The Keys To Happiness - a Steam & Origin (and Desura!) key giveaway and trading thread

I choose to interpret that so I can pay it forward to goodjers.

I got two free Steam keys when I bought my video card. One of them was Hitman Absolution. Unfortunately, I'm a damned fool and didn't realize that I'd picked it up in a Steam sale and never even bothered to install it. I learned this when I attempted to activate the new key, so I'm not all that sure that this key is still valid, but if someone wants to give it a try, pm me. No coffee grinders, please.

edit: claimed.

Agreed. Though I do still feel bad about it sometimes.

Many thanks to Redwing for the gift of Xcom!

I saw that and thought the same thing. But I figure as long I'm not selling it or personally gaining from it, I'm cool with giving extra keys away. Otherwise, the key goes completely unused.

And I want that extra key/game to sit in someone else's pile of shame besides mine.

XCOM is back up for grabs, I'll repost my list:

XCOM Enemy Unknown Claimed!
Torchlight
Bioshock
Nuclear Dawn

And yes, non-grinders please. New accounts created just to get keys can jog on! (I've been on the receiving end of this as well)

I agree with Foxua. As long as we're not selling it, as long as we paid for it, more people are enjoying the game... I don't see any issue with it. Of course, only the gang at Humble could truly validate us.

I guess their issue is that everyone should be buying the bundle for themselves, rather than one purchase and dividing the games between numerous people. Usually here it's because a person already has said game, so the Dev isn't really losing out (in a way), but the charity is

Oh that's completely true, but think of it this way: would that person have bought the Bundle had a fellow goodjer not received the key? I'm not going to buy the Bundle this time around. I already own all of them except Brütal Legend (which I don't really have any interest in), Eets Munchies (haven't heard anything about it) and Fez (I'll buy it eventually, I guess, but the pile!!). If someone gives me a key, they're not taking anything away from the charity, since I wouldn't have gotten it anyway.
Right?

Okay, maybe I'm reading way too much into this, back to work with me! XD

While I agree, that's the big can of worms, which is best served (and has been discussed at length) elsewhere - It's not a lost sale. We'll just leave it at that, El, before we lose the 'happiness' part of this thread!

I'm also skipping this bundle as it doesn't grab me, for a change. Or at least, the things that do, I already have.

Work, ditto, blergh. But at least it's Friday!

Agreed. Maybe I'll end up getting the Bundle anyway, who knows. For Fez and for the joy of bestowing Mark of the Ninja, FTL and Trine 2...

Excellent point that I had not considered.

Yeah, but I don't follow it. I do like the humble bundles (and similar charity bundle sites) because that's usually where I get my indie games, compared to steam sales. But even then there's often games that I double up on and pass on to others.

I also have keys from the latest Humble Bundle, free to the first non-coffee grinder.

Brutal Legend
FTL
Mark of the Ninja
Trine 2

edit: Brutal Legend has been claimed Oops. Everything is still available.

Also just realized I have a Nigthsky key as well

FTL is gone.

These are still available:

Brutal Legend
Mark of the Ninja
Trine 2
Nightsky

Non-Coffee-Grinders only

I know Sodagremlin has Nightsky on his wish list

Still up for grabs +1:

- Battlefield 3 (Origin) - Gone!
- Metro 2033, Risen, and Sacred Citadel (Steam - single key) Claimed by PurEvil
- The Showdown Effect (Steam)

PM if interested.

Humble Bundle just added:

Rocketbirds: Hardboiled Chicken
A Virus Named TOM
Bastion
LIMBO

I've got an extra key for Bastion to any non-grinder.

Ditto - Bastion up for grabs here too.

After the Humble Bundle update, I have the following left

A Virus Named TOM - This is a really fun puzzle game where you play a computer virus. I gave up on it in the last (6th) area because it finally got too hard for me, but the first 5 areas were really good.
Bastion
LIMBO
Mark of the Ninja
Nightsky
Trine 2

Is that brutal legend key still out there? I played the demo on console and thought it was fun but I think I got distracted and forgot about it.

How are the PC controls?

Machinarium

Someone should take this. It's an excellent puzzle game, and has one of the best game soundtracks ever, IMO.

I'd take a Mark of the Ninja key if still available.

Check your orders, soldier.

Ha. I just realized I'm not a Grinder anymore so I can offload keys with the usual restrictions and not feel hypocritical.

Not much unique on my list:

Machinarium
Worms Revolution
Mark of the Ninja
LIMBO
Bastion

Thanks! I will miss with my next five rockets!

Oh and choose your damn tag already!

I'm keeping A Virus Named TOM out of the add ons....which means I have keys for the other three available.

Any takers?

I have a spare key to the Golden Jubilee Bundle for the first non-grinder who wants it. They're desura and greenlight games. PM me if you want it. Cheers.

So, I'm just going to throw this out there and not specifically ask for anything in relation to it.

I have a close friend who's 10 year old has just discovered gaming (His dad was given/sold cheaply a ""new"" XP era PC, [as you can guess the Dad is a dinosaur in regards to technology] {And they aren't wealthy} ). The kid has been playing minecraft but I was over on the weekend and convinced the dad/kid combo to install Steam for the free games.

If you guys have/come across anything that might be appropriate (for a 10 year old) for me to forward, I'd (and I know they'd) be really appreciative.

Thanks.

Here's what I have to give away:
- Plain Sight x2 (may even be something for the dad-kid combo above)
- The Misadventures of P.B. Winterbottom
- Fallout: New Vegas

PMs please, as I rarely read the forums anymore.
