Wow, this all sounds pretty cool! I was worries that these new challenges would kill my desire to complete games, but it really seems they had the completionist gamer in mind when designing this stuff.

You are just mad I burned you so bad on TA:)

I think the ability for Devs to change achievements on the fly could be abused or devalue some achievements.
"If an achievement is too easy" devalues those that had already won the achievement with the harder criteria.

I think paying more attention to achievements is good, but messing with the system makes me nervous.

You know your pile is too large when:

A) You go to purchase a 'great deal' and the option appears as 'download again'
B) You find games 'hidden' around the house you don't remember purchasing
C) Your 250GB Hard Drive is running out of space, and you only have XBLA titles on it
D) Bean Diving 27 games only results in a completion percentage drop of 1.16%

Answer:

Spoiler:

All of the above

Leaderboard will remain at completion % this week in honour of the Bean Divers.

Figured I'd spark a little chat in here.

I'm conflicted as to which carriage to shackle my next gen train too.

I know most of you guys are going the XBone route, but rather than turn this into a PS4/XBone war, I wanted to know how you were going to move your current gear around to accommodate the purchase?

One of the main resistances I'm finding now, for myself, is if I did go the MSFT route, I'm going to have to either abandon my 360 pile, or find a way of balancing two Kinects off the top of my TV and a duplication of controllers and peripherals. Backwards compatibility would have been such a benefit, but without it, I'm finding one more inconvenience cropping up in what should have been a no brainer in terms of upgrading.

I want an XBone, but the more I look at it, the more problems I keep coming across. Help me Goodjer-One, you're my only hope.

At present, I'm probably leaning towards a PS4, with a TV connected Steam Box. I figured that way I'll get the blu-ray player I've always wanted, XBone exclusives 'might' dribble down to the PC market (Dark Souls, Bulletstorm, etc), and I can still get cheevs through GFWL/X360/WP8.

I'm headed the same way (PS4). But I've been playing a lot of steam games lately as well.

I'll be sad to see you go! But thanks for keeping up with the thread regardless:)

There's always this!

I have no Kinect and recently retired my PS2 so I figure I will just stick the Xbox One where the PS2 used to be and shove the Kinect behind it on the shelf and see if it will work when it can't see anything

I've seen a lot of people lately mentioning getting a PS4 and a TV-connected PC as a way of not getting an Xbox One. What's the appeal there? It costs more, and it takes more work to maintain and troubleshoot. What's the appeal? Or what's so off-putting about the Xbox One that you'd want to drop the money for a gaming PC under your TV to avoid getting one?

And monkey, why not focus on your 360 games that use a Kinect so that when you get the One you can unhook the Kinect from the 360 to make room but leave the console in place?

In my case, I was considering a TV connected PC as it would cost me about the same as a next gen console (there are a lot of guides out there for a $500 'steam box').

The main appeal of that is the quality of titles I can pick up, relative to the price, when you factor in Steam sales, etc. I'd also get to dig into my existing Steam Pile as well.

I had planned to 'sit out' the next gen for another 12 months or so, just until the dust settled, but I have a sneaking suspicion that an old friend of mine is going to hold true to 'his threat' of buying me the 'next gen console of my choice' when I turn 40 in less than a week.

I bet you the Steam Sale game of your choice that none of those $500 Steambox guides produce a PC with equivalent specs to a next gen console that will still be playing games super well in a few years. Just something to keep in mind. The PC spec race doesn't seem to be as bad as it's been, but that doesn't mean it's not still a treadmill.

For sure. I would 'settle' for a mid level machine. I'm currently running an i3 dual core iMac with Windows 7, and it's handling my current Steam library very well. If I buy well in another 6 months, I should be doing fine as well. I was going to post in the 'make your own PC' thread to see just how modular a build can be? Given the talk of matching processors to mother boards, and maintaining correct power levels, I'm thinking that 'switching out bits as they get outdated' could be a bit of a false perception on my part.

I know it will never be able to compete with the dedicated architecture of a next gen console, but given budget constraints for the next year or two, and the fact that Australian resellers are already floating prices of $119 locally for games, it would be a cheap, yet viable alternative. I'm also enjoying the crap out of my 3DS (thanks again for that enabling) so there is that as well.

I'd just like to draw attention to the fact that team Certis is Awesome has surpassed their plans of making it into the top 50 of the GTASC this year.

Nice effort everyone!

Good work, team Certis is Awesome!

Thanks! Yah, we are really cruising strong right now and are having a great time and not being too taxed. I bet we will crack the top 40 with ease, and maybe even top 30!

Congrats guys!

Congrats CiA!

I honestly forgot the GTASC was still running. lol
