Warface Catch-All

Warface is a class based F2P FPS developed by Crytek and Trion Worlds. It features cooperative PvE missions, as well as Battlefield-style team based PvP.

Warface uses Gface as a launching platform & social media layer. The idea will be readily recognizable to anyone who has ever used Battlelog.

Beta has gone live, so it's time for the GWJ crew who have access to friend up!

Shoot, I just posted a similar thread. I'll ask for mine to be closed.

I'm MannishBoy for friend requests.

Trion has done a number of streaming events on Twitch.tv with the designers playing Warface while they comment and answer questions. I think it's a bit easier to grasp the game by watching those as opposed to the Russian player streams.

Here's a link to one, and you can find the others in the sidebar.

Got my beta invite this morning! My machine at home won't wake up (uh oh) so I'll have to download it when I get home but I'll be Parallax Abstraction on GFACE. Really want to try this out.

I saw this awhile back but forgot to apply. Whenever i get access i'll let folks know.

Elrar you may see on the stream is also the community manager for NA ArcheAge

I got a code for 200 K (I'm assuming it just means 200 and the in-game currency is called K, not that it's 200,000) at PAX East.
First come, first serve: LGMF-W29C-NGEQ-E2FP-6RJ9

Nothing to see here, thought we were talking about a different game

And redeemed, thanks for posting. Seeing as it sat there for 12-ish hours before I did it though I wonder if it's not perhaps a multi-use code. Someone else should try and see.

Based on how the card looked, I'd say each card had its own code printed on it, so it's probably a one-use-only code.

Looks like they just opened up testing again after a 3+ months reset. Just got an invite to the new round.

EUROPE: Friday September 13th 12PM CET – Monday September 16th 12PM CET
US: Friday September 13th 6AM EST – Monday September 16th 6AM EST

Let us know if they improved the movement feel. This game felt horrible, so I deleted it quickly.

I will be checking this game out later this week now that I'm back from holidays. Looks to have some promise.

Like there aren't any other games to play right now, right?

?? there's loads better but since this is free... why not.

It's not bad, but not great either.

I received my code for the beta and was expecting them to release the game so I could install it use my code to enable it. Apparently that isn't how it works. You add your code into the redeem code box and then it downloads the game. Not very clear.

It's downloading now. The game looks fun.

I played a bit of this on 360. Hit and miss to get started at all but when it does the games ran fairly smoothly.

A bit slower than COD but similar sized small maps from tiny to medium.

It feels slightly awkward and fiddly to do the class stuff but it might be just getting used to it. As a medic it always took me too long to revive without getting killed on these small maps. Nobody revives, gives out ammo or fixes your armour.

Spawn trapping looks like it could be a Homefront sized problem. Enemy players can walk into the spawn area.

The big stopper on this might be access to the better equipment. The are different currencies: crowns, K and $s. You get $s after each game but you need other points to actually buy stuff and I can't see how to get those points without paying real world cash. There are unlocks over time so it might be you get everything anyway.

Hangar must be the most uninspired map of all time.

Shotgun seems to be useless. I can't see any reason why you wouldn't use engineer with SMG over anything else. Might be bigger maps on full release.

That's about it for me too.

Edit to add that I played versus and not coop.

This is out now...anyone playing? Thoughts?

It's free, so I figure why not give it a try.

edit:

Well, it's decently fun. Pretty standard fare. Ironically, I like it better than Black Ops 1 and 2.

The tutorials, though, are a study in how tutorials should be written. Except...in the tutorial for the medic, it has you hitting 6 for the defib, when in versus, you hit 5 twice.

Other than that...pretty fun for free. I didn't play much co-op, but that would be much better with you all with mics. Team Deathmatch maps I tried were pretty standard, but the cool thing is you can boost each other up on top of roofs and high boxes. Not much of that action in pub games, but when there is...real advantage.

I tried it but it left me cold. Free to play trappings always seem to kill my interest in a game.

Yea they still have a limited map selection and if you're playing objective maps you can easily get demolished with a sh*tty team. It was nice to see them revamp their tutorial and the coop is somewhat decent. It looks pretty and a very middling game.
