We snuck in Mike & Ikes.

We loved the movie. There are two extra scenes, so make sure you wait during the credits.

Last night, I went to a concert at the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. They were doing all John Williams music and the man himself was conducting. It started out with selections from Close Encounters of the Third Kind. Really cool to see that creepy music being played live. Next he did a violin concerto that he wrote. Not in any movie, but still really good. After the intermission, he started it off with Flying to Neverland from Hook. During this one, there was a video playing of just any movie scene that features flying. Anything from Tora! Tora! Tora! to Top Gun to How to Train Your Dragon to Up. Really cool. Then there were three selections from the Indiana Jones films. The first two were from Raiders. As they were playing the first one, I could actually see Indiana fighting the Nazis on the truck to get the Ark back. Unfortunately the third piece was from Crystal Skull, but whatevs. Music was still good. He then spoke a bit about the three pieces he was going to do next from Lincoln. They were pretty good if a bit short. And the last piece in the playbill was basically the last 10 minutes of E.T. played out. I forgot how beautiful that score was.

Then came the encore. After a 5 minute standing ovation, he came back out and started with Leia's theme. More standing and ovating. So he came back a second time. BAM! Star Wars main theme. Right as he hit the first note in the song, the lights go low and the screen shows STAR WARS from the opening crawl. It then shows a bunch of scenes from all six movies. And I was so captivated that the prequel scenes didn't bother me one bit. That finishes up and there's more standing and clapping. So the man comes out one last time and sends us home with the Imperial March. I had a grin on my face the entire train ride home. It was the best evening I've had in a long time. I've got so many movies to watch today. If he comes to your city, get tickets because it's wonderful.

That sounds like so much fun Grenn.

We had a great night as well. We went to an auction for adoption agency, Holt International Children's Services, that helped bring my sister and my daughter to my family.

Not only was I lucky enough to support a cause I believe in but I was able to surprise my wife by winning a trip of a lifetime for our 25th anniversary.

Amoebic seems to be living in the future. Can you tell us who won the Super Bowl in 2014?

Sorry, this is true. I got a little too excited and tore the fabric of time and space!

Well, it's Night Vale so... maybe?

But she's probably talking about the 1 year anniversary issue episode which was pretty touching =)

With the PNC center out there? Damn near everyone

Wife left her old 70s convection oven plugged into a medium-duty extension cord a few weeks back, and it melted the two cords together, then the oven's cord broke off at the plug. Was going to cost $30 for a new extension cord, and at least $50 to fix the oven's cord, but about $15 at Home Depot got me some wire strippers, new male/female cord ends, and a new skill.

Now I want her to break some more electronics.

Broadband Internet. After going without for more than three years it feels amazing and a bit overwhelming to be connected again.

Billybob will be covering the 7th Guest in his next episode of the UMB podcast. Couldn't be happier about that!
Also, his Dark Forces episode today was pretty great too.

"Hey honey - you want some toast in the bath? I'll bring you the toaster."

Oh, that'll go horribly wrong...

The toast will get soggy!!!

That was my first reaction, too.

Homemade lasagna.

My dad uses voice-to-text for all his text messaging, with occasionally hilarious results.

Yeah, voice-to-text is amusing. I love my Google Voice transcriptions.

recent voice to text voicemail message I got from my dad:

Hello hey hey call me hey hey please just by rick hey hello hey.

Funny thing was, it was a pocket call.
