Hey, you'll never guess what movie is coming out this week. Unless, of course, you look at the upcoming release list for the week and realize that the Spiderman 3 videogame tie-in is simultaneously being released on seven systems, including the Gameboy Advance. You've got to appreciate the plucky tenacity of the GBA, which not only manages to hang around despite the chart busting Nintendo DS, but actually makes a dent in the charts itself. I think it may be fair to say that, except for perhaps the NES for its cultural relevance, the Gameboy Advance may be the most significant game system in history. So, for what is likely the first and last time, I'm making a GBA game Game of the Week. It had to be Spiderman 3 out of sheer tenacity, and after all the Spidey 2 game was pretty good, but the nod to the GBA version as GotW is all about showing the system some respect.
This week on DVD we have the remake of the Rutger Hauer horror classic The Hitcher starring Sean Bean. You know, maybe it's just me but I don't see what's so great about Sean Bean. I'm just sayin'. More DVD mediocrity here.

Fairy Godmother Tycoon?
I think they have officially run out of ideas.
Maybe they can still produce Proctology Clinic Tycoon.
Let's press on! And on and on and on!
No kidding. The PC title names are real winners this week.
Words... are a big deal.

I wonder if it will actually ship this time, I really want to see how this X-Com clone turns out!

Woo! Another week to catch up on the stack.

No love for Spiderman 3? The second game was brilliant so I only have high hopes for its sequel.

I have hopes for the Wii version of Spidey 3. Webslinging was the best part of the first games; full-body implementation could be so totally cool. We'll see come Friday, I guess...
If you rule like Megatron, you're going to raise Starscream.
I was a huge fan of Spidey 2 as well. Here's hoping they maintained the magic. The screenshots look promising.

Did somebody have a fight? And is it in the podcast?
I wish you guys would stop encouraging him.

I'm just surprised Certis didn't rise to the bait.
Certis: Quintin is both smart and attractive.
Fedaykin98: Good lord, I wouldn't have expected brilliance like that from that nemeslut Quintin Stone!
Yonder: It's weird to say this, but Quintin Stone may be the wisest person here.
Judging by the cover and tagline, it's a Shrek 3 tie-in.

The cover for Fairy Godmother Tycoon looks like the makers are using the Disney-fied versions of fairy tales. I'd actually be up for this game if they kept in the darker stuff. That'd be one messed up game.
Anyone checked the Spiderman 3 wii version?
I really enjoyed Ultimate Spiderman, and Im all redy in spidey pijama to play it..
Hasbro may have bought the name Avalon Hill 10 years ago but to borrow a phrase, I knew Avalon Hill. It was a friend of Mine. You sir are no Avalon Hill.
How great could the Wiimote be for Spidey if properly done?
The answer is "very."

There's a decent open source clone out there, called (similarly) UFO:Alien Invasion
Linux-playable + multiplayer modes; not fully polished, but quite decent and very true to the source material.
Spider-Man 3? Call me closed-minded (go ahead, I'll wait), but I refuse to buy/play tie-in games out of principle, and their track record of terribleness. I blame Total Recall for the NES.
Have you heard that new Kenny Winker record?
Almost all the Spider-Man games have been really good. Try those instead of just basing you opinions on one genre from a game so old you don't even remember it.
I was not terribly excited about my purchase of Ultimate Spiderman for the DS. A puzzle game with time limits, ugh.
Fun fact: The Phil Dick story that Total Recall is based on is We Can Remember it for You Wholesale. Suspect memories of a game about a movie about a story about false memories = Happy Wordsmythe! Also, that's totally the kind fo think Sr. Dick would have loved.
Now, on with your OoCT-ing.

Defensive much? Would it please the jury if I downloaded a ROM and re-tortured myself? Fair enough, perhaps Spider Man breaks the well established mold of awfulness; but statistically speaking, I think my position is defensible. Sorry, not a gamblin' man.
Plus, I ain't interested in buying an advertisement.
Have you heard that new Kenny Winker record?
I wish all the advertisement were as fun as the two last Spiderman games..
I just dont get it, we use to have lots of reviews for games I dont care, and now I dont know if I must buy the Wii or the PC version of this game, or both..
Oh! and BTW, why is not Catan GOTW? Its released this Wednesday I think (its not too late to change the game of the week ) link
(second edit in a row) and for all of you who hasnt tried the penumbra demo... I hvae to say that Im into buying it, looks promising, and scary ..

Nothing for me. I'll rent Spider-Man 3 at some later date.
