40% of whites lying about their "black friend"

Obviously I can only speak for myself but if whites were a minority, I'd rather have crackers thrown at me than my people face disparate drug sentencing, redlining, unemployment rates double to triple that of the majority, driving while white, shopping while white, hell - walking down the street while white, school to prison pipeline, applying for employment with a white sounding name, and so on and so forth.

I don't think it's productive to compare America to anyone in regards to race relations.

Canada doesn't have a lot of the aforementioned issues America has with regards to race and could arguably considered more progressive yet someone threw a banana at Philadelphia's Wayne Simmonds in Ontario at a Flyers-Red Wings preseason game. When Joel Ward scored the series-winning goal for the Washington Capitals against the Boston Bruins in the 2012 playoffs, his twitter account was bombarded with racist comments from Boston Bruins fans.

So to clarify, you're saying that America is the worst place in the world for people of color to live?

Give those other countries time, FSeven. There's already very similar situations emerging for primarily Northern African immigrants in countries like France. They are segregated, suffer similarly high unemployment and incarceration rates, and generally are looked at as the source of all things bad for the country.

Really, what i've learned from this is that I am going to start a for-profit business where I match up well-meaning white people looking for a black friend with at least one African-American. After a year, we'll expand into other minority groups. It's gonna be like ChristianMingle.com, except for miscegenation.

That seems like a pretty workable idea to me. I'll bet you could Kickstarter it.

Never said that. C'mon, Seth.

I don't doubt that things will get worse before they get better. One of the complications is that none of those other countries (France, Italy, etc.) were ever "advertised", for lack of a better term, as a diverse melting pot. America pretty much has been for the later part of it's history. So while in Italy you see things like their black integration minister being called an orangutan by rival politicians and having bananas thrown at her, the simple fact that a woman born in the Congo was appointed Minister of Integration (after being publicly elected a member of the Chamber of Deputies) of Italy is progress.

Xenophobia always brings out the worst in people. It's an "in your face" source for anti-intellectuals to direct their anger at for all the things they deem wrong in life. "Took 'ur jobs" instead of considering their lack of effort in school or unwillingness to work their way up from the bottom. Those in the majority group tend to see themselves as entitled to jobs yet they don't criticize the business owner who uses cheap immigrant labor to break a union strike or opt for cheap immigrant labor and pay them under the table rather than be subject to taxes by hiring a citizen. Hell, we see it here with mainstream media (and ignorant mouth-breathers) always willing to vilify a brown-skinned man yet you never hear a peep about the white guys in suits on Wall Street and in bank who destroyed the economy and whom their tax dollars go to bail out. No, it's always a black man looking to steal your $500 dollar tv, not the white businessman who lured you into a predatory loan and is now pushing to foreclose your house after he first raids your pension for every cent you put into it. It's always "them".

Sorry, I know you better than that. I really wasn't baiting. I just read your previous post with more bitterness than was probably intended.

I'm fully aware that I can come off that way. No idea how to change it though.
