Monaco Catch-All / Don't-Get-Caught-All

I tried to get the slippery achievement earlier today but kept getting exactly 1:10 and could never get under. It should be pretty easy to get with another player as either the lookout for quicker exits or the pickpocket to pick up the coins in the last part (which is the biggest variable of the run).

spoilered the part that made it easy for me to get under the mark solo.

Spoiler:

Don't bother disarming the laser alarms, just run right through them.

Anyone interested in attempting a few pickpocket missions tomorrow (Sunday) or early in the week? I think I've reached a point where I can't proceed any further solo

I might be able to. Not sure what time I'll get back into town tomorrow, but early in the week I'll try to be available.

I'll be available in the evening, count me in!

Had a great time with mr_n00b tonight. The old Gentleman/Cleaner duo is still completely amazing at everything from Pearls Before Swine onward. It was actually my best run of PBS -- not just because of the amount of practice I've had, but also because mr_n00b put some guards to sleep in very clutch situations (Art Nouveau!). He also did a bang-up job at the power switch in Royal Flush.

It's only a little disturbing how much he and Boogle like cracking heads.

One reason I'm looking forward to the steam sale is so that this game will get some fresh blood. I have not completed all that much of the missions still, and I'm hoping regular games will start back up with an influx of players. Also, Steam cards.

I'm giving everybody brain damage.

I'm actually about to fire it up around 9:30 EST if anyone is interested in the last few missions on the pickpocket storyline.

Wish I could- hopefully soon.

Please feel free to invite me any time you're looking for a co-op partner. Always willing, if time allows!

I am very much hoping that this gets a good price reduction during the steam sale. Are a lot of people still playing? I understand co-op is really the only way to play.

Co-op is very enjoyable, although I really like the slow, methodical, super-tense action you can get with single-player too.

I'm just antsy for the damn level editor to come out!

Thanks boogle and !pants for joining me for a bit last night. I might be up for more tonight if anyone's interested.

Same here, I'm almost done with the game but I really want to pay it forward by helping others complete it too. I really doubt I would've been able to get the "cleared out" status on most of the missions if it hadn't been for everyone else

I'll probably be looking for some co-op Fri and/or Saturday evening.

Is anyone playing the Xbox version? Would love to be able to play this without the threat of my laptop becoming a space heater.

I'll be around Friday night so definitely send me a message when you're ready.

I really hope some cool things come from this.

Monoco is now a StreamPlay game. Wishlisted and seeing what the sale brings.

I don't recommend going directly from playing Rogue Legacy to Monaco. Wayyyyy different paces!

Don't have time tonight but am really looking forward to trying out the editor and the workshop levels. Anyone else have first impressions yet?

Darn. Been playing Legacy all afternoon. Just got Monaco downloaded.

Guess I should mix in a palette cleanser of something.

If anyone is up for trying to do a clean-out on Au Revoire or One Last Job (I forget which I need to clear still) this weekend I'd really appreciate some help. Cyranix and I tried to do it with Gentleman+Cleaner, but we determined we need a Hacker in the mix as well. I'm available after 9 PM all weekend. Maybe we could try some of the community missions afterward?

And to the newcomers from the Steam sale, definitely post in here if you want to get some co-op going. I'm up for playing this game co-op anytime if I'm available.

EDIT: Just noticed the game updated. Why?

So... we added the rocket launcher into the main campaign (hidden throughout pickpockets story). About to set the new build live!

This is going to be glorious.

I've been deep into some personal coding, but I really would love to do more co-op and some map making. Ping me on the weekend when I'm on Steam.

I'm going to play some solo first so I get a feel for the game. But I'd definitely be interested in getting some co-op together once I get my feet wet.

May I have an invite to the GWJ Monaco Steam group? Thanks in advance!

Just bought it. I'm pretty pumped.

Invite sent. Feel free to hit me up; I should have some availability this weekend.

I took two custom maps for a test drive today, from the "featured" section. Departure seemed rather fiddly -- very dense, lots of patrols and electronics -- so I didn't end up going very far in at all. I think I'd only want to try that one co-op with some goodjers. Versailles, on the other hand, was perhaps a little too far on the easy side but still quite enjoyable. I cleared it out solo as the Gentleman on the first try and finished with a full complement of smoke bombs. It has a few neat tricks, so I'd say it's worth playing. It's also a Cleaner's paradise (plenty of sparse patrols and disguises) so all you head-crackin' fiends can get your fix.

Brain damage weekend!

I played the first 3 or 4 missions. I'm a bad thief. I can do stealth for about 2/3 of a mission, then, all hell breaks loose.

That's normal, one of the character unlocks makes stealthing a lot easier.

And some people just like cracking heads and don't bother with stealth much. That's part of what makes co-op so fun.

I definitely fall into the stealth camp. Early characters to practice stealth on are the Lookout and the Pickpocket -- the former will reward you with positional intel for sneaking, the latter will snag coins easier, and both are reliant on patient play because they don't have very "active" abilities. Later on, the Gentleman will allow you to "hide in plain sight" which relaxes some constraints on stealthiness, but his ability is wasted if you run a lot so it's still patient play.
