Bush Recession my ass...

I just had a PTSD moment.

That's just the side effects from playing WoW at one point in your life. And with just $.10 a month you too can change a middle aged mans life by helping him move out of his mothers basement and conquer the horrendous effects of WOWPTSD.

**Side note** Farscry has been here since 2004!?

I could've sworn I joined in 2003, but definitely since 2004.

And yeah, when I saw a thread started by Ralcydan, I did a total spit-take.

Hey, now!

I was just slightly under 17-1/2 when this was posted. Man, wish I could go back.

You are a week or less than a week away from a 10-year anniversary.

Just curious, what did happen to "Rat Boy"? From some of the comments in this thread, it sounds like he got banned after a spectacular burn-out.

I bet he was the one behind Reuben getting chosen over Clay.

I think there was a thread where people talked about getting back in touch with Rat Boy, and in the end Certis locked it by saying something like 'I don't know why he's not around here anymore, but for whatever reason he's decided to not post anymore, and it's his choice and we should respect it' or something.

Yeah, the impression I got is that he moved on in his life. No big flameout that I recall.

Right. A huge percentage of people that were on the site when I first posted here around maybe mid-2005 are long gone. That's the nature of the internet. People develop other interests or begin to experience repetition. Some of their favorite posters drift away, and it gets boring. They move on.

I'M STILL HERE FOR YOU. I'VE ALWAYS BEEN HERE FOR YOU.

Hmm, interesting! I was about the same age.

It looks like I also joined in the same week as you, I joined in 2008, when I was around 22.

I'm now 27!

There's some big gaps there, I feel old.

I'm 27 and have been here since I was 17-18 years old. Time rolls on.

I clicked the thread and my first thought was "finally a thread where I can recognize people posting"

I had just turned 18 and had graduated high school when this thread was posted. I was also active on the "War on Terror" board over on GameFAQS. I miss a lot about those days, except I hadn't quite discovered GWJ yet - that wasn't until 2007.

I kind of miss the political climate in 2003. It was far more sane than it is now.

You and I remember Budapest very differently.

EDIT: As this has apparently become a reminiscing thread... I would have been 17.5 as well when this was posted... but it wasn't that long before I joined (9 years 45 weeks ago! I'll be at the decade mark in like two months!).

I think I started listening to GWJ in 2007 or so as well. I would listen to the podcasts while playing WoW. Then I got a real proper start in July 2008. Life was certainly much nicer in 2003. 2008 sucked in the second-half and the first half of 2009, but it was pretty good from there until 2012.

Yeah, it sucks!

Man, several of you guys are making me feel old. I'm on the cusp of 36.

Hey a fellow 30's! 31 here! Ya know it's funny because I remember the very first message board I posted on Final Fantasy Myths (or was it mists, ok maybe I don't remember it) and I was the young one, 18 years old bright eyed and I thought I knew everything. Ahhh those were the days.

Any of you late 20's experiencing you're body fall apart yet? That was around the time I realized that when I hurt myself things didn't quite recover as quickly hah.

LOL - I'm not that far from 40 - get off my lawn!!!

Of course I didn't start getting into GWJ until about 2008 when this podcast was one of the few things that helped me keep my sanity at a really crappy job.

Didn't mean to derail things - I saw Rat Boy's profile said "fired" and so I had assumed maybe he had been spectacularly kicked off the forums Derek Smart style.

Rat Boy wasn't fired!

Maybe you are confusing RatBoy and ralcydan? ralcydan was fired.

You also just reached 10 years on this site, gramps/granny!

Yes, but I receive treatment for it, so I am doing better than I have ever done.

Yeah, I may get sick a little more often and hurt a little more after strenuous work/activities, but I can actually afford healthcare, so I can at least get it treated right, even if it takes longer to get back in the saddle.

That's good to hear because I have to move next week. Stop by around 9 and bring a truss.

Actually that explains everything. So what's the story on Ralcydan? (Goes to grab popcorn).

Certis asked him to change the overall tone of his posts in P&C. He agreed to. A few days later he accused Clinton of raping Chelsea Clinton's friends. Certis had enough and banned him.
