Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D (No Spoilers Beyond What's Aired)

Meanwhile, I love how they took a week long break to "line the episode up better with the release of Thor 2", and outside a few comments at the start of the episode and everything being related to Asgard, it pretty much had nothing to do with the film. :P

Was this really surprising? It's not like Natalie Portman was going to guest star or anything. The interesting movie tie-in will be Winter Soldier since they're seem to be hitting that "SHIELD is evil" note pretty hard in the previews.

Well, in regards to Thor spoilers...

Spoiler:

I was more expecting it to at least have something to do with the Dark Elf technology left behind, or energy/fragments left behind by the Uber-Energy MacGuffin. The staff? COMPLETELY unrelated to the film. Not even a good commercial!

So no, wasn't expecting cameos, but this is as much a tie-in as the Extremis stuff has been to Iron Man 3 (hell, less so, seeing as Extremis was IN Iron Man 3)

"Ward would have been better if it were Nathan Fillion!"

...

Actually, I hate to say it, but maybe Ward would have been better if he were played by Adam Baldwin.

In fact, Ward would have been better if he were Casey instead.

Actually, that plot was more or less what I expected. They're seem to be pretty comfortable with their "someone stumbled across some discarded tech" formula but they also have this weird relationship to the Marvel Cinematic Universe: they really can't decide how closely they want to tie in to the movies. They want to get that momentum from the MCU but they don't want to ride on their coattails either.

It would be a better show if Zach Levi played the hacker and Yvonne Strahovski as Ward :).

I absolutely LOST IT at the Thor 2 tie in. We saw the movie last Friday, and I loved it.

Also, did anyone else catch the stinger?

Spoiler:

Seeing Coulson recite the "wake up" dialog from Dollhouse also rocked my world.

Wait what? Am I forgetting something?

... nevermind, I remember now.

Did I fall asleep?

The final shot through the open door was focused squarely on the bed. They totally got drunk and had sex. No question.

Agreed.

My wife was really upset that I came to this conclusion. I wanted to ask her "Hey, who was the film major around here?", but I didn't really want to sleep on the couch. ;)

I think it's what they want us to think, but will turn out not to be the case.

If it had been the train going through the tunnel on the other hand... no question.

I think I'm 3 episodes behind at this point. I haven't really had any desire to go back and watch it. Almost Human, Sleepy Hollow, and Supernatural, and Arrow are enough for me right now.

I really enjoyed the latest episode. Having it tie into the movies is a really big plus and I hope they can get some cameos going if the show survives.

And yeah...

Spoiler:

I totally think they banged.

They humped like Asguardian rabbits.

Given their recent anger issues, they probably destroyed the room in the process.

He did say Asguardian. :p

This is where I am too. I could see Ward going for it, but I think May's too smart for that. Their cohesion as a team barely exists as is; introducing that sort of situation to the mix would only make it worse. I wouldn't be surprised if the next episode involves Skye seeing Ward coming out of May's room, and we have to spend at least part of the episode dealing with the fallout from her assuming the same thing you all are assuming. At least I hope we get that instead of them actually banging.

Is the best thing the show has going for it a Thor tie in? I haven't watched in a long while, but if cameos are what keeps this thing afloat then it's DOA.

Thor tie-in is a misnomer. They showed them doing a little (very little) cleanup from the movie. There were no cameos. The biggest cameos to-date have been Fury and Hill.

The show is starting to find its legs with the characters, but it still doesn't understand what purpose knees, ankles and feet have.

EDIT: Oh yeah, totally no hankey pankey going on there. They just play Twister together is all.

I was coming to admit I was wrong, but I like this version better.

I felt this episode was more of a tie-in with Thor than the previous. At least they mention the whole passing between worlds. I don't think it's must watch TV, but it is an enjoyable diversion for an hour a week.

My feelings towards this episode were mostly mixed. I'd say Fitz reverted back to his pre-sandwich-eating days, where he's less brave and such (screaming at his own prank, for example).

I like it, but I don't love it, and I think we're long enough into it to make a personal judgment. I still expect it to be enjoyable, but it's reaching the point where if I miss an episode, I probably wouldn't mind too much.

Yeah, my thoughts exactly. No reason to take it off the season pass yet but that was the 9th episode and I was hoping to see more improvement by now. However, bow chicka wa wow with gruff older lady and gruff younger guy confirmed!

Asguardian rabbits, guys.

That sums it up for me. I had hoped it would be similar to season 1 of Heroes, but it's a far cry from that. Still, its something to watch. I wouldn't be upset over missing an episode or two.

You wanted another rip-off of Watchmen?

Ward punched a guy in the throat. That was cool.

Chloe Bennet who plays Skye did a Reddit AMA today: http://www.reddit.com/r/IAmA/comment...

Quite entertaining.

Q: If a genie granted you 3 wishes, what would they be?

A: I would wish for: 1. The ability to never have to sit in traffic. 2. Eat as many donuts as I want.. and it all just went to my boobs. 3. I want to be able to understand a football game.

Talk about your inevitable back problems.

Huh, she seemed really chill and pretty down to earth. Lots of cussing, loved it!

Hmm Skye's donut boobs...

Spoiler:

that last episode was pretty ok

Overall I liked it. Good to have Mike -someone with actual super powers- on board finally, but it was painfully obvious that his son would become a liability at some point. His vulnerability was a giant plot hole, but nothing an inflatable life raft couldn't patch The Centipede boss man was kind of needlessly douchey; every time the "charming chick" asked for details he shut her down, then went ahead and provided the details.

Entertaining episode, moved the overarcing plot forward well.

Spoiler:

Looks like we're finally going to get a Tahiti treat, next episode.
