off.

Hey Bean, don''t you warlocks have a detect invisibility spell? That should help detect stealthed rogues.

Detect Lesser Invisibility only detects creatures using the spell effect Lesser Invisibility, such as another warlock''s succubus, or someone who''s drunk the invisibility potion an alchemist can make. Stealth is not invisibility, thus it does not detect players or critters using stealth.

Basically, it''s an almoste entirely useless spell.

I think my group got suckered tonight. Essentially this fellow Horde player comes along (name was Vaarji I think) and asks what we''re up to, then asks ''can I join'' - so I invite him, he accepts. Then suddenly 3-4 alliance appear out of nowhere (hidden in shadows) and attack us. Before I know whats going on - my three teammates and Vaarji are all killed. For some reason I was spared. My budy asked who attacked the alliance guys and Vaarji said ''oh I did - I thought they were monsters''. My buddies ran back to their corpses and rez''d - and the alliance guys killed them all again (duh. what were we thinking). So I then announced in local defence channel that we needed help with some alliance, and they ran off. Gonna assume alliance can''t hear horde''s local defence - so my guess is Vaarji told em.

I dunno maybe Vaarji did make a mistake and it was just timing that they ran off. Either way this scam could work to entice people into PvP unawares. So watch out for those who seem over-eager to join your party.

It actually would have been fun to square off against the alliance guys - they were pretty equal to us if they hadn''t had the jump on us. The corpse camping seems like a huge potential frustration however.

I''m assuming that if one person in a group attacks an opposing faction - the whole group is flagged PvP - but I can''t find anywhere it explicitly says this. Am I right or wrong?

From OB it didn''t work that way, but that was on a PVP server. Each party member''s PvP flag was unaffected by other members actions. Maybe there''s some rule involving contested zones on PVE servers.

Would be impossible in game for a Horde player to chat with someone from the Alliance.. so unless they had outside the game communication I''m pretty sure you werent the victim of some scam.

Additionally opposing factions cannot hear any of the channels from the other faction.

It''s likely they simply got bored or figured someone else higher level may come along.

WoW doesn''t shut down Messenger, Teamspeak, etc., so it''s entirely possible that they could still be talking to each other (albeit outside of normal in-game channels). Would a normal person do it? No. Would a 13-year-old griefer do it? Yes.

While he has no direct proof it would be niave to think that this sort of stuff will not happen. Even in games like DAoC where you could not ALT-Tab out of game people would go as far as having multiple accounts just so they could spy and or take advantage of people.

PvP games bring this sort of behavior out in people while it may not be the majority you will find them more often then you will want.

The only thing you can do is try to keep track of people who are supicious and avoid them in the future since you have no means of retribution like you would in a pure PvP game.

Easy solution: group with the GWJ crew only and not random people when doing PvP. We are going to have a blast with PvP soon.

Speaking of which, who is good to look for online to be invited to the GWJ guild?
