Good thoughts for Phoenix Rev appreciated

Hugs, thoughts, prayers, good vibes coming your way from Greece...

Positive thoughts out to you both. You're in my thoughts.

Glad he's at least out of the hospital and can try to get some rest. Here's hoping the abnormalities can be handled easily.

I still like the way "Hubby Rubb" sounded!

Thanks for the tale PR, hope you can get get some answers soon! Thoughts are with you both.

((((hugs))))

Just to follow up with some items:

1. The $35K to $40K is the bill before the insurance network discount. But the bill will be present that way and then the second page will include the discount after you have heart failure from seeing the retail pricing.

2. The reason for the high cost for six hours in the ER is because this is Barrows Neurological Institute. It is considered the finest neurological center in the nation. You might remember that this is where Bret Michaels had his surgery and full recovery after his brain hemorrhage a few years back. It is not cheap, but I knew I was getting the best care in the entire world, and it showed.

3. I haven't had a chance to say so, but thank you all very much for the PMs and the kind wishes. To be honest, I feel horrible, and the medications are really doing a number on my stomach, but the worst part is not having a diagnosis and not having one for at least another two weeks.

4. I received a call this morning from Barrows and another prescription has been authorized (it had to receive special permission due to the formulary), so my scripts will total about $160 in co-pays which isn't bad and I am thankful for my flexible spending account. Sadly, buying my own Hello Kitty hospital gown will not be reimbursed under my FSA. America sucks.

5. I will also need to get a cane. The doctor recommended this to help with the equilibrium problem that develops when the stabbing pains start, just to make sure I don't tumble to the ground and bruise something... like the floor tile. Hopefully, my local CVS will have some snazzy choices. I would buy a "Walking Dead" cane with photos of Lee, Clem and Kenny in a heartbeat.

Good luck, and good vibes headed your way!! Thank you for the updates, glad to be part of a large community that loves you and can lend our support to you however you need.

I wish you smart doctors and positive outcomes! (And lenient insurance companies!)

So after Dr. Feelgood's done with you, RubbEd will ride the wind down, and you'll be right back to having something to believe in. Never let it be said that no rose is without a thorn, but soon you'll be having nothing but a good time.

I imagine they've already sorted this for you, but if not, definitely ask your doctor about anti-nausea medication. The real stuff like they give you in the hospital. My wife has a similar reaction to opiates and they've sorted her out in the past. For canes, you can get pretty creative if you're willing to shop around.

Late to finding out, but I am glad you're home and I hope everything is on the mend. I'll definitely keep my eyes on this thread and Rubb Ed's G+ page for updates on how I can help.

My thoughts and hopes are with you!

What kind of cane would suit Phoenix Rev?

Only if it comes with a functional wand... and I'm not talking about Rubb here!

You came to the right place for cane advice.

I recommend you start with this: http://www.amazon.com/Ez2care-Adjust...

I don't know if that link is precisely it (bought mine at the pharmacy, but cost is mostly the same). I have "real" canes but I needed one that has that type of head for a costume, and over time it's become my go-to cane on a daily basis. The metal is sturdy, the folding part still works even after hours of my heavy hand on it, and it's not even really scratched or dented after almost three years now, including four PAX's.

It also comes in some serious colors, if you know what I mean. I'd see what your pharmacy has to hand and try it out.

Hey guys. So some people and I are working for something a little more ornate but in the meantime, there are bills to pay and plane tickets to buy and time needs taken off work, etc.

So If you guys wouldn't mind kicking in a little $, please paypal redbearca (at) gmail dawt com.

That's RubbEd's personal paypal account.

Please help give these two one less thing to worry about. Thanks, folks.

You guys just gave me a wicked doner with all your giving.

Thanks, all. I really don't even know what to say about this other than "thank you".

Just remember to lie to the judge about your Paypal account when you have to fund a lawyer!

Just found this thread today (it was harrowing at first and I wanted to skip ahead to the happy go-home part) and wanted to throw in all my love and support and positive thoughts! (((((hugs)))))

Aw man... tough to hear for sure. Sending some good vibes your way.

Late but good luck and good health

Funds sent!

So, another update and a word or two or nine of humble gratitude.

No problems at work for now. Bases are covered and my work release is for Thursday if I am feeling up for it. My supervisor said she will reduce my workload and the CEO called me and said that he has authorized some extra paid time off for lunch and breaks for me. So, that is good.

I spoke with Barrows and I now have my appointment (thank you, YHWH, for allowing this to finally get done!). August 16th. This will allow me to:

1. Get my PCP records over to them.
2. Have my second MRI on August 9th and have the films and report sent over to Barrows in plenty of time.
3. Have the medical records from my current neurologist sent over to Barrows.
4. Have another full blood panel (I will bring my own Hello Kitty bandages, thankyouverymuch).

I will be meeting with a team of doctors: a neurologist, a neurosurgeon, a neurological medical research physician, and an internist. The intake specials had pulled my ER visit records from yesterday and showed them to the intake neurologist who's comments were, "Well, this is quite the mystery." So, it truly is a waiting game, but I am now under the care of the finest neurological institute in the nation and this is very comforting.

Now, for the gratitude.

I saw the post above by oilypenguin and I am truly humbled. It has been difficult for Rubb Ed and me to be apart at this time, but we knew that there would be times like this when we started our long-distance relationship 12 years ago and our long-distance marriage five years ago. We both do not live in any world of regrets because of our decision. Our love and adoration for each other transcends any distance. It still is painful and it leaves us longing and wishing that things could be different.

In the meantime, you all have our deepest, sincerest, and most gracious gratitude for the love and support - both verbal, written, and, now, financial - you have provided us.

We are both truly amazed at this wonderful community.

repay us by posting pictures of the new cane.

The people want to know.
