Hey, that's classy!

Calling it now, somehow, this new version will not be compatible with saves with the original disk.

Wait... Skyrim uses Kinect?

Also... 200 GoTY awards? Were they counting blogs?

Yeah, they patched in voice commands awhile ago.

You underestimate the number of blogs out there.

Yeah but I didn't put it as my GotY! :p

Somewhat limited, though, based on what I had heard. Never used it though, as voice commands seem somewhat silly, would probably annoy my wife, and take me out of the game.

I'm kind of surprised that they only did it for 360 and left out PC and PS3. I can't imagine that once the coding was done, accepting voice input would have been difficult on the other two platforms.

You don't want to be yelling FUS RO DAH constantly? Hand in your gamer card

He is basing his statement that it would annoy his wife on the fact that it annoys her when he does it in bed. I know it does mine.

That's because you're using the wrong shout. You need TIID KLO UI (slow time). But definitely don't use FEIM ZII GRON (become ethereal). And yes, I did have to look them up.

Love to disappoint you.

Gstaff in the comments[/url]]Yes, save are compatible.

A couple things to note.

1) For PS3 users, you’ll need to install the DLC content from the Legendary Disc (even if you already downloaded some of it) in order for it to work with the Legendary game disc. This content installed from the disc will not play with the original Skyrim disc… only if you’re using the Legendary disc.

2) For Steam users, if you already own any Skyrim content, the Legendary purchase will only add content that is not already part of your Steam library. Unlike Fallout 3 Game of the Year Edition, a separate title (Fallout 3 vs. Fallout 3 GOTY Edition) will not appear in the library.

Mudbunny had the right of it. Punching dragons is the way to go. Punching mammoths is not to be underestimated either. I hung my swords up and put my shields away. Lydia got left at home, and a punching I will go, a punching I will go, high ho, the derry-o, a punching I will go.

So I'm barely into this game and realizing that I don't have a good sense of how I should set hotkeys, the fundamentals of crafting, and various other basic things that tell me that I need a good tutorial. Any n00b-friendly videos that folks can suggest?

I can't think of any off-hand. I can tell you what I think you should do: immerse yourself. Just play the game, figure things out as you go. There is nothing too obtuse or complicated that you can figure it out on your own as you go.

The smith in Riverwood will help you learn smithing, the alchemist and jarl's court mage will help you learn alchemy and enchanting respectively. Otherwise Nicholaas is right.

The smith at the front gates of Whiterun will walk you through things, too.

I've been taking a break from Skyrim for Far Cry 3 and minecraft... I think I need to start playing less open ended games...

Thanks y'all. I'm trying to take Nicholaas's advice and figure it out as I go.

Hmmm, all my mods are installed through Skyrim Nexus, might a mod from Steam be compatible?

Looks like it'll be on the nexus at some point.

Yes. I use both the Nexus Mod Manager and the Steam Workshop and haven't had any issues (other than some mods being incompatible with other mods, but that's not due to using both NMM & the Steam Workshop) Just make sure you use BOSS to fix your load order (which you should be doing anyway).

While we're talking about mod management, can the Nexus Mod Manager automatically upgrade mods yet?

I may well have been missing something obvious, but the last several NMM versions I've used have been able to check for new versions of mods -- but then require that I go to the website to download the new version.

I'm going to say for straight replacement mods (making something already existing in the game look/sound different), maybe, assuming all it has to do is a straight uninstall old version and install new version. Generally I'd say no, because mods are complex and bury themselves into the save, and you can need to do things within the game so that your save doesn't mess up. It really depends on the mod, how complex it is, what it touches, how competent the mod author is, how much care they've taken.

Yeah, I've already been seriously burned by the Open Cities mod (Windhelm is now un-enterable). I don't think NMM can auto update mods - but it does provide a link straight to the nexus page - a few clicks per mod, which I agree is cumbersom, but can be handy if you know that an update to one mod creates an incompatibility with another mod - you may want to hold off on updating.

I think it can, but it entirely depends on if the person that put the mod together has the NMM package configured for it.

Configured for auto-updating, or configured for NMM? I've always had to manually update, and by that I just mean going to nexus, and clicking the 'Download with Manager' button, NMM then takes over..
