GWJ Online Boardgame Group

Yeah, Sabateur was fun. I hadn't done an online boardgame in a very long time.

After visiting PAX East's freeplay smorgasboardgame table, I want to get more into these games. Will be monitoring this thread! Can I get an invite to the steam group?

Also, has anyone ever tried playing MTG online with Cockatrice?
EDIT: Nevermind, it was shut down.

Did you guys get a session in at the start of this week?

I totally forgot with all the Easter stuffs going on. We'll try and do one this upcoming Sunday night (USA time).

I've got work shifts on my next two Mondays, so I'll miss the next two sessions most likely, but hoping this keeps going so I can jump on board when I'm free.

Somewhat relevant to our previous play sessions, I played some table top Agricola and Sabotuer over the easter weekend with some newbies and some old hands (thought I'd introduce some boardgaming on my trip out of town given it was Table Top Day), and ended up with some Sabotuer games with 7 players. Had a lot of fun, mainly because i had the benefit of the brutal turn of events when you have 3 sabotuers vs 4 miners. So good when sabotuer after sabotuer reveals themselves completely obliterating any chance of the miners striking gold.

But back on point, I'll show up again sooner or later guys.

I'm in the group already, and down for some gaming with a few days notice.

Anyone around right about now?

Gimme like 2-3 hours (grin)

If anyone's around, I'm looking for some board gaming tonight. It's 830PM EST - catch me in steam chat or vent.

Anybody playing Eclipse on iOS? I'd love to get a 4-6 player game up some time via Game Center and have a little banter on Vent alongside. If everyone knows the rules I'd estimate 30-45min per player.

I'm Troubleshot on Game Center, let me know if anyone is interested.

Thanks for the heads up Carrot, not sure how I missed it.

No problem!

[Attention Eclipse iOS Players!]

31m seeks 3-5 open minded Eclipse iOS players for online match.
Assuming 90min - 2hr session, depending on numbers.
Flexible on all terran or all species match.
Use of ventrillo or other means for table talk would be a plus.

I'm floating some times/dates that should suit some US folks...

Saturday 8th, 8pm USA EST(-5)
Wednesday 12th, 8pm USA EST(-5)

If none of these fit for you, still let me know if you're interested. We will get this done.

Please apply within.

So it looks like I should put Wrath of A as my choice from what I've seen above.

I'd also like to get a copy of munchkin too. There are a lot of different varieties. I wanted to start with vanilla or some sort of gold edition type thing. Any recommendations on which one I should get?

Vanilla is fine, but I've always thought Star Munchkin was the best. The absurdity of snapping together all your weapons into an unstoppable laser-dazer-bananafana-fo-phaser still seems like the best that any variant of the game could offer.

If you like Munchkin, I would recommend Cutthroat Caverns. It still has that back-stab your friend mentality, but it's more streamlined and people usually don't end up hating each other after a 3 hour session.

iOS Eclipse is one of those games that I jumped on immediately based purely on genre and concept. Unfortunately I am terrible at the game and find it a bit difficult to get into right now.

I'd be down to play but I can't ever play before 9pm (kids get put to bed @ 8:00).

I'd be all over a ventrilo-enabled Eclipse game but I want them to patch out some bugs first.

Maclintok, id be happy to do a two or three player game on vent to walk you through the basic rules and strategies if you're interested.

FSeven and Keithustus I think we should be able to swing something that works for all of us. What are the bugs in particular you're referring to? Some of the 'undo' cheats? I haven't encountered anything other than that I think...

Big Daddy's Creations, the Eclipse developer for iOS, is open about their patching process, but not very quick at patching, since they're still yet to release even one. There was a discussion on this thread some pages ago about the problems with Eclipse in its current original-release state. Check Big Daddy's site for the latest and complete list, so this is just a small sample of some of those bugs I personally find most annoying:

After upgrading ships with one Ancient part and another standard part, the Ancient part gets doubled and added in the standard part’s place
AI is unable to continue after all of its sectors have been taken
It is (sometimes?) possible to assign shots, which should not be able to hit, to ships with shields, if one player also has other ships without shields which can be hit (unable to reproduce)
Main Action Bar sometimes disappears after using the bottom left panel to see other players’ stats
Players do receive Reputation Token for taking part in combat, even though they retreated
Fleet movement algorithm does not prefer routes through nonally’s sectors
Invalid number of Ring III sectors in 2-5 player games
Uninfluencing sectors producing Money when going bankrupt does not cause Money income to drop instantly, it does drop at the beginning of the next turn (AKA The Cyprus Bug )
Wrong number of techs available for research, first three columns should be 5 techs each, next two 4 techs each, last three 3 tech each
Wrong Reputation Tile count
Orion Dreadnought blueprint should have 3 power, not 2

Actually I noticed the AI still getting rep tokens after retreat, but hadn't noticed or encountered the others. Lets revisit this match idea when it's patched then eh?

Ya, absolutely we will. Beyond those above, by far most annoying aspect of the current edition to me is that on other players' turns, you can't look around the board or review menus. You're just stuck on whatever view is defaulted for that player.

Looks like Tzolk'in is coming to Board Game Arena "soon."

Yes! (slightly delayed!)

I am now on Yucata. I bet you can guess my name.

Maclintok, FSeven and Keithustus (and any other Eclipse fans). I'm checking in again to gague interest in an Eclipse game with as many goodjers as we can get and possibly also hop on Vent for the duration for table talk.
Would estimate a 2 hour session.
Still waiting on some fixes to the game as per Keithustus' request.

I'd be down, depending on the time.

Cool, my intention would be to find a time that best suited all parties.
