Good thoughts for Phoenix Rev appreciated

So, I bought my cane today and the choices were limited. No Hello Kitty or My Little Pony. Arizona can be a very cruel place indeed.

They had some floral ones, but they clashed with my hazel eyes. The ones with the sort of geometric designs made me even more woozy than I already was. The plain black ones were just black and where's the fun in that unless your name was Tyrone and I met you at the Eagle in New York City in 1997.

So, I did see a nice tartan plaid one that caught my eye, and being of Scottish descent (the Highlands, near the coast, non-sheep buggering), I decided to get that one. I even had a coupon! I also knew that Rubb Ed would consent because he is of Scottish descent (the Highlands, sort of near the coast, refuses to talk about the sheep).

Here she is. I call her ... Iona.

(Sorry for the less than great photo, but I was holding the cane in one hand, the camera in the other, am on eleventy different drugs and a bit woozy, but the pattern is the same all the way down to the rubber stopper on the end.)

I would be proud to carry such a cane myself!

Good to hear that medical things are proceeding smoothly. Keep the good news coming!

You dudes are fabulous, good that everything's working out : )

It's not too late to hang a Hello Kitty phone charm onto it!

Glad to hear you are out of the woods, PR!.. Wait, why everything in this thread sounds like double-entendre??

Funds came in, so a little bit of help has been sent.

Well, darn, I can't not donate some money now can I! Donation sent.
Hope everything turns out ok!

Oh my gosh... I don't even know how to thank everyone yet who's donated. I just looked at the account, and there's almost $600. In a day.

Yeah, I cried a bit.

I'm gonna be shooting out PMs to everyone who's donated money so Phoenix Rev and I can send you thank you notes or something. I'm just kind of overwhelmed at the moment at the generosity of the Goodjers.

Not surprised at all, you guys are the best.

Surely we can nudge it up higher than that.

I told you to stop calling me Surely.

That's what she said.

Just did a little nudging myself.

Why doesn't God f*ck with televangelists instead?

Uh oh, Phoenix Rev's illness is inspiring a crisis of faith. I'm sure Phoenix will clear this up himself with great eloquence soon.

That's a kind thought, but don't let it take time away from taking care of each other and related business.

Yeah, this should not be anything that adds any stress or burden.

To be honest, there is no crisis of faith here, at least on my end. In fact, if anything, it is inspiring me to remember that what ever is happening, life sometimes comes crashing down on us like a ton of bricks.

I don't believe that Yahweh is a puppet master that pulls the strings of our lives or intervenes to prevent bad things from happening or cause bad things to happen. No, She is there to provide comfort and suffer along with us when things are bad, laugh in joy with us when things are great, and hold our hands when we are alone.

Whatever turns out being the diagnosis, no matter how horrible, it isn't that horrible. There is something wonderful waiting on the other side of the veil of life for me, and I have faith that my standing invitation of pizza and beer with Y'shua and Mary Magdalene will be honored.

If not, I will be registering a rather vocal complaint.

Mmm, pizza.

In heaven there are no booboos, but you still get all the Hello Kitty bandages you want.

Love your outlook, Rev. It's not one I share, but damn is it ever an appealing one. One more reason I really want to see you pull through - there are a lot of folks I'd like to see hold a similar perspective. You stay a badass, now.

This is incorrect.

Y'shua gave out free, universal health care at a mere touch. No bandages needed.

However, he was fantastic with balloon animals and lollipops. (You can read about it in Paul's Epistle to the Mylars.)

Another quick update:

1. I now have all my records transferred over to Barrows so we are all set for August 16th.

2. I have been cleared to return to work tomorrow. I will be taking it very slowly and not pushing myself and not doing anything strenuous. I did promise my supervisor, our CEO, our HR Director, and, of course, The Boss (Rubb Ed) that if I started getting tired or sick, I would come home.

3. And, I received some fantastic news this evening: Rubb Ed will be here on Friday afternoon. I am sure that we will have a fantastic time together once we stop clinging to each other and stop crying.

Thank you all so much for your love and support.

There are still plenty of hurdles, but having Rubb Ed here, even for a quick weekend, will help tremendously.

It's awfully dusty in here.

I am so glad to hear that.

Figuring out what's wrong with *any* of our brains could be an added challenge, Plav... Good luck PR!

Friday afternoon's been moved up to either this afternoon or this evening. It all kind of depends on how fast I can get out of here with the few things I need to do in preparation to get out to Arizona, then on how bad traffic is between here and there.

Glad you're going to get some time together, best wishes on good news and a speedy recovery!

Sent good luck again gents!

Yay! Happy to hear you guys will be together this weekend. Everything else will fall into place. <3
