Marvel Heroes - Catch All

Oh haven't tried Cable yet. I was determined not to play beta again but having a new character might be worth a couple hours.

I have too many other games waiting for me to play this as a beta, but when it launches I am on board for sure.

I'll be switching between Cable and Deadpool for my first play through.

Cable is easy mode....between his Phsycic Haze being a DoT and then finishing them off with your Searing shot, never had an easier time with starting bosses/world bosses.

For me Deadpool is easy mode. With his heal factor, I never get anywhere close to dying in any portion of the game deceptive for team required bosses like Rhino.

In-game launch pricing announced.

Still doesn't exactly tell you which heroes you can buy, if they are going to stay the same prices as they have been in beta or whatever.

Also there was apparently a huge patch Fri, and if you werne't playing the Steam version, you need to reinstall the whole game.

Since I lost my hard drive last week that had this game on it anyway, I guess I will just try the Steam version. Never liked bitraider and that ludicrously slow launcher patching anyway. :p

I currently have the non Steam install, but intend to switch over.

And... The release client "feels" great. Still playing closed beta, but can't find when early access starts?

In theory, tomorrow. Or Fri for basic Founders. Sun for Starters.

I really wanted to get my client reinstalled today and try Cable, that I never tried yet. In case I want him at release. Steam install doesn't seem to be working for me today.

Well dammit. I finally got the Steam installer going, and they post that closed beta ends at 4pm eastern.

I won't have it up and running before then.

Guess I missed my chance to sample Cable. Not sure who I will buy outside of my Avengers pack now. Hell, maybe I'll just hang on to the Gs for a while and see what happens with prices. I'm sure I could survive on Hulk and Iron Man for a bit.

Well, I was assuming that 1g=1 cent so no real shock there but I don't see spending a lot anyway. Here's hoping drops aren't too rare.

Cable was 2000 G's. he has a nice direct attack and a stun/DoT. I still like Deadpool better, but Cable is slick.

Yeah the premium characters are going to run you $10-$20 dollars outside the packs. 1000Gs = about $10.

I really don't get the interest in this. I love Action RPGs but the beta was so dull. Running around as a comic book hero just felt wrong.

Wrong in general? Or wrong as in they didn't nail the feel of the hero you were playing?
Ultimately it's all personal preference, but I think they nailed the feel of every hero I tried, and thought the game was very, very fun. There's nothing wrong with this not being the game for you, but if you don't get the interest in it, why post in the thread for it?

Just confused. I tend to be easy to please when it comes to this stuff but this game really felt more like a budget Flash title or something. Ironman walking from room to room blasting some generic thugs just felt wrong and really dull. Trying to understand what people see in it.

and now I can't install game, can't find down load on steam, and get a broken link when I try from the marvel heroes site.

They changed the installer Fri, what we were talking about above...

But if you want the steam version, press the Windows button + R to open the "Run" menu and type:

steam://run/226320/

Enter, and that will start the Steam installer.

Highly recommend this way anyway. Better download speeds, faster patches, no stupid bitraider.

Sweet, thanks, I had uninstalled it today becuase of the change.

Official forums crashed or down on purpose? I was trying to find patch notes but can't get in.

Steam just downloaded a huge patch.

I know during yesterday's "end of beta" announcement there was a mention of another post to talk about changes to the forums for launch, but I never went back to check that last night.

Also, for those playing on Steam, apparently this is a link to the launcher web front. So you can check server status and see any messages. So you get everything you could want, and don't have to deal with bitradier and slow patching.

I can understand this. I'm a sucker for almost any MMO, I grew up on the Marvel universe and I really enjoy action RPGs. This game should've been a dream for me but after playing it for a few hours I was actually kinda bored. I mean, I'm still going to give the game another shot at launch because maybe I just wasn't in the right headspace but the first couple of maps I played seemed fairly lifeless and the combat felt sluggish with no real tactical choices to speak of.

Maybe my mistake was picking Daredevil but since that was one of my favorite comics growing up I just had to. I played until I at least had enough skills to fill out my hotbar but that didn't really add anything to the combat. The levels felt like studio lots instead of living environments and I never really felt like I had a goal other than knock everybody out that's in front of me.

After playing this I hopped back into Path of Exile, another action rpg MMO, and the gameplay just "felt" better and, as thin as the story is, I felt like I understood why I was hacking through a thousand enemies to get to the end of the level.

Again, I'll definitely be giving this another shot and I'll try to go with a completely different style of character but with so many free MMOs out there now, I just don't have time to stick with ones that don't grab me, regardless of how awesome I think the idea is.

Now the forums say:

The Marvel Heroes Forums are offline as we reconfigure for Early Game Access. We'll bring them back online on May 28th before 10AM PDT.

Thanks for your patience!

But... that was like an hour ago.

Oh... the launcher says:

Early Game Access Delayed
5/28/13: There will be a delay opening the game servers today for Early Game Access. We apologize for the late notice. We will issue a further update at MarvelHeroes.com (and here) as soon as possible.

Oh well, not like I am in today anyway. But trying to watch for you guys that are.

EDIT: Also that steam patch this morning was 3.4 GB. So if you don't have your home PC up and patching already, you should try to get on that.

I'm afraid that they just didn't package the game right for steam and that every patch might be this big... Might be worth comparing the download sizes between patcher and Steam!

I uninstalled it today as it was downloading the whole 3.x GB again. And I probably won't come back to it soon.

Overall I was pretty disappointed with this game once I got to play for a bit longer than 10 minutes. I played as Spider-Man and the icons for his items looked like placeholders from an early alpha. I got stuck all the time when swinging around and feedback FX (either sound or visual) for a lot of collisions and events (e.g. hitting enemies when swinging) seemed to be missing and I often hit invisible walls when trying to use corners as cover or shooting a bad guy over a guard rail. The levels were too long, felt empty and repetitive. Might check back in a couple of weeks when people are still positive about this here otherwise I'm glad this is free to play and I didn't pay anything for it. I would have since I'm a big Marvel fan.

Spider-Man was notoriously awful for a long stretch of beta. He was the first hero I bought with the beta G too, and it was horrible. Supposedly he got buffed/fixed repeatedly a few weeks back but I never got around to trying him again.

But yeah, it would make sense for them to have all the movie Avengers, Spider-Man, Wolverine, and probably Deadpool all at highly effective levels for launch. People are going to gravitate towards those most popular heroes, and if they suck, some people will probably stop playing.

Going to get my Deadpool Pirate on as soon as the servers come up. My goal is to play each character to the end, it won't happen, but you got to have goals.

Yeah I'm just hoping to make it with one hero...

I have such altitis in most MMOs, not sure how I will be able to focus.

Update on game launch

Hello everyone,

Today is a big day for everyone on the Marvel Heroes team! We’re in the process of getting ready to put the game live, but it’s going slower than we hoped.

Late last week, we found some serious issues that we felt we could not launch the game with. The entire Marvel Heroes team has been working for the last 96 hours straight to get the game ready. This process is nearly complete and ask for your patience.

We always want to find these types of potential errors, so we’re glad we had the opportunity to fix them in advance of launch.

We will not leave this studio until you can play the game. We hope this will be in a matter of hours.

For those who purchased Ultimate Packs, we’re working to get the game up and running as soon as possible. We’ll issue updates here as we get them.

We appreciate your understanding,

David Brevik and the Marvel Heroes Team

Early access for Ultimate Pack heroes is open. I don't know who to level first so I'm probably going to attempt to get every hero to 10 and then figure it out from there. IGN is shonuph.

My ign is SpyNavy. I'll probably Deadpool it tonight, maybe sooner. I am Mr. mom right now.

I am going to try this when it opens, but I just want to know when are they going to release Iron Fist??

Hm down for maintenance. Supposed to be up at 1pm eastern. Should be early access for me at that point.

How far behind you ultimate people am I going to be?
