Does Matrix publish/develop/spit out any wargames taking place now? Like if WWIII happened (minus nukes)?

Not Matrix and an RTS, but the European Escalation and soon to be released Wargame AirLand Battle are phenomenal.

Another choice is Supreme Ruler 2010 or 2020. Didn't play the sequel, but the first had enough problems that I didn't think it was worth another look.

Hmmm. I need me a game that has - global reach, amorality in its genes, covert and overt wars for resources, biological weapons, information and bad information, small squads carrying WMD-level weapons, mobile armies (air-dropped tanks), drones, assassinations, guided missiles and tactical nuke-level arms. Public panic levels, economies and transportation should also be important too.

Hmm. I also want a solid gold cookie. Damn it! Somebody make my dream game!

Has anyone mentioned Defcon?

Oh yeah. I've got Defcon. I enjoy it but I'm looking for something like a modern-day Hearts of Iron. I'm hoping East Vs. West HOI will satisfy me. You get to go all the way to 1991!

I picked it up as part of a bundle sale a while back. It seemed very pleasant to look at and oddly calming for a game about nuclear war. Anyone had a chance to play it with others? I'd be curious how the multi is.

I played it multiplayer back when it first came out and enjoyed it quite a bit.

In case you guys don't get the newsletter Matrix has announced they're going to start doing weekly sales. So, some movement there finally.

That's good news.

Woah.

And really, who doesn't want to be in 1991?

War. What is it good for? Video games.

For those of you who don't check the boardgames thread, but enjoy a bit of tabletop wargaming:

GMT games is having a sale, get any one or two in stock games for 50% off. Use the code TW1350 to get the discount.

Relatedly, anyone have any good recommendations? I'm looking for multiplayer games as I've already have a glut of 2 player games. I'm eyeing Here I Stand and Dominant Species, though I heard mixed things about the latter game.

I'm a big fan of Dominant Species.

Not sure whether this has been mentioned before, but there is currently a new WWII North Africa WEGO game in development, called Desert War 1940-1943.
It's been discussed/refined over at the Wargamer.com forums.

Current version, still in development, can be found here:

Interesting find, spelk. Have you gotten a chance to try it out yet? Might be a good entry for the blog.

I've installed it, but haven't had any time to put into playing it. It will be on my list to investigate, and possibly do an AAR.

Speaking of AAR's, I've just finished part 2 of the Android only wargame, Conflicts: Rommel and Afrika Korps... here it is..

Part 2 is now up.. up to Turn 21! Things are getting a little stretched!

Here's one for ya spelk.

Android-only TBS from Bohemia Interactive. Tegra 3 phones/tablets only though.

Tell me more.

Is anyone playing Wargame: Airland Battle?

Yep. Just haven't fired it up yet. So many games right now.

March of the Eagles patch.

Glad to see they are not pulling a Sengoku on this and just abandoning it. I think there is something good here and with a little more polish and work it could be something special.

Also, two new DLCs for Alea Jacta Est (success at which still eludes me). The Cantabrian War and the Third Servile War (also known as Spartacus' Rebellion).

Man, I would like to pick that up sometime. Just no time for everything.

It's not an easy game, at least not for me.

Gamersgate has Dominions 3 for $14.95 today.

Allied General is out. Check it out at Matrix Games.

I like these Matrix weekly sales. This week has two WWI games on the block, including WWI Gold by Ageod for $20. Tempting... not enough WWI games.

And now they've got Battle Academy on sale (including the iOS game).

They're learning. Slowly.
