DayZ - ArmaII zombie mod

I'd be interested in playing some time. I feel like I got into this right as a core group were wanting to play other maps and mods. Probably need to update my stuff.

Cool. Added you on steam. Just give me a heads up when you want to play.

Sounds good. I updated everything so I'm good to go. Need to remember all the key bindings now.

Noticed this on the internet this morning.

We do have another thread for the Standalone, in case you hadn't spotted it (and the news about this update posted yesterday )

I did not know. Thank you sir!

Is anybody still playing this? Does it even exist anymore due to the standalone?

I played for a bit yesterday and I still find it engaging. It's got a long way to go with desync issues, zombie population, inventory issues, hacking and more, but I believe it will get there.

I still really enjoy spawning on the beach with nothing, scrounging around for whatever's available, almost starving, and then finding that one loot spawn that gets me over the edge.

The latest patch on the standalone actually brings it close to the mod difficulty.

The mod is a community project now, and it is being updated, but it has a much smaller population than standalone does.

Standalone is finally re-incorporating zombies in a real way, which was one of the biggest complaints about standalone that drove some players to go back to playing the mod.

A lot of stuff is gearing up to be added into standalone over the next few update cycles, including the new DX11, no-longer-tied-to-the-simulation renderer, which should improve performance significantly (at least by removing the biggest FPS drops, like in cities). That's expected to go into internal testing this month, inclusion in the stable release probably in June.

I've been playing a bit of the .56 build and having a lot of fun exploring. I'm not sure when they did it but there's a lot of new buildings on the North edge of the map.
