DDO Orien server catch all - Static Group nights Tuesday and Thursday 8PM EST

Sad I missed it

32 character slots per server? I thought I was bad with 11.

Sorry for the double post. My phone is acting wonky.

Please delete if somebody with authority sees this.

Hello all,

I have been looking for a new MMO to play the last week or so. I have heard about DDO for a long time, but never really thought to give it a chance since I was stuck to wow for the longest time. I haven't played wow in about 6 months and I don't have the itch to go back. I do however want to find a group oriented MMO to try and dig deep into.

I have a few questions as I would really like to join an established group for this game:

Are the groups still active?
What would I need to do to be able to get involved, and how long might that process take?

As far as learning the game, I am confident I can do that with my own substantial research and a little help from the community. I know it's different from other MMOs in certain ways, but it just takes a little time and commitment.

We are small but active. The guild play nights are Tuesday and Thursday and that group is around level 15 at the moment. Some of us play other days of the week and on weekends. I would have not problems helping you get caught up to the main group.

Getting to 15 on a new character could talk a while depending on how often you play. It is possible to speed through content I and can help you with that if you like, but that is not always the best way to experience DDO.

Ok, thanks. I think I will give it a try regardless since it is f2p.

That brings up another question; is there anything in your opinion that requires real money to be spent? I have no problem dropping money on something I enjoy, so I probably wouldn't spend any money to start out, but would have no problem spending some later down the road if needed.

Most money spending in DDO comes from adventure packs, groups of quests that are all part of one story. There are enough quests that are free to play to get you from level 1 to 20(25 is the current level cap) but you will miss out on some good story arcs and loot.

When playing with our group I have no problem handing out a 90 min guest passes to whatever quests we happen to be doing that night. You are also rewarded turbine points as you play so you can save them up and slowly unlock adventure packs with out using any real money. If you are patient and wait for sales you can make out pretty good.

Here is a list of all the adventure packs and f2p quests:

Everything you can buy in DDO is bought with Turbine points. You can earn Turbine points in game through favor (awarded by completing quests). So if you play the same free to play quests with more characters, you earn more favor, and thus more Turbine points. When you spend money, what you actually buy is just more Turbine points (you get a LOT if you use money). It's balanced quite nicely, especially as if you buy a quest with Turbine points, all your characters on all the servers can run the quest, not just the one character you were playing when you bought it. So then you can earn more favor, as you have more quests you can do. It's very player friendly.

Those are pretty great. I especially like the one of us heading off from the shrine.

Yes, very nice shots. Some really good action captures in there.

Looks like I've got a bunch of stuff on my plate tonight and won't be able to make it. See you folks on Thursday.

Hi guys,
Does anyone have a Tome of Legend page 1 that they'd be willing to trade? I can give you pages 2 and 5 in return. (I'm pretty sure it's 2 and 5 but I have to check.)

I don't have one, but I believe Dhantira has one to trade. Check tonight.

No trouble. We did a Challenge, and ran the little outside zones around the Reavers Reach dungeons. Nice little bite sized jaunts.

See you Thursday.

Record rainfall and flooding in Toronto yesterday. Power still out this morning (I'm posting from work, where, of course, everything is fine). Things should be fixed by noon, but if I'm not on tonight, it's because I'm sitting in the dark. We're on a hill, so no flooding damage for me.
