I also make an effort not to favor one side too much until I can start to see who's in the lead, at which point I definitely start cozying up to them.
We now have Drox Operative on Steam's Greenlight. Please go here and vote for Drox so we can get the game on Steam!
Yes, sir! Most definitely will.
Voted for it!
Wohoo! Voted up, I'll be sure to look into this once my current pile of games is a little smaller.
Steven (thanks for stopping by again) has said they're in the beginning stages of an expansion. If it's anything like Demon War then it'll be a must have.
What are the general thoughts on spending points at level up? I've been trying to up command somewhat in line with thrust availability, and dumping the rest into the categories with the racial bonuses. I try to keep a few points saved up for quickly plussing skills up to equip some new phat lewts as well. Other ideas?
I've been playing around with the demo and have had fun. I'll be dropping some pennies on this to support the devs. I'd certainly like to see more of this sort of stuff out there.

They have another more traditional Hack and slash (Din's Curse) on sale on steam today for five dollars.
We finally announced our expansion, Drox Operative: Invasion of the Ancients, today. You can read the expansion's description and feature list on the Drox Operative: Invasion of the Ancients page.
Yay! You named it. Got bored with hearing "the expansion". Now it exists for real.
Din's Curse is *definitely* worth $5.
Sadly, I don't think I've played this since it left beta. However, once the expansion comes out, I think I'll head back in.
Expansions out (playable beta), so now's the time to head back in.
Gracias. I'm in.
The expansions are all added content right? So I'm not going to lose anything if I play the game for the first time with everything enabled?
Sorry, Tamren, I don't understand that question.
So I've played an hourish with the new expansion as a new Scavenger, and I'm digging it. Bases and chips are cool, and while the expansion didn't add gamepad support on its own, that is REALLY nice too.
I guess what I'm asking is if the expansions change the core gameplay at all. Will the experience be any different if I just play the base game? Or is it just more of the same with new races and new missions?

We didn't remove anything, so I think you'll be fine going straight to Drox + IotA.
Cool thanks!
Version 1.015 is out: patches and changes. Since the last official patch, the patch adds joystick support (windows only for now), reworks the UI a little, allows Lithosoid planets to increase the durability of components, rebalances things a bit better, hopefully fixes a Mac sound issue, and fixes a bunch of smaller things.
I'm stoked to give the game a go with the controller as it just might fix my semi-dislike of ship movement.
I am loving it with the controller. Seriously. The mouse button usage is a bit weird at first, but it works.
