Video Game Deals Catch-All

Can Origin please give me a sale on the stupid Bioware points? Pretty please?

I got sidetracked on my ME3 playthrough, and never went back to it. Now with all the DLC, I'd like to pick up a few and finish the game at some point.

Has only been one Bioware points sale on PC since Mass Effect 2 released. Stocked up then, to finish off ME2 and in anticipation of ME3. Of course they decided they needed to raise the price on the later ME3 DLCs even more, so I still didn't have enough to get them all.

I actually didn't pick up Dead Rising 2, or Crackdown for that matter... So these are interesting to me. And they're free so what the hell. I'm not going to dump on MS just because the games are older. Live has a long ways to go before they catch up to PS+ but at least I get to keep the games for good, and it's something that I didn't have before.

Anyone have a link to free Dead Rising 2 for XBL Gold members?

I can't find it.

Here you go http://marketplace.xbox.com/en-US/Product/Dead-Rising-2/66acd000-77fe-1000-9115-d802434307ec

Sweet.

Thanks, PWAlessi.

I blew past that product page 'cause I saw $29.99 next to the MSRP but didn't notice the "Free for Gold members" text.

It was a good idea (albeit way long overdue) to start offering these free games, it's been pretty solid so far. Defense Grid, Assassins Creed 2, Crackdown, Dead Rising 2. One of the two games next month will be Halo 3.

This is the best bundle I've seen yet:

http://www.walmart.com/ip/PlayStatio......

3G Vita, 1 Year PS+ subscription. 4 GB memory card and a supposedly crappy game (Unit 13).

1. Your link is broken. Maybe this?
2. It's out of stock online, and the same at Gamestop yesterday when I saw the bundle.
3. It's only available online, so you can't search for nearest stores on Walmart or Gamestop. AKA, you can't buy it.

Only game I've owned already has been Crackdown, and I got it again for free because why not. I'm loving this promo.

Dangit, sorry, I fixed the link, and it was in-stock when I linked it. Dang Reddit...

Also, I thought they were just doing it once a month (two games) till the end of the year, but I guess I misunderstood.

Nah, they are giving away a game every two weeks. First half of the month they had Crackdown. Not sure why, but they actually have a twofer right now with the Dead Rising games.

Yep, it's every two weeks, giving away games you can probably get for about five bucks at Gamestop. DEALS!

That you've already played and traded away months ago.

Then, when you decide to pick it up anyway, because what the hell it's free, they won't let you because you changed you're email, and deleted the old ones like 3 months ago, but you still have to wait 30 more days because SECURITY / HACKERS MIGHT GET YOU 8-|

I'm unable to claim any of these Gold freebies via xbox.com because apparently the credit card I had on file has expired... and that's somehow preventing me from "buying" these, even though the price is $0.

There should be a button for "Use Points". I have no CC on file with them at all, and never will again.

Well, that's devious of them. I had to click "Add a Credit Card", then "Cancel", and when I returned back, the "Add a Credit Card" button turned into "Use Points".

For those getting into BF3 and want all the expansions (5 of them, which include a 20 maps, a bunch of guns, etc), Premium is $15 today. That's half off.

Also, ME3 for $6. There are other games for that price, but they're already in the Humble deal.

Well damn. I thought I was going to be "safe" from that ME3 deal, considering that all my previous Mass Effecting has been on the 360 and I didn't want to start a new Shepherd... but it appears that there's a reasonably sane way to copy a save file from 360 to PC. Has anyone had any luck with this approach?

I don't have a credit card on file at all, I thought I was SOL because it asked for one. I found on the Xbox purchase screen that you can press the X button to pay with points. I happen to have some points so it let me download at the free purchase price.

Didn't Brad on Giant Bomb try that or something? I know there was the big ordeal about his USB drive dying that he had his saves on.

EDIT: Never mind, somebody at Giant Bomb did it for Skyrim I think.

It was Brad, and it was Mass Effect 2... but he was never able to successfully recover his game save from the 360 memory stick. He ended up using some game editor to fabricate a game save for the PC. Ah hell, I'll give it a shot.

It was also Skyrim.

This is the thing you want.

I can confirm that the link I posted above does indeed successfully copy a save over from 360 to PC.

I can also confirm that Mass Effect 3 for PC does not have any controller support natively. WTF!?

None of the PC games do. ME 1 actually included the controller-enabled GUI assets, which you could switch to with a pretty simple config file edit, but even then you had to hack the config files together to get mediocre controller support.

I generally prefer keyboard and mouse controllers for shooter style games myself, whether they're FPS or third person in the case of ME. I find the stick aiming so imprecise with controllers...

Yep. Aiming with a controller in first/third person always feels to me like steering an overloaded shopping cart backward and with one hand.

While I agree that M&K is indeed the most accurate of methods, the lack of controller support is what has basically meant I won't play any of the ME games. My current PC set up does not lend itself very well to mouse control, unless it's slower paced RTS/strategy/builders etc, but for shooters, it's pretty much a no go at this time. I did start ME1 after the controller enabling shenanigans, but it was still pretty janky. I am dissapoint. Especially when there's no real reason the 360 GUI couldn't be ported across as an option on PC.

I couldn't believe it either. In freakin' 2013.

GamersGate has Sleeping Dogs (steamworks) for $6.25

Far Cry 3 PC for $16 @ MS Store.

Think you can activate that on Uplay. About as cheap as I've seen FC3.

Also, a bunch of cheap 360 games and accessories.

Witcher games on sale @ GOG.

The Witcher is $2.49, The Witcher 2 is $4.99.

Same prices on Steam for the whole weekend, if you prefer.

I cannot stress enough that you should buy and play the Witcher games if you are even remotely interested in RPGs with excellent story and writing. They are truly at or near the pinnacle of the genre.

I still have Witcher 1 and about 10 other RPGs on my pile, or I'd jump on Witcher 2.

Humble Origin Bundle just added Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3 and OG Populous if you paid over the average. C&C has a Steam key. Populous is Origin-only.
