*chuckles* Was it the randomness, the backstabbing? Seemed like the entire evening the-gods-of-randomness were choosing odd directions for you to head..
The randomness inherent to the game. Having an occasional enemy with weird abilities to mix things up keeps stuff interesting, but when every creature you encounter has some bizarre ability that stretches things on longer . . . no thanks. I liked some of the mechanics of it, but the constant "screw whoever goes 1st/2nd/3rd every round" just started to get really old. Not a game I ever want to touch again with any size stick.

I enjoyed it. I think that things started to pick up once we got the mechanics down. I see your point on the crazy monster powers though. Having some weighted notations so that you could set the difficulty to your game would be helpful. That way you could have only a few crazy monsters. They did seem to distract some from the fun of being able to screw over your teammate. The best moments of the game seemed to be those rare ones where someone went after another person only to have a "Not So Fast" battle. I think if the monsters were easier to deal with, you could have more of these without the players feeling like they were going to not be able to kill the monster in the end.
Finally not on call at the end of the month! I picked up Kemet on a whim, and am hoping people will be game to try it out this Friday. Also have been semi-obsessed with Netrunner and will bring a couple of decks.
Sigh, will have to miss it, out of town till thursday, and need to spend some time with my wife(maybe have a data night) as I will be working at the renaissance festival all weekend, long, hot, 3 day weekend.
I have plans this weekend so won't be able to make it up. I the plus side, I put my house up for sale a few days ago and am hoping to move much closer to the cities. Hopefully no more long drives from St. Cloud for a few hours of board gaming goodness.
I'll be there.
I picked up Formula D in the Amazon sale a few weeks back based on recommendations in the boardgame thread; tried it once, really a nice diversion from usual board games. First time I've ever encountered a race car theme. I'll bring it along.
First time in several months that I am in town for one of these and...my wife gave me the "really?" look when I mentioned gaming night as she held our three week old son. I think I'll have better luck when his age is measured in months vs. weeks.
I have Dungeon Roll to teach as well:) the pieces are still waiting to be punched out/devirginized at the next session I am able to attend;)
Congratulations on the anniversary! I definately can't go if it is that Saturday as it is the last weekend of the renfest for the year, and that night is our cast party after hours so I have to work late doing security.
Should be able to come down tonight.
Bah. Wife is out so I'm on kid duty, and, well, even if she wasn't, it's Xbox One day, so I suspect I'll be lovingly dry-humping my new machine.
Uh, you should probably forget I said that.
I'm working nights this week, that is if the flu circulating my house ever stops. Hopefully next time
Have to babysit my niece and nephew last minute so won't be able to make it
Bummer, will be out of town that day:( Hopefully January I'll be able to make it!
I have a pretty full month with my house finally selling. Packing will most likely trump gaming
I should be there.
I'll be there, with a new copy of Tokaido I haven't tried yet.
I might be a little late, but I'll try to make it.
Will there be a board game night in January?
