The Walking Dead (from Telltale Games) - Catch All

I felt like Clementine was off-limits in Season 1 because her relationship with Lee was the centerpiece of the story. She was guaranteed to at least make it to the final episode. I guess we'll see how things go this time around. With luck she'll stick around. I know it's TWD, but we can have occasional not horribly depressing endings, right?

I just finished Season 1 ten minutes ago. I started it months ago and got distracted by something shiny right around the end of Episode 1. Picked it back up a week or two ago. Episode 2 got it's hooks in me, and then from the gut punch moment in Episode 3 I couldn't put it down. Plowed through the rest of the episodes, and am about to pick up 400 days.

The only question is whether to play Season 2 as it's released, or wait until all episodes are out and marathon through them like I did Season 1...

That is a dilema.... I hit Season 1 when all 5 were out, and pretty much played it fron start to finish in only a few sittings (twice). Same with 400 days. So, to have to wait for episodes.... I'm not sure if I could handle it. On the flip side, I don't think I could handle waiting to start.... Decisions, decisions....

My biggest fear is getting something spoiled. I heard the ending of Season 1 on a podcast somewhere. Not that it wasn't fairly easy to see coming by the end of the 4th episode, but still. I may go ahead and play Season 2 as they come out to avoid that happening again.

I liked playing them as they came out. Granted, I rarely have time for games these days, but when I do the 2-3 hour length is perfect for one or two sittings.

I'm worried about getting behind with Walking Dead and The Wolf Among us coming out simultaneously.

That's a good point, getting spoiled would suuuuuuck. I don't know how I've managed to avoid spoilers so far, I'm still on episode 4 of TWD.

Has it been mentioned that The Wolf Among Us is f*cking awesome? Because it is. I like it more than TWD : )

No man, I know I could help you out for the PC, but the XBox is beyond my area of expertise.

Oh great, now I'm imagining an ending to season two in which Clementine dies...

I was also on the fence on the whole "play them as they come out" versus "wait for all the episodes to be out." However, I don't think I can be patient enough this time around, so I'll play bit by bit. Also spoilers.

I played the first 3 episodes as they came out and the last 2 back to back. I managed to remain unspoiled, but the emotional toll in playing consecutive episodes was too high. I'll be subscribing and playing them as they are released.

The pre-order page on GMG states:

Anticipated for release Q1 2014.

But Gamersgate suggests 'Late 2013' and Steam suggested November...

Maybe I have a bit more time to clear some space/time.

Finally finished up my Walking Dead backlog.

About Vince:

Spoiler:

One of my favorite plot threads. We don't know why or who he shot, only that it was for his little brother. I appreciated that they showed Macon as they backdrop for it. For the life of me, I really couldn't pick between the two other convicts, that was a horrible choice to make, but one that follows the tradition of the game. Pretty amazed that the majority of players opted to shoot Justin instead of Danny, even though I made that same choice. Guess rapist trumps embezzler.

Spoiler:

I think the thing about Danny was that in the bus scene, he was looking out for people at the risk of his own life, whereas Justin was just kind of hanging out in the back. Without knowing the details of his crime, it's hard to judge based entirely on that. And Justin's primary character trait was, "whiney." So I'm not terribly surprised that it's so one-sided.

This is where we differ, Kazooka. About the details of Danny's in Vince's story arc (400 days DLC spoilers):

Spoiler:

I really don't care about the details, honestly. Rape is rape. There is no "rape rape" or "kinda rape".

Spoiler:

I'm not defending the guy, I'm trying to explain why the voting is one-sided. I personally took Danny because Justin seemed far more likely to pull one over on me in the long run.

Oh, I know you're not!! Sorry if that's the impression you got, that wasn't my intention. What I was trying to explain we're my own mixed feelings and reactions to the decision and the choice I made (same as yours). Definitely doesn't sit well with me but that's the beauty of the Walking Dead decisions!!

Really looking forward to season two!!

I had a different take.

Spoiler:

Dude claimed to be innocent, and based on his actions, I decided I believed him.

Whereas I had very little faith in his denial, but figured that he'd be a much more reliable companion out in the wilds than whiny-financial-scammer-guy, despite them both being pretty vile.

I quite enjoyed watching episodes 1 at a time. The 1-2 month break between seemed to make them even better with the suspense. It is no different than a cliff hanger season finale IMO. It anoying at the end of 1 episode but the next episode makes it worth it.

I played the first two back to back, but then I had to wait for the rest. It was appointment gaming at its best. The last episode came out on a day where I had to stay late at work, but my family was out of town. I got home, set up the download, fixed dinner, and played straight through. One of my best gaming memories.

Walking Dead : Season 2 starts this month!!!
Woohoo!!
And Omid will be back!!

Woohoo!

Steam now says December 17th for release

I'm all preordered and ready to go. Actually I have a few concerns about Clementine being the protagonist this time ... Still really looking forward to it though.

New trailer released! December 17th release date confirmed!

Hoooo-boy. Can't wait. 4 Days to go! Although I may save it for the weekend after (21st) so I can play it fully without interruption.

I really need to play the DLC. That looks fantastic.

You should. And it only takes an hour or two, tops.

Remains to be seen, but isn't there supposed to be a link between your choices in Season 1, DLC and leading into Season 2?

They said there would be, that your choices in season one and the DLC would have an impact. How they implemented it and how well it works remains to be seen though.

I don't think any of the characters from the DLC were in the launch trailer. I guess it remains to be seen how that will fit in.

Spoiler:

PC gamer writes only Omid is visible, but I'm pretty positive that Christa is there at 0:35 as well.

Yep, I'd agree with that.

Also, I just looked properly at the "box art" for the game...

Spoiler:

Safe to say it doesn't look like Clem's going to have some sort of magic plot bubble protecting her.
