World of Tanks: Catch All

Sounds like this weekend is a great time to use that one day of free premium.

The codes I have are for 30 day Premium, are for existing or new accounts. The codes for 2100 gold are for new accounts only.

I will GLADLY take a 30-day premium code off of you.

PM sent.

I'd love one of those too, if you have any left. Loving this game!

Sorry, Johnvanjim both Premium codes are already gone.

So, as of this morning, there is a shiny new IS-8 sitting in my garage. After splurging 100 gold and 30k on a crew (as suggested above--thanks!), I did not have enough to upgrade any of the modules. So, a bit of a grind later, I had just barely made 180k to afford the medium level cannon. But with only 7k left in my bank account, I did not have enough for ammunition :(. So my brand new and shiney IS-8 is still that. Just sitting on the lot collecting dirt.

Well, that is better than what I did when I bought my Tiger I. I don't remember if they didn't give a warning or if I was just too excited to try my first heavy tank, I rolled out, zeroed in on a tank, clicked fire... And THEN remembered about ammo.

Been there before. When I bought my Grille I did the same thing. I just sat there the whole match hoping that my team won, and that no one would notice I was just sitting there. I kept moving from bush to bush to make it look like I couldn't get a good shot.

Called my folks yesterday to chat and mentioned to my dad that you can get 300 gold when you change your password. Within 5 minutes I got a call back about Captcha.

I've created a monster.

Its all right, really, as long as you don't catch him trolling in game.

His tactics aren't superb and I've seen some nasty stuff thrown at him in chat while I've watched him play. I don't think he even looks at the chat though, and plays in his own little world. I haven't pointed out the chat to him, because he seems to be having quite a bit of fun.

The oblivious troll.

I have a tendency to just laugh at the chat. Most people have very little clue as to what the hell they need to do -- only what they think they're supposed to do. The worst offenders are the 'we have to take the high ground' group. The second worst offenders are the guys that decide that they absolutely must go tour the entire map on a defense or an assault instead of focusing on the objective. Ensk, most especially drives me crazy. Why even bother with the left side of the map when you have to cross that bridge choke point in front of their heavy defense? Why? Why? More often than not, fully half of the team will try and fail over there anyway. Its even worse for the defenders -- why even bother crossing the bridge? You know they've got to cross there to even be effective. Hell, there have been a few defenses that when I'm a heavy tank, I'll simply park myself sideways on the bridge so that my team won't cross. If I die on the bridge, that's fine, try pushing my hulking E100 or IS4 corpse under fire in order to reopen the bridge.

I've got oodles of tanks I need to buy up, but the new silver making scheme is brutal. Since the change, I'm lucky if I can make 100k in a good sitting of tanks. That being said, my best moneymakers are the Type 59 and the Vk3801, which will fit with many of ya'lls tanks, so please feel free to invite me anytime I'm on and you're on. Biacksheep is the name. Yes, that is with an 'i' instead of an 'l' in the name.

I'm actually thinking about going back and buying my old Jumbo since I loved it so very much and figure that it'll be a good 10k-20k a game tank.

Playing arty, I love that bridge. I can train my sights on one spot, have it aimed all the way in, then just wait for someone to drive right into my shells. When I play any other type of tank, I see it as the immediate death I normally dish out to other players.

New hard drive, same issue with getting 8.5 to install, even with deleting/uninstalling everything they say to uninstall or delete. Sigh.

Bah... what a horrible game. I had my Tier 4 M7 Priest put in a match with Tier 8 heavy tanks. I had 19 direct hits, on 5 tanks, and only destroyed 1 (that was at 9% when I hit it). I might as well have had my gunner run into the fray, unarmored, with a BB gun.

Yup, I tend to do the same thing when they are starting that push. I'm always hoping for a good tracking on that bridge

I thought Ensk was the town with the open field on one side, the railroad tracks up the middle, and a grain elevator on one end's goal?

If its like the difference between the Grille (Tier IV german SPG) and the Hummel (Tier V), then things should get better once you finally move up from the Priest. Still, looking forward to the Tier VI SPG.

On the "things that make you go WTF", a few days ago I watched a Marder II decide to not shoot an AMX 40, but instead rammed the duck...

I seem to be in a Tier IV or V rut these days, most of the tanks in my garage are that range. III and below are okay at best, but IV is where things get interesting. Been having an oddly fun time with the chinese M5A1 Stuart, doing a lot of scouting with it. I may like it better than my T-50, it doesn't suffer the problems with physics screwing up control at high speeds.

I'm rolling with Lor. 15 50 and am quite disappointed in it. I would much rather have German or Russian T6 SPG.

Did he even scratch the paint on AMX? I doubt it.

Cherish your T5-6 times. Once you get into T7 and higher, the games get tougher and way more expensive. The xp requirements also get much greater. So you'll be playing in a more competitive league, with your stock crappy tank, for longer. Just to have a slightly less crappy tank, for even longer. The money also starts being a problem. As a good player T8 is about break even point. I doubt you can make any money with T8 tanks, unless you have premium subscription, or have a premium tank.

While I do enjoy my KV-3 Tier 7, and could move into Tier 8 quickly enough, I'm not really inclined to. Tier 5 seems to be the sweet spot for fun. Just ran amok with a T-28, Top Gun, Invader, 8 kills out of 13, solo survivor on my team, solid win. Even when the MM sets up the match with the tier 5 as low, it still has potential for fun.

So, at the moment, I'm mostly getting a tier 5 tank to elite, then finding a different line to work up to tier 5, rinse, repeat. Maybe once I get everything interesting up to tier 5, then I'll finally move up a few tiers. Or stop playing.

Yes, I was thinking Erlenberg. Ensk is the wheel city on one side, a small suburb on the other and the field inbetween.

Yeah, pound for pound the GWPanther is one of the finest SPGs out there. The M12 is pretty nice too, very steady base but that creates a slow turn rate. Both hit hard, but the GWPanther has a freaking turret, which allows you to lock tracks much longer.

The Lor1550 is a little different and doesn't quite play like any of the other arty. It has low damage potential, but makes up for it by firing way faster and having very good mobility and speed. On certain maps, you can stage in areas that people will never look for you and get good angles on places that people just aren't accustomed to.

Let me amend that... if you ever get into an S-51, it will spoil you for life. That thing is ridiculous. I've been one shot in the frontal / top armor by one when I was in an E75 for a one shot kill.

Russians have two such arties. One you can get to from the regular arti progression (I forget what it's called, but it's nicknamed School Bus), whicle the other (S-51) you to to from KV-2 progression. Both of them have 950 dmg stock guns and 1850 dmg upgrade guns. THAT is what I want, instead of the damn Lor 15 50.

Yeah -- I edited that into my last post

I'll be selling the 1550 and KV2 when I finally get there to that S51. I should have bought it back in the day when they didn't have the fully fleshed out Soviet line, but i didn't.

I've been getting pretty invested in this lately, although my dad fell right into the deep end, he's joining a clan comprised of mostly current and ex-defence force personnel. I'm not terribly surprised this was the MMO that finally hooked him, he loves this sort of stuff.

Why oh why must the early British "tanks" be so squishy? Glad I've finally scored myself a Matilda, now that thing can take a hit or two.

I'm doing that grind on both the Grille and the Priest at the same time... it's one hell of a grind, to go from needing 2k, to 10-11k, then shoot up to 42k on each... ugh.

I had an interesting ramming moment yesterday. I was in my SU-26, and I had a tank flank me at our base. He's coming up a hill, had me dead to rights... and I just said f*ck it. I'm going to ram him for a change. Right when we hit, my shell reloads and I just drop it on him. I took almost no damage, and took him out. Next thing I see is him asking how that happened in general chat. LMAO. I forgot what kind of tank he was, but he wasn't alone in wondering how I wasn't dead.
