Haha, Cheers for that. I was wondering why the last guy called me a coffee grinder... and then I realised that it was under my profile name!

Anyways this year I hope to score a nice bargain on the entire Skyrim Collection, that would be just awesome!

Being a grinder is annoying... you can't quote people properly, you can't get free games ;P... But keep posting and you'll most likely find some awesome people here. I am relatively new myself, but this is the best community of gamers on the internet.

Haha, I'm sorry bout that. I really do want to be a part of this community. However in order to do so requires posts, and I do not want to spam pointless posts to do so.
But how does one aquire free games?!?!?!?

Cheers

First off is not being here for just "free games". The thread is about people gifting others and the happiness that comes with knowing someone will have a little green alert button when they check Steam. As for being a grinder, I wouldn't count on much activity this sale around for you. On a brighter note, every 6 months there is another sale. That gives you a lot of time to become part of the community. I would say that grinders are generally welcome here (unless you are a spam-bot, then you suck). This community is amazing and there's more than enough threads that you should have no problem fitting in if you are really that interested. No need to keep posting in this thread only. Go check the place out, grab a chair (small chair though as space is always an issue), and enjoy!

That Steam group wishlist search is awesome Mantid. I approve. I'm hoping for a metro last light deep discount, but I'm not gonna hold my breath.

There's also this: http://store.steampowered.com/recomm... (Most wanted)

You know, this *might* be the first Steam sale where I'm not actually looking forward to anything specific. I've added some stuff to the wishlist, but overall I think I've already purchased everything that I wanted.

Looking forward to gifting a lot more this sale

I know of at least one that managed to duck such wonderfulness.

I'm in the same boat. I still have a lot of games from the last sale that I haven't gotten to yet, so I'm hoping to give a lot more than I receive. I'm also hoping that a new Sparkle Ponies type joke game appears. Sparkle Ponies Madness was more fun than a lot of the games I've bought on Steam.

Apparently the steam trading cards are coming out of beta on Wednesday. Maybe sale this Thursday with theme of pushing the cards?

Target acquired

I actually suspect they'll hold off until July 11 so they can skip over the July 4 holiday in the US. No point in wasting sale potential because people are out at the beach having fun.

Yeah, this time around I think I'm more a gifter than a giftee. And given my air conditioning system has been given a few months to live, I may not be much of a gifter this time around. Well, unless the prices drop or something...

Besides, Path of Exile is free. Whee!

B-b-but I leave for Florida on the 18th, that means I wouldn't have enough time to play any of teh gamez... Oh, wait, that isn't what we do with them anyway...

I do not own Sparkle Ponies or Bad Rats. I'm going to sit in the corner by myself.

Yeah I'm thinking that's why they waited last year. Also having more employees that have to work on the 4th to deal with sales is probably not something they enjoy doing.

Where in Florida? If you're close, I am always up for buying a fellow goodjer a beer.

Okay, I've got another stupid question about gifting.

Say I want to gift a game I already own that is near and dear to my heart. Thing is, when a game is on my Wishlist, I get an email alert when it goes on sale. But when I already own the game there's no way of being alerted of a price reduction outside of F5'ing the Steam product page every 5 minutes during the Big Sale.

Any workarounds for this?

I'll sit by myself with you.

Set up a dummy account?

Eh, deepest darkest Disneyland I'm afraid. Not really my bag, but anywhere that isn't work will do fine for me!

As for the wish list thing, isthereanydeal.com allows you to set up a wish list (and import the entries from your steam account, if you fancy) and will also mail you about deals, not just on steam, but anywhere. You can also set a target price for each game if you want to. I check it multiple times a day, as is my addiction.

This should do you up right: http://steamalerts.com/

It isn't the same thing? Shows how much attention I pay

One is in Florida, the other is in California.

To get in the mood everyone should go buy Defenders Quest and gift a copy to a friend. It's sweet.

Those are some great leads for deal sites.

Man, the internet is a lot bigger than I first thought.

There's also steamgamesales.com, but I prefer isthereanydeal.

I feel the same. I've got Sky rim on my must have list, but many others are nice to haves rather than must haves.

This is how I feel:

Picked up Defender's Quest. I'm not usually into tower defense much but I'm greatly enjoying this!

Small tip, the first two characters you get don't have the correct number of skill points because they start at the wrong level. You can correct this by re-speccing them.

Ah ha! That loads much faster than the other wishlist site. Looks like everybody on my friends list is getting Antichamber from me as soon as it goes on discount because that game was just great.

That's that surreal FPPuzzler, right?
