Sorry US

That's ok, the reviews don't make it seem like I'm missing much

no, it doesn't seem to be much more than Google Ingress with more targets.

Once I'm near a target I'll try hacking it and see what happens.

Got an email about a month ago on this for the US. Just wasnt a fan of putting an Ubisoft app on my phone.

Awesome, I can't wait.

Delayed until 2014.

Not that the Fall onslaught being one large, long open-world title shorter doesn't help but this was probably the game I was most looking forward to this holiday season. I wonder if since this game really does look a lot like Assassin's Creed in a modern setting, that they weren't worried about cannibalization.

Sheeeeeit. Hope this doesn't invalidate my launch day bundle.

Hopefully this means it'll be at 60fps when it launches instead of 30.

Yikes!

Isn't WD like at the top of most XB1/PS4 customer launch lists?

Oh boy.

I'm almost always pleased by these announcements, because they tell me that the game isn't being rushed out the door in an unfinished state, or at least, not yet. Bravo, I say. Especially given their recent comments on, what was it, not guaranteeing it was going to be 1080p, and only targeting 30fps? Something like that.

Now I'm not sure what, if any, launch games are interesting. And Watch Dogs may compete with the release window for Dark Souls 2, which is a losing proposition for Ubisoft, imho. If I'm playing DS2 when this comes out, I may well wait for a Watch Dogs price drop - especially if the multiplayer is unexciting. I really like what I've heard about that, but I want more details.

My conspiracy theory is that the delay is due to the quality of GTA V and that watch dogs would have reviewed poorly in its wake.

This was my first thought as well.

I am completely fine with this, even if I was looking forward to purchasing a new game for my WiiU.

That basically means the only big AAA games I'm looking forward to for the rest of the year are Batman and South Park, which isn't bad considering how these holidays usually turn out.

I'm a little sad, but at the same time, my pre-order wsa on the PC so having just preordered BF4 for Oct 29 i'll already have stuff. Plus PS4 on Nov 15, well, my Nov is full already.

If I had to put on a tin-foil hat, I'd say it's Ubi not wanting WD & AC4 to cannibalize each other.

Awwwwwwwwww. I was going to buy both for PS4 either way, I was just looking more forward to WD. :'(

I'd love to see that too but a major rewrite of the graphics technology is going to require a lot more than a few months. It looks like they've also delayed The Crew. So basically, all their new IP that was going to kick off next-gen is now next year. Sony and Microsoft must just be loving this. It's surprising though how many non-hardcore gamers I know who basically just think Watch_Dogs is just another Assassin's Creed-like title set in modern day. Delaying it this late makes me think they're really scared sales of one will be taken away from the other. Personally, as much as I love AC, I would rather have seen that given more time to breathe, especially after AC3.

Or maybe they're delaying so they can be a launch title on the Steam Machine...

They're running Unreal Engine, aren't yet? So it's not as much a matter of rewriting core graphics technology as it would be working with Epic to optimize the engine's code to run on the newer hardware.

That said, I doubt very much they're delaying the game for the sake of next-gen consoles. The Xbox One and PlayStation 4 are sexy, and there's no doubt Ubisoft is happy to have their games headlining them right now, but they'll constitute a small fraction of the game's overall sales compared to current-gen consoles and the PC. The longer polishing and development time might help those platforms get a better version, but this is probably to prevent Assassin's Creed 4 and Watch_Dogs from cannibalizing one another's sales.

This was the only AAA game I was planning on buying this fall, so this news is a bit disappointing, but I'll quickly get over it. As always, I'm fine with devs taking a few extra months to polish their game.

I know Assassin's Creed runs on their own internal engine called Anvil Next. I believe all their open world stuff does now.

I am pretty happy about this. There is just too much to play this time of year and I want to be able to give this game more attention. Spring is a bit far though.

It's actually a boon to my efforts to finish playing (or start) a bunch of current gen titles. More time for me to play catch up on:

Dragon's Dogma
Saints Row 4
Batman AC
Fallout 3 / NV
Mass Effect 2 / 3
Amalur
etc.

Apparently it's using an engine developed specifically for it called Disrupt.

This news has turned a difficult decision into a much easier one for me -- I just canceled my console pre-orders. Might upgrade the ol' PC and just go with that version now.

Amazon's just confirmed that the bundled system pre-orders will still ship for launch date.

Just to let you know your pre-order items(s) are currently awaiting the release date. We'll send you a Shipment Notice email as soon as the inventory is ready.

This order contains
Items(s) currently on order: Release date

Watch Dogs (PC) 19 Nov, 2013

Futureshop (bestbuy canada) still thinks it's not changed...I guess they'll get the memo soon.

Which is supposed to be their engine for the next few years. They're probably ironing kinks out of the game.

I have similar suspicions. I watched a trailer this morning and the action looked a lot like a poor GTA V. And I wasn't blown away by the graphics either.

This game has intrigued me since it was first announced, but it's always had the potential to be a dog's breakfast. It currently looks like a combination of GTA and Deux Ex: HR, with some Demons/Dark Souls-esque online features bundled in. There's a lot that Ubisoft have to get right in order for it to work.

My biggest fear, though, is the hacking mechanic. I don't recall having seen any demos or explanations, so I'm guessing we're looking at a mini-game. I found hacking frustrating enough in Bioshock and Deux Ex: HR that I started, but never finished either game. I dread the thought of having to play a poorly designed/implemented mini-game when it's the main mechanic in game and non-optional.

There is no minigame. You just do it. It's an ability.
