Tabletop RPG Catch All

Ok all Numenera characters are built in both Obsidian Portal and Roll20. Some great work by you guys - appreciate the effort on your stuff on Obsidian Portal. Tiger and I went and ran an encounter in Roll20 today and it worked out great and pointed out some flaws in my knowledge. Great thing is combat is very streamlined and the system is very friendly to "on the fly" resolutions of every scenario. Let me know if anyone is interested in jumping on and running through a scenario. I am usually on working the module but if I dont answer I have stepped away.

If you've got a hankerin' for some Old West / alternate universe gunslingin', I reckon you'd better check out this new system which is a heckuva hoot and a hollerin'.

The combat is really quite fun, as are the gambling, prospecting and leveling system. On shooting at someone, you lay your grid over where you want to shoot someone, roll the dice to see just how far from center you are and then draw a playing card that corresponds with the grid location. Makes combat quite realistic to what you'd find in the real Old West.

It's been many, many moons since I've played a tabletop RPG, but I'd love to get back into the hobby on something like Roll20. If anybody is looking to start something up anytime soon, and doesn't mind a less experienced player, let me know. I'm happy to make the time and monetary commitment to learning a system, and can easily carve some time out on a regular basis.

Wait, there's prospecting; where do I sign up for this. I'm gonna roll a crotchety ol' prospector, out to find the gold in dem dar hills.

we are just starting a game of Numenera, Monte Cook's new game. You can get the book in pdf form at drivethrurpg. You only need the players guide but the core book is well worth it. If you'd like to get involved with this game let me know. The first act gets run this Thursday.

Ok fellas - don't read the adventures in the Numenera Core book either - we will be drawing from them for the campaign as well. Those who already have - forget what you may have read :). I've put a link to the Bestiary in the wiki, but its not populated yet. Also, we are going to run a prelude scenario which should lay the groundwork on how you all came to be together.

Just picked up a bunch of indie games for a good price over at the bundle website. It even included the classic RPG "Sorcerer", which I've been wanting to read for a while. You can find more info at the site.

Welcome LukeMagnan to our humble Numenera Group. Im impressed with how much everyone has done with their characters and the interest. Will make for a great campaign. Ulairi may end up joining us as well, but his schedule is pretty tight these days. Also mudbunny may join in here and there as an observer. Also, because I did manage to figure out my Roll20 incompetency with the built in voice chat (pure operator error) I have my mic up and running now. I dont think there is a push to talk feature so just be advised that we will hear whats going on around you. I had to turn off my office ceiling fan because it was picking that up.

Dust Devils and Dog Eat Dog are also great. Last Best Hope I've played once and it was interesting but a little rough.

Thanks Spy. I've joined the websites and am plowing through the rule book now. I'll get a character created ASAP. I'm pretty excited!

Glad to have you - I saw you made it to Obsidian Portal. We are going to run through the Prelude adventure first. Look around the Wiki. I'll be populating more and more over the next few days. Let me know if you have any questions. feel free to jump on Roll 20 and launch the campaign - someone is usually on.

Great work everyone - all the characters are completed along with the character ties. The module is built in Roll20 so we are ready to go.

Torchbearer funders: be sure to check out the video attached to the latest "printed books delivered" update. They look really great.

I finally received my hard copy of Numenera. Book is huge and beautiful. Now if they would send me my character creation app.

They sent me a code for the Character Creation App last week. Unfortunately it was only good for the US iTunes store

I'm not sure how useful a character generator app for this system is. There is an online one in case anyone is looking for something until the app drops for them.

I'm just coming off Shadowrun 4 and D&D 4e, so this is a really refreshing change of pace.

Say, does anyone live in Canada and has gotten their book yet? Mine'll be here tonight, but it's been shipped via UPS which means I might have to pay an escrow fee Wondering if any fellow Canadians already have the book and if they had to pay extra to UPS for it?

I ended up playing a young doctor/dentist, while one of my friends played a prospector and the other played a cobbler/prospector/doctor's aide/extra set of hands, of all things. Had a heck of a good time getting into trouble and fighting off Indians and bandits from the little town we had set up in.

If you aren't/cant use it - I'll take it, still waiting for my Android one, but haven't received anything. I can use on my iPad for now.

Ok Numenera Campaign players - I owed you your first cyphers - here you go: Cyphers

You should have also received an email from the post. Let me know if you have any questions.

Mumford also posted some Useful Links

If anyone is interested in our campaign, go here: Numenera: A New Beginning

Ok 9th Agers - Monte Cook has released the adventure they ran at GENCON. Im going to go ahead and pick it up. So dont go reading it :). Looks like there may be some new art in it. I need some more good pictures.

I haven't gotten mine yet.

Also, I sent an email to Monte Cook games letting them know that I was in Canada and so they need to ensure the code is appropriate, and the person on the other end (Annie I think) said it made a difference. I should be getting a new code soonish.

Thankfully UPS didn't send me an escrow charge. But they DID leave it on the front step in full view of my street

I emailed them the day I discovered the code wasn't working and they pretty much said the same thing to me as well; that they're working on a solution and should have something to us ASAP

That means I should have it tomorrowish.

If I can gather up at least 4 people, I'll run a DCC funnel this Saturday, over Google hangouts, at 7pm central. If you're interested, just let me know on the G+ post here.

Dungeon Crawl Classics?

Yes sir! My mistake...I had it written in my first post, but my phone ingested it.

Are you rolling characters that night or beforehand?

Either way is cool. If you use the purple sorcerer app, you can have all four rolled up in seconds. Print it out and you're all set! It also has a die roller, assuming you don't have the funky dice.

Good first session of Numenera last night. Went a little longer than I planned., but sleep is for the weak. I'll start posting to the wiki this weekend. Please post the Numenera I have you or critical moments that we should log in the adventure journal and I'll update that as well. Also any feedback you have would be great as well.
