Let's Do the Extra Life 25 Hour Charity Event Together! Nov. 2nd

That sounds like it could be perfect.

Unfortunately it seems like I screwed up tonight and spent most of my time talking to myself.

Hope you don't mind ccesarano but I decided to join up with the GWJ team for Extra Life 2013!

Seeing as I'm a PS3 gamer I probably won't be able to join in with you guys but if there is anyone who wants to join up for BF4 I'd be more than willing!

Barring that I'm planning 25 hours of Okami HD. As I'm based in Japan I thought that was probably appropriate.

You can hop onto my fundraising page here.

Here's the thread I just created for my own campaign which I finally got launched today. Also, it won't let me join the Gamers With Jobs team because I'm already registered but they can apparently do it manually if you e-mail Extra Life support so I've done that.

Really? They won't allow you to join? Huh.

And no problem at all Merkaba! I'll actually have no choice but to be exclusively console myself, so I'm hoping we get some PC players involved soon enough.

I'll be putting together a spreadsheet of games today (schedule willing) of what I'd like to play and what folks can vote on, so hopefully I'll be able to put together an official schedule.

You have to join a team when you create your profile. You can't join one after the fact because...I don't know why but they say if you ask support, they'll do it manually for you.

Hrm, I'm starting to find Extra Life's documentation about as troublesome as Drupal's. The FAQ led me to believe that you don't want to donate a flat donation, but will set your "per hour" donation amount. Turns out this was wrong, which is why I only show $2.

ANYWAY! So I've finally constructed a spreadsheet for people to vote on what games they'd like me to play. The downside: no PC options.

The idea is simple. Check out my spreadsheet, and increment the "vote" column value by 1 for any game you'd like to play with me or, in the case of single player, listen to me do a critique/analysis while playing.

The results will be used to help determine which games I'll be playing and at what time I will schedule them.

Seems I can't edit it in order to vote.

Whoops! Should be fixed now.

I just noticed that we're getting back from vacation on the 2nd, so I don't know if I'll be able to watch or play with any of you. Will definitely toss some money at the team though. Hope you all have a great time!

Thanks man! Also, whether you can contribute or not, you can help just as much by just telling a couple of people about what we're doing. And hey, remind them of what happens when I hot those stretch goals. People loved watching me suffer through Amnesia last year.

Okay, finally got added to the team!

We are currently ranked #736!

OP updated with some new information, and nagging my friends and family to do a better job at helping out.

Now then, I'm considering trying another practice stream. Friday night, would anyone like to play Halo: Reach firefight? It would give me a good opportunity to test my Xbox out in terms of multiplayer, seeing as the live stream kind of...failed horribly for the Beyond demo. I don't even know if it runs at a decent framerate.

I'm trying to get the word spread around as well. My campaign's had a pretty flat start so far which is kind of disappointing. Gonna' have to turn up the nagging methinks.

Signed up a couple days ago for my very first Extra Life event, and *of course* picked the GWJ team once I realized it existed. I'm earning under my real name, Josh Baker.

I'll be streaming the 25 hours on my Twitch channel, but I hadn't put much thought into what games I would play. Putting it up to a vote is a good idea! Maybe I'll do it like one of those "laugh at your boss" pools where the donations are your votes.

We should all get onto the Ventrilo server during the event.

Oh no doubt!

What games were you considering?

Toying with taking part and adding a lil incentive in the form of getting my 10 years worth of uncut locks shaved if I meet my target. One thought that might drum up a few more participants in one game in particular; BF4 releases Oct 29th and I know a number of us here are already pre-ordered.

I've got BF4 on preorder for PS3 so if anyone else is keen to hop in for some matches during my 25 hour stint. Feel free to add me on PSN and drop me a message!

I'll be trying to do a Halo: Reach streaming test run tomorrow at 8pm. I'll post in other threads as well, but I need to make sure I can actually hook my Xbox 360 up (realizing last minute the potential lack of plugs and cables could be a problem).

Hey everybody!

I'm participating this year for the first time, I'm going to mainly focus on Wii U and family friendly games, and I'm streaming on my twitch channel as well. My kids are going to join me. After the kids go to bed I'll probably switch to Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate.

I'm going to *try* to play for the whole 24 hours, but most likely I'm not going to make it the whole time. We'll see.

I would like to join the GWJ team, so I'll email the people at extra-life to get that switched over. Hurray for teamwork!

Here's my participant page link: http://www.extra-life.org/participant/gamerparent

Clearly my friends and family care the least.

pretty sure my wife would pay me to NOT play videogames for 25 hours straight...does that count?

I will be doing a very good amount of BF4 over the 25 hours, or at least I hope to.

I am a bit concerned about being able to run it and stream it at the same time, but I am going to try.

Be sure to keep in mind what platforms you guys will be playing it on as well.

I'd be willing to help out. My twitch page: www.twitch.tv/xeknos

I can either help you guys stream or cohost somewhere or whatever you need me to do, just let me know. Thinking about streaming Metroid Other M. Also signed up at ExtraLife and joined the GWJ team.

Gah, I'll have to do it in the morning, but I just realized I need to update the main page with all you new team members. Thanks for joining in!

EDIT: Alright! So I have confirmed that I can hook up and run my Xbox 360 in my room. It is plausible. So tonight I'll be hoping to test out Halo: Reach with a stream using Firefight. Anyone on Xbox 360 with Halo: Reach want to play a round with me around 8pm EST tonight?

My standby games will be Blacklight: Retribution or State of Decay, but I'm up for playing anything I own or buying something to play with others. Too bad Battlefield 4 doesn't have PC-console cross-platform multiplayer.

I created a GWJ Extra Life Steam group to coordinate any PC multiplayer games!

I'm a "PC Master Race" type of gamer, so the latest console multiplayer games I have are Modern Warfare 2 or The Last of Us on the PS3. I could set my laptop up to stream console games, if I was really committed.

Okay, original post updated with everyone's individual page except for...well I'm not completely sure which GWJer is Steve Everett, unless I missed a post somewhere. So deepest apologies to Steve.

Someone brought up the idea of using the GWJ Ventrilo server to communicate, and thinking on it, I think that's a fantastic idea. Our Twitch streams might include info on how to join in the channel in our Welcome Messages, so anyone watching the streams can be part of the conversation. I think it would also be a great way to liven up some of the play sessions and help us all keep awake 25 hours.

I know myself I'd likely have to drop out at times, as I'm a console gamer and I'll be unable to use the "hold key down to talk" thing comfortably. So as I'm sure people in the Vent chat wouldn't be too interested in some of my chatter, I'll be in/out.

We just need an "Extra Life" room set up. I'm not overly familiar with Vent, so I don't know if we need to communicate with the server owner about creating a room or what. However, I think that'll definitely help us all together, let alone anyone that just wants to listen to the chatter or follow along.

Yeah, I mentioned in my video using either the GWJ Vent server or if that wasn't cool, just setting up my own. I thought it would be cool cause like you said, people can just hang out and chat, even if they aren't playing anything. I think there's a few people on the Vent server who have the access to create rooms but I'm not sure who any of them are.

Also Chris, Xeknos is Steve Everett.

Woot!

Went to a family event last night, ended up getting several donations from relatives. Went ahead and raised my goal again.

Only 2 more weeks until lift off.
