I was wondering if anyone has been playing this new MMO at all? I had enjoyed the Closed Beta. But now that its a Open Beta. Been looking for some folks to play with. The combat is entertaining cause its combo based. So you're always doing something. The dragon training has that Pokemon feel. You capture wild dragons, train up their abilities and stats. They fight with you in combat. And are also your mounts.

I just want a group to be able to party up, and knock out a bunch of quests. And just have a all around good time.

I am on the East Coast, but my times are VERY flexible.

Looks neat, but probably outside of what my laptop can handle.

Also, there's an MMO specific part of the forum. This'll get moved there.

Whoops, my bad. Was to busy looking for a catch-all for the game. Had forgotten about the MMO forums.

Since it's F2P I'm going to wait a bit before diving in and let yall beta test the thing to death. The idea of your dragon being central is an I threshing twist to an MMO and I'm interested in the housing. Could be fun.

Seems interesting so far. I downloaded/installed it overnight.

The graphics are a little glitchy, and the game has crashed on me twice so far (in a few hours playtime). Very action oriented, and the UI takes a little getting used to. I've only played a ranger so far, but planning to try out the two casters as well.

I downloaded it fully expecting to hate it, and was surprised when I realized I spent almost all my game time yesterday playing it.

Turns out I'm enjoying it much more than I ever expected to. Heck my Oracle, Quinora (Kronos server), is now level 18 and has several dragon's working for her.

Some good points:
* It has multiple starting areas.
* An 'action combat' system, similar the one found in TERA (and a lesser extent Neverwinter)
* a Double Jump mechanic and abilities that combo into different attacks if cast while jumping.
* It game a mount/pet after only an hour of play.
* Gear that changes my look (you would think this would be a given, but after Neverwinter I don't take it for granted anymore)
* I can learn all the crafting professions
* there is apparently some form of housing (I have not seen this yet)
* Oh the dragons have different skills which led to to spend time simply catch and releasing dragons looking for certain skill combos.
* Its Free to start playing, and micro transactions use Station Cash, which I have a nice pile of from other SOE games.

Some down sides:
* Being Free to start, does not mean things don't have a cost. So there are Station Cash buttons on many things which can annoy some people. Heck I have already bought a bit more inventory and bank space.
* The graphics / animations are just ok. I put this as a 'bad' because many people need to be blown away by the look of the game. I find the style to be fine, but there have been a few glitches.
* There is very little voice work in game, and what I have heard is not great.
* Very little is explained up front (heck somethings feel hidden on purpose) and the fan sites are just now getting really getting started.

I agree with these. Early mounts is a good change compared to the grinds I've seen in other games. Especially since the speed increase from even the starter ones is drastic.

The crafting is a bit confusing at first, but having mats spawn even in the lowbie part of the starting area actually makes learning it a bit less stressful. At least if I waste mats, the early ones aren't hard to come by.

Completely agree with these. I'm not saying animations and graphics make the game, but there is a level of polish I think most of us expect in a game released in the last few years. And this extends to the voice work. Most games I've seen that use voice narration and cut scenes tend to put in an animation that moves the mouth of the person speaking, even if it isn't perfectly in sync. Not having that in this game was immediately noticeable.

I threshing

Autocorrect!!!!!!!! =P

It sounds interesting. Runes of Magic held a lot of promise. So it will be interesting to see how they handle their class system in Dragon Prophet.

The action combat looks competent. I am not so sure anymore that action combat is the holy grail it is sometimes made out to be. (especially since I am enjoying RIFT so much now... though my favorite class is one that runs around with a flamethrower)

Wow! No XP support =(

Yup, it's time to move on. XP is older than some people on this forum.

Maybe.

I am also on Kronos, Trayvox is my Sorcerer, only lvl 10. And then theres Turox, lvl 8 Ranger.

That just made me install the game.

edit: Hold on, xp as experience, or xp as the OS? Either way I'll still install it.

There are still millions of XP users out there. Why limit the potential audience of a f2p game?

Because the effort of supporting it outweighs the benefits?

Daybreak announces the end of Dragon's Prophet NA. 8(

Daybreak actually put a team of people on making the NA offering something worth while. Repair the neglected player relations and clean up the disarray SOE left the game in. We thought they might give it until next year and attempt some sort of relaunch like thing, but it was just too far gone to save. Honestly they were giving it some very impressive effort.

The servers are up until November if you want to say goodbye to your dragons etc. Most everything is just 1 DBC ( the new station cash ) for the it game is dead party! So if you want to mess around with anything on the marketplace it's there to play with.
