April 16th - 20th

Ummm, yeah, so I have no actually good options for this week's Game of the Week, so, I've decided to throw a bone to lovers of games from Japan, and proudly proclaim that Eureka Seven Volume 2: The New Vision for the PS2 is this week's GotW. Finally the long awaited sequel to Eureka Seven Volume 1 EX Hyper Go Time Edition is here with everything you've come to expect from the franchise including - Giant Robots, Corny Dialogue, Things Going Whoosh to Action Backgrounds and Cultural Stereotypes! Presumably some tie in to an anime program watched by many many ones of people, Eureka Seven Volume 2: The New Vision is everything we could hope for from a Game of the Week in that it is coming out this week. Enjoy!

I don't know why I like Jeremy Piven, because I have to assume he's a jerk, but I just do. So I'll be popping Smokin' Aces up on my Netflix queue this week. Other new releases here.

UFO: Extraterrestrials (04/17)
Made Man (04/19)

WII:
Bust-a-Move Bash! (04/17)

PS2:
Raiden III (04/17)
Tokyo Xtreme Racer DRIFT 2 (04/17)
Eureka Seven Vol. 2: The New Vision (04/17)

Comments

I'm shocked someone's trying to sell Bust a Move at $40.

I thought they changed the name for Pocket Pool? Hm.

I'll be checking out Valhalla Knights before I buy it if at all.

From what I've heard Piven is a dick. Aramina related a tale to me obtained through Perez Hilton or someone about him chucking an Entourage DVD at a dude at a restaurant during a tantrum. That dude should consider himself lucky, I had to pay for that puppy.

VENTURE BROTHERS SEASON TWO!

Oh, Awesome!

I want to be hired to name Japanese things. I've already translated the store on campus as SuperHappyLuckyDragonFightMarket. Yes, I can say that extremely fast without stumbling.

Greatest GotW write up EVAR.

How is Smokin' Aces?

He laughed about that on Leno, said the story was a complete fabrication.

Rotten Tomatoes hated it.

And thank you, Elysium, for throwing us lovers of Japanese games a bone. Because surely this cynical marketing tie-in based on a crappy series is the quintessential Japanese game, and anyone that does not love it does not even remotely like Japanese games in general.

I honestly wouldn't know. Am I right? Is this a tie in to an anime show? I was guessing, and mostly just being tongue-in-cheek.

It is an anime show. It wasn't even that good, mediocre at best.

Read this review. Best. Review. Ever.

Especially since the Smokin' Aces people then took it (or rather, bits and pieces thereof) and popped it into their TV trailers.

^^^ That review rocks. Also, I watched this movie and it sucks more than a Bill Clinton's intern.

How topical.

Isn't UFO:Extraterrestrials that X-Com remake? Surely even the sh*ttiest game trying to ripoff X-Com is better than a game from Japan?

Well having just installed DosBOX, have to say... REDUNDANT!!!!

How about Raiden III? A worthy shmup?

If anyone was curious about Eureka Seven here is the third ending just to give you an idea about the art style and animation.
