Dragon's Crown (PS3/Vita)

From the makers of Odin Sphere and Murasama, their first HD 2D game, and also the largest boobs ever shown at E3.

Jesus Christ, just look at that poor witch! Four player online co-op, so at least she'll have a few people to help her carry them around.

That Amazon freaks me the f*ck out.

As a game, I'm not really into it. I'm all for Japanese oddity normally, but Muramasa was too weird for me. Odin Sphere was better, but kind of broken. Love the artstyle, but I always find their games lacking.

Not so loud, Blind! She can hear you!

Yeah, I have to agree. However, just as with Murasama I'll probably be willing to overlook mediocre gameplay in this game if it is once again akin to playing though a living painting.

FTFY.

The f**k.

Loved Odin Sphere (at least until the lag killed it for me) heck, even GrimGrimoire was excellent. I hope it takes more from that pedigree than it does from Muramasa, unfortunately, it's looking more like a 4 player Muramasa more than anything.

Il'l definitely give it a go, still love the hand-drawn style, despite the ridiculous porportions.

I have an unopened copy of Odin Sphere that I've debated opening for a long time.

Muramasa was one of the few Wii games I even played. While I did enjoy Muramasa it is pretty shallow.

I really don't know what to think of this game though. I would definitely like this game more if they toned down the extreme character design. I think as long as there is decent online co-op this game could be as much fun as Castle Crashers.

Well, we're getting close to the release date for this one. Has anyone encountered any early press on it?

I haven't heard a thing about it since last E3.

I haven't heard anything either. But looking forward to it!

Close? I thought Atlus said 2013.

Yeah, TBA 2013 was the last release date anyone mentioned, back when Atlus took over the production.

Damn Amazon. They list a June 30th, 2013 ship date, but of course all my eyes saw was June 30, since why the hell would they have an exact date for anything but this year?

Posting because of the gameplay and graphics shown, as it is incredible; this game is beautiful.

I have a Vita now, and it's great that it's graphically powerful, but I'm just like, gee, I wish I was seeing this on a bigger screen with higher resolution.
Amazon now says August 6.

At this point, this has more of my interest than any other game this year. I'm really hoping that the game has legs, in content and community.

The gameplay does look fun, but the art style is so unbelievably off-putting that I just don't think I can stomach it.

Sort of like God of War; sure, I like action/platforming beat-em-up gameplay, but the absolutely despicable 'protagonist' and unrelenting nastiness of the game's attitude just made me lose interest.

What? Have you not seen it in motion? It's even more gorgeous than Odin Sphere and Muramasa combined!

Boobs.

My sarcasm bucket is overflowing, so just take one of these and call me in the morning.
A) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wlMwc...

B) Really, Boobs? I think I've heard of them before. I did not realize they were so dangerous. Thank you for the cautionary word, I can't imagine what my life would be like without your warning.

C) You should move to Iran where you won't have these kinds of problems.

D) ..hang on, I'll think of another one.

Okay, my sarcasm bucket has calmed down. Let me refer you to this video, http://www.escapistmagazine.com/vide...
If you didn't watch, I don't have a problem with it, cause 1) I like boobs, and 2) everyone's idealized, no one's objectified.

Pre-order now and get a 64-page artbook.

I can understand how someone who is normally not off-put by boobs could be turned off of Dragon's Crown due to boobs.

There are a lot of pictures of the Sorceress smooshing a skull against her boobs as if to invite a size comparison, which she would win twice over.

Maybe it's something about the highly detailed art style but it seems less sexual and more grotesque deformity.

IGN had a live stream just now and I won a Vita copy! Can't wait!

What! You lucky... I've never won any give-aways. Congrats!

The reviews are extremely positive. Kotaku, Joystiq, and Destructoid all love the game. The multiplayer seems to be where the real meat of the game is, almost all reviewers said that solo it'll get repetitive and the AI companions are pretty dumb. I can't wait for my copy + art book to arrive next week. this will probably get me to put down Shin Megami Tensei 4 for a while.

I'll probably grab it on the cheap at some point next year. I've got too much to play right now.

For any non-mobile game I'd do the same, but I eat these games up like candy since I have a 1.5h daily commute. Even when I do have a backlog of mobile games, it doesn't last long.

Oh yeah, I'm the same. I used to have a 1.5 to 2 hour commute, and I got tons of gaming done on the Vita. I wish I could somehow have that back without actually having to commute.

Yeah, it's the grotesque hypersexualization that's off-putting to me, not the fact that there's any sexualization at all.

Hmm

Not ecstatic about spending dozens of hours just to get to the real meat of the game, or its challenging longevity.

Yeah, I'm actively looking for games for my Vita, but I'll be giving this a pass. The hypersexualisation is just... bizarre, and franky a little bit disturbing. I might be willing to look past it if there was some obvious reason for it, some form of satire or commentary (for example, I'm playing Catherine at the moment, which is great), but I see no evidence of that in this game.

I find myself needing to filter out the inappropriate sexualisation in games these days, just let my mind's eye blur it out while I enjoy the rest of a game for what it is, since it's just so prevalent, I'd be missing out on a lot of games otherwise. This game doesn't let me filter it out, because it's rubbing my face in it. No thanks.

Now that I've read some reviews, the combat is earning raves. I'm a lot more likely to buy it soon, now. However, there doesn't seem to be cross-platform online play so we should make note here who is buying what. I prefer consoles to handhelds and the pool of players on PS3 will no doubt be larger, so that's where I'll be going.
