Prince of Persia 2 - Is it on anyone's must have list?

I haven't heard much buzz on PoP2 in the last few weeks (it's due to ship on 11/30). Is anyone looking forward to this one?

I've been thinking about putting it on preorder since the more sinister looking Prince this time out kind of appeals to me, but I'm on game overload as it is.

Must have, no. But I''m probably gonna at least give it a rent. The emphasis has been put on fighting and I''m affraid they kinda forgot about the great puzzles the first one was about in the process.

A guy I know who works on the project says that it''s not the case, but from all the previews I have seen and the demo I have played, I''m still worried. I''m not big on the edgy new prince too. There''s this boss girl you fight in the demo and he calls her a Female Doggo at some point. That sounded very out of place. I also prefered how the first game looked, it was unique.

I just got the last one (yea Slambie!)....so I''m not sure I need this one right away. I''d like to support Ubi on this by buying it at full price, but the coffers are thin and the backlog is long.

It''s on my must-have list.

While there is certainly a new approach to fighting, I honestly think the heavy emphasis on the fighting system in previews and trailers and demo has been to try and drum up sales from gamers that ignored the first one. I really don''t think they are abandoning the rest of what made PoP great. I think it will be there in the final game, but they''re showing off the ""action"" side to reel in the sales from other gamers.

Not for me.

I just recently finished PoP:SoT, which had more than enough fighting in it for me.

Having attempted and failed to complete the demo version of PoP2 more than just a few times -- And just why is it PoP2? I distinctly recall playing something called Prince of Persia 3D a couple of years ago, and that was the second or third installment, if I recall correctly! -- I cannot see much attraction for me. Maybe once it''s out and reviews make it clear that there''s enough other stuff to make it worthwhile. (And I''ll believe that when I read it.)

Why do the game designers insist on more and more fighting; it is just due to a lack of any imagination?

Waiting for it eagely. Pre-ordered it from EB, so that I can have this special artbook freebee.

I''ll rent it.

I''d be more interested in the Spring when things slowed down a bit. As it is, I think I''ll pass for now and maybe give it a rent next month unless you guys start frothing at the mouth.

What game don''t we froth at the mouth over?

I''ll be getting it eventually, but not a pre-order. I really loved the first one. I actually beat it the same day ""the box"" was opened in Sway''s attic...evil destroyed on 2 fronts that day.

I think I''ll wait for it to come out first and see what it''s actually like, then decide. I liked the first one just because of the puzzles, frustrating as they were sometimes. The combaat was fun, but it seemed like I had to work through a fight to get to next interesting part.

I''ll probably get the first one in the beginning of next year... second one will probably be end of 2005-start of 2006 when its $15.

I will get it early next year....sad Ubisoft puts out great games and nobody buys.

I''m a huge fan of Sands of Time. Picked up the demo for this on the XBox and my excitement for it rather dwindled. I''m not too keen on the Prince being edgy and dark. Sure, he was rather whiny and annoying at times in the first game, but making him angry and grim wouldn''t have improved the game. So is a game grown up when its angry and swears?

I think the ""first"" PoP did rather well no?

Beyond Good and Evil sold poorly and that''s just very, very sad. Leisure Suit Larry: Insult To Gaming will probably sell 10 times more and after that we''re gonna blame devs and publishers for the lack of innovation and creativity in games.

WE are to blame!

My wife and I rented the first one for two 5-days. Probably do the same with this one, but that said, I''m really looking forward to it. My wife loves the puzzleness of it, and I like to hit things with swords. So it works out.
