iOS, iPhone and iPad Hardware Catch All - WWDC Today at 10PST

You can revert it by putting the phone into DFU mode while it's plugged into the computer- iTunes will restore it from backup after resetting it with the current OS.

Fine, you twisted my arm!

Thanks for the info, ruhk -- downloading now and will give it a shot.

No dice -- from Windows, it does a restore to iOS7 but then starts the initial phone set-up. So my options are to restore from iCloud (which doesn't truly restore everything) or from iTunes (which I can't because you need the iTunes 11.1 beta to recognize any iOS 7 device. Oh well, it was worth trying -- I'll wait until next week. DFU mode, here I come...

I'm selling my iPhone 5 on Gazelle for $325 and upgrading to the 32 gig iPhone 5S for free, essentially. I don't love iOS, but I like it more than any Android phone I've ever played with.

So I sent my 5 in for repair this week (the lock button stopped working) and Apple sent me back a brand new phone. As of this morning I'm in possession of a pristine 32gb iPhone 5. I still have a year left on my contract, but I'm wondering what I could sell my phone for? Could I potentially take advantage of the replacement and get myself a free 5s? I've never sold a phone before...

Gazelle is offering me $330 for my phone. Guess I'll wait and see what my upgrade cost would be when Verizon starts allowing 5S pre-orders.

I've updated annually with new Apple phones since the 3G. I've never had an issue with the price being higher than what everyone else pays.

Gazelle is between $320 and $335 or so for every model of iPhone 5. I tried perfect and good, and the difference is only $10, so, even though I just got my 5 replaced, I picked good. It really seems silly to me NOT to upgrade.

Just got an email from IT at work asking us not to upgrade if we have work mail configured because they haven't tested iOS 7 yet. No timetable.

Guess I'll be deleting my work Exchange account on my phone.

I read somewhere (can't find the link, sorry) that iOS 7 is laggy on 3rd gen iPads. Can anyone confirm or deny this?

Mine did the same but I simply showed him that default mail worked just fine. However, we use Gmail for our Email. He was cool after that and impressed someone in the office knew how to get iOS7 early. Geek Cred +1

I'll give it a try and report back when the update pushes out tomorrow.

Anandtech's detailed review of the iPhone 5s is out:

It looks like most of Apple's claims about performance hold up, the A7 compares well to Intel's new Atoms.

It's like the Monty Python foot squashed the design!

I have most of the built in apps are in an "Apple Crap" folder. I think that their yearly update cycle on those apps hurt them and for the most part are better alternatives.

Same here. At least Newstand finally justified its existence now that I've got a magazine sub. Still haven't found a use for Passbook.

Wow I have had 20 app updates this morning alone. Lucky for me they auto updated with ios 7 but the app store in general is getting hammered. I can't even do a search!

I use Passbook for my Starbucks card.

Also, the update is live. Downloading now!

Curious about this mostly because I'm not sure if I should update my ipad 2 or not. It's past that point where updates like to start stomping on performance for older models.

I got iOS 7 loaded on my work iPad mini. It looks so much better. It feels a bit less snappy than the previous OS, but it's worth it for the much needed aesthetic update. In reality, the reason it feels less snappy is that the transition animations just take a bit longer.

Just a heads up to everyone. You will have to re-download your apps in the app store. Their place on your phone will be the same such as their page and folder location but they wont carry over to your iOS7 update. Not for me anyway.

I was fine with it because I looked at it more like spring cleaning.

It's terrible for light themed backgrounds, like my Calvin & Hobbes snow background

Also, changing wallpapers on the iPad 3 has been nothing short of agonizing. Like, seriously rough.

As in laggy? I don't really pay too much attention to the release cycle with apple products these days. How does that compare to the 3 compare to the mini? I changed to one of the dynamic backgrounds (awesome by the way) without any issues.

At any rate, I have had zero issues with the iPad mini iOS 7 install other than a couple issues initially getting the download from Apple's servers. I'm guessing they got swamped.

I've got it running on my iPhone 4, and it's no slower than iOS 6 was. Looks real nice, even without fancy 3D and translucency. Still playing around with it and haven't read any reviews so don't know what all the little changes are. Did notice that when looking at a MMS'ed photo, there's a button to see a list of all photos/vids that contact has texted you. Handy!

Can't wait to try it on my wife's iPhone 5 and our iPad 3 tonight.

Heheh. I just realized that the dynamic bubble themes use the gyroscope to subtly move the bubbles. Nice.

I took the plunge on the iPhone 4 as well even though Ars was saying to expect a performance hit. So far it doesn't feel any slower aside from the longer animations for most tasks. Looking forward to updating the iPad when I get home.

Heh, yeah I started reading that article after I started updating. The iPhone 4 is already getting appreciably slow (though not frustrating "iOS 4 on a 3GS" slow), but iOS 7 makes it no worse. I already know not to bother with the camera if I want to catch something quickly—so what's an extra second.

It's just you. My apps are doing just fine on the 4 devices updated thus far.

iOS7 is the first time I noticed my iPhone 4S getting at all sluggish. Not big enough or frequent enough to seriously distract me, but still. The overall smoothness has always been something I've really prized in iOS.

The new photo collections are a huge improvement, but the navigation is awkward.

Game Center isn't quite as big a laugh as before, but it's still weird.

I forgive a lot just for the new control center. I realize it's a bit ridiculous to thank designers for finally adding shortcuts to stuff you've had to dig through so many menus before, but whatever, it's really welcome.

Biggest daily improvement may actually be the calendar. So much better!

There are ads unless you are an iTunes Match subscriber. I think you're also limited to skipping 6 songs per hour.

I'm also noticing a tiny bit of sluggishness with an iPhone 4S. Nothing too bad and some of it may just be the change in transitions. Doesn't matter too much for me, as I'll be upgrading to a 5S as soon as they're available.

Bummed to see it's a little sluggish on the 4S. I was thinking I'd wait another cycle before upgrading hardware, as I love how responsive & snappy my phone has managed to be for 2 years.

Anyone try it on 3rd gen iPad? I watch the Verge video review -- they mentioned general bugginess on iPads in general, but sounds like mini is fine...

What makes the iTunes Radio appealing vs Pandora? I had never heard of iTunes Radio before you mentioned it, I'm curious what the difference is.
