COSMOS U/I for WoW - do you use it?

Has anyone found a way to move the chat window?

Careful. You should know that it took me 3 hours from the point I put the CD in the drive until I was able to create my first character. This includes about 1.5h for the install, .5h for the download and install of the patch, and about and hour waiting in the queue on opening night. YMMV.

Yeah, I think the DVD in Collector''s Edition really gets stuck on some files and my DVD drive had to wind down to the slowest speed and retry multiple times on reading them, hence the slow-ass install.

The rogue helper is one of those things that seems neat at first, but I rarely look at. It shows you exactly how much energy you have and an actual number for your combo points. I don''t really have a problem counting up to five myself, but ok. The energy thing was exciting, but the problem is, it''s off to the side and I don''t have time to look over... I just wait til I see the button light up with edge of vision. I have too much to do gouging adds and what not to take the time to check if I''ve got enough energy to do something neat. Plus, I can''t remember what the hell the skills need

And now that I think about it, you tend to get a feel for skills as you play anyway and learn your timing that way. I sometimes do mental countdowns for major skills if it''s getting wild, but I guess I wouldn''t use it except when I was first starting a rogue.

One thing that sux wether cosmos or default is the lack of the ability to move game windows around.

you can move your chat box around by clicking the general tab and unlocking the chat box. Once you have it in the place you want it you can lock it again.

""Census is a World of Warcraft UI customization which allows you to keep track of your realm''s population. Get a complete breakdown of characters by race, class and level."" Requires Cosmos.

I haven''t tried it yet but will tonight for sure.

I''ve also found options in Cosmos to offset the chatbox (you can move it higher lower in it''s default location). This is handy because the bottom line was being blocked by my stances.

You can also shrink or expand the chat window by the way... took me awhile - I actually did it by accident...

Ok, I''ve been tearing my hair out trying to get Cosmos to run. I downloaded the Cosmos.exe file, ran it and set it to get the Alpha version. I also enabled to checkmark to AutoRun WoW. It appears to download the latest files, then WoW starts up fine but once I get into the game I can''t see the ""C"" button near the Minimap to activate it. Does anyone happen to know what I''m doing wrong?

DON''T USE COSMOS ALPHA.
STICK TO BETA (RECOMMENDED).

This has been a public service message.

I had the ''autorun'' feature on back in the original ST but soon turned it off, if there''s an error downloading it will autorun WOW anyway and you can''t see if something is goofy.

Try deleting/moving the Interface(s) folder (not sure if there''s an s on the end) from the WOW directory, this is where all the custom UI files go (if there''s nothing there the defaults get used, if there is something there they get used).

Beta is recommended but I so love the menu in Alpha.

Cosmos is configured through the ESC menu. Hit ESC and click ""Cosmos Options"". Tons of things to turn on or off

This may sound like a stupid question, but I am organizationally inept and need the help.

Does anyone have a good ""system"" of things to keep track of using the minimap pushpins/and different colored pins? Last night I started marking where some vendors/trainers were (if they were in out of the way places; I''m obviously not marking down everyone in Stormwind or Ironforge).

It occurred to me that 1 month from now it will likely have been very beneficial to have a good system on what to note/not note that is consistently applied from the beginning. I''m just terrible at coming up with such systems; I tend to either make it so complex that it is indecipherable or too much information, or so simple that I still can''t find what I want.

Alpha works fine. Just use the update feature in the Cosmos folder and you will be ready.

I have one color for Shaman related places/people (specifically trainer areas). I have one color for Herb/Alchemy places/people. And I have a third color for specific locations. I''m too lazy to mark where I get quests from because I never know which ones I''m actually going to complete. I love the feature that lets me send map markers to other people. Is that just a Cosmos thing or can you do that in vanilla WoW? Mmmmm....vanilla WoW.

So how do you put pins on the map? Sorry if it was explained already and I missed it. I made one by accident and couldn''t recreate it.

You can put pins on the map?? Mah goodness, Ah''ve got tuh read me sum manual, Ah think... (Unless it''s a Cosmos thing, in which case I''ve gotta find something else to read. )

First off it''s on the BIG map not the minimap. Minimap-wise all you get is the gold circle that your partymates can see.

It took me a few tries to figure out the click speed required but all you do is double click somewhere on the zone map and a dot will appear. You can then name it and add details or delete or whatever.

Yeah, it is awesome. Like said earlier, you can also change its color or send it to another player. ""Hey here is where you find that quest giver"" type stuff.

I only found it by accident and had tried to recreate it. Thanks Eezy!

There''s also that handy dandy little blue and white CosmosUI button on the lower left of your minimap that gets you there, too.

I tried out the map marker last night and that is pretty dang cool. Cosmos = the sh*te.

Has anyone tried out the CTMod yet? Just wondering.

I need someone to see if my cosmos questsharing is working properly or not. Richyrambo and Apophis were never able to see my quests/status when grouped in the OB/ST but I''ve reinstalled Cosmos with retail.

Jimmdogg still hasn''t gotten with the program, as I can tell he''s stucking having to deal with the slow write times of the default UI when getting quests. Get with it MAN!

Do the map pins work on city maps?

I was messing with this last night and could put pins on the zone maps just fine, but when I would try to doubleclick on a city map it changes to the zone map that city is in.

I have a hard time playing without it. I use the 2nd hotbar quite a bit. I stick food and drink in the left sidebar, so I don''t have to open a pack every time. I stick health and mana potions in the right sidebar, along with other ""emergency-use"" items.

The /tloc functionality along with locations from thottbot is nice for finding things. I wouln''t recommend using this all the time, as half the fun is exploring. But if you''re getting frustrated trying to find something, or if you''re just re-hashing quests on a new character, it''s useful.

Oh, and quick-loot is nice too.

what''s tloc?

thottbot location, thottbot keeps track (if you update stats to it) of the coordinates you find something. I believe /tloc will give the coordinates TB has for an item/mob.

interesting

/tloc will put a marker on the map at the coordinates you specify... some quest spoilers on thottbot have the coordinates available.

Hmmmm - will have to check that out...
