Super Mario 3d World catch all

This game seems to good to just talk about in the Wii U thread. Comes out Friday and I can't wait!

Enjoy a new video I just saw on Eurogamer's Youtube channel.

Thread title typo. Should be "world" not "word".

Also really excited for this game. I'm pretty much buying a Wii U now because of it.

I want a Wii U just for this game.

Or it could be a previously unannounced spelling game!

Is this the first dedicated Wii U game thread?

I'm really hoping Amazon doesn't fail me and I get my game delivered to my cubicle on Friday. Can't wait!

Mario Teaches Spelling!

We had a thread for that? I thought it was just ccessarano and I PMing.

TW101 is sitting in my Wii U right now, actually. Just need to get motivated to learn new systems...

The constant praise of this game is making my "No pile on the Wii U" plan really hard to stick with.

I was planning on buying a wii u for the family this Christmas. Hopefully I can find a bundle deal on this game. Looks flippin' sweet.

Prima Games has an apparently free walkthrough. I guess it's not as detailed as the one they're selling, but it appears to cover worlds 1-7.

I pre-ordered at my local store last night. I traded in a bunch of stuff I won't ever get played and got $45 in credit so the SM3DW will only cost me $20 or so.

Can't wait until Friday night.

I feel remiss that I posted part 2 of the Eurogamer playthrough so here is part one

And a bit about the power ups

I received my shipping notification from Amazon this morning. There will be no table flipping on Friday!

Made it to the end of the 3rd World with Demyx tonight. This game is as delightful as the trailers make it out to be. You can tell this was by the Galaxy team, and the Jazz/Swing soundtrack is outstanding.

Also, it's a much much better co-op experience (and better balanced since they prevent abusing the bubble) than the NSMB games.

Only problem so far is that it's really easy to dive off the level with the cat, which isn't hard to prevent once you get used to the new powerup.

Beautiful and charming game - from the colors and level design to the music. It's kind of a big mish mash of all the previous Mario games with the usual Nintendo polish.

Definitely worth checking out if you're on the fence.

I've jumped the fence and am enthusiastically stomping on the neighbours mushroom patch, cosplaying as Princess Peach.

Sadly the game is not out here until NEXT Friday...

I forgot about the deluxe digital promotion. Inspired me to buy this digitally. I've only played 1-1 but it all just oozes charm.

I have finished world 4 and it is fantastic. I seemed to remember people being down on this from E3 but man....the soundtrack, the graphics, the creativity in the levels is just great. It really does remind of of Super Mario Bros. 3. in 3D.

We just finished World 5 tonight. Having an absolute blast although we've had some pretty dumb and amusing deaths. A game like this would be perfect for streaming

I think the issue with the E3 reveal was they didn't show enough of the game. It was some pretty stock 3D Mario gameplay plus the cat suit. Once the trailers started showing more variety a few months ago people's interest perked up.

I picked this up today and I'm having a lot of fun. I haven't really gotten into a Mario game since the first Galaxy one. I liked the shadow play stuff on one of the levels in World 2 - I hope I see that again. The Mii stuff is interesting - I'm seeing a lot of hints showing after I finish the levels, and it's nice that the stamp collectables have a purpose. The game is slightly more old school than I expected. I figured there would be limited lives, but losing the green stars if you die is old school cruel. I'm not complaining - but it has caused me to replay sections again and again. So far, it hasn't been boring - the design is wonderful; however, I could see it get frustrating.

This is the most fun I've had with a Mario game since... Galaxy 2, I suppose.

I feel like they've managed to combine all the awesome things from previous Mario games into one game. Only beaten World 1 so far, waiting until the holiday when i have people to play with!

Gah, this was a bad idea. I'm planning on holding out until some time in January after MAGFest as finances are tight, but I've seen more gameplay that reminds me of the more challenging segments in Mario 3D Land and that has me sold.

So I've actually been pretty down on the last few Mario games. For the most part they've been kinda dull and uninspired. I didn't even get past world 3 in New Super Mario U before giving up due to boredom.

That said, I played 3D World for seven hours yesterday. I have no clue what magical pixie dust they used in this game but I could not put the damn thing down. This game is just endlessly charming and fun. The level variety is fantastic, the powers are fun, the characters are unique. I'm pretty floored by how much damn fun I'm having with this game. I finished World 5 last night, finishing every stage with all stars and stamps. I cannot wait to get home and play some more.

I'd love to get this game and start playing today, but sadly it's a Christmas gift purchase.

I need your guys help. I want to know if you think I should buy a wii U just to play this game. I've been waffling as to weather or not I want to buy a Wii U.

Pros
- Super Mario 3D World
- I haven't owned a Nintendo since N64
- The hope and promise of the next Zelda
- Lego City Undercover
- I have two young kids

Cons
- I'm getting a next gen system in march. Not sure if I need/want that many consoles under the TV.
- I might not ever play the Wii U after I get my new console.
- I still enjoy my 360.
- I'm uncomfortable with the idea of spending $300 on a Wii U and then $400 to $500 on the shiny new thing in march.

Well that was cathartic. I'm really leaning towards NOT buying a Wii U after doing that little exercise. I'm still interested in everyone's opinion though. What do you think?

Then add Wind Waker to the Pro list. It's one of the best Zelda games and it's all-new to you.

For real, the off-tv play is an amazing feature. Yes, you can do it on the PS4 too, but the Wii U does it for half the price. The Nintendo releases have been really strong lately too.

Of course, I'm really cold on the two big new consoles in favor of a PC with the Steambox streaming thing set up, so take that for what it's worth.

I'd argue that you should get the Wii U now, and push back buying a PS4/XBone until late 2014. There still won't be much to play on those systems by March.

Pros
- Super Mario 3D World
- Wind Waker HD
- Lego City Undercover
- The hope and promise of the next Zelda
- Great Wii games (Mario Galaxy 1 & 2, Super Paper Mario, Xenoblade Chronicles, 2 x Zeldas, Metroid Prime Trilogy...)
- Virtual Console
- Good kids titles, plus off screen play for when competing for TV with kids/partner!

Cons
- Not getting a next gen system in late 2014. But the first wave of titles will already be discounted, and there will be more decent titles available by then.

That is the sound of sanity.
