While holding it you will see what your teammates are seeing as well as your own vision (the same thing you get if you were playing local coop). Without it you just see your teammates wandering around in "fog of war" without any extra info from their positioning. I'm baffled that the default is to leave it off.

At the very least it should be a toggle.

Was fun, but my kid reminded me she needed attention too, she was asleep but tend to wake up often. So, I couldn't play into a coop game for too long.

I'll definitely play some more.

Glad to get some time in with you folks. Manach - I'm in the same boat, so any time you just want a round or two, feel free to ping me.

Several of you have now received invites to Gamers with Jobs: The Monaco Crew -- I made a quick pass and probably didn't hit everybody. Friend me up (see sig) and I'll make sure you're invited; the group should be set up so any member can invite, and I'll try to make everyone officers so you can do fancy stuff. Also, everyone should be able to post announcements and events, so we can form co-op groups a bit easier.

Toss me an invite too.

I'll take an invite to the group.

Just picked this up, but won't have much time until the weekend. Would love an invite to the Steam group.

Fantastic.
Convinced a coworker with a new rig to buy the game and took him through a few levels last night. It was tough at first but its really neat seeing someone start to pick up the information being thrown at you.

Was that before or after you quit out of the game right before we were about to finish a level?

Before.

Fire surprised me and the rest of our Borderlands game with a copy last night, and all sorts of shenanigans and hilarity ensued.

If I could get an invite to the Steam group I'd appreciate it.

Krev is the best for gifting me a copy. Can I get an invite to the group?

OK, I'm curious, may have to check out some videos or reviews of this when I get home.

First little bit of co-op seemed rather chaotic, granted I'm a total noob and messed things up a few times but even beyond that. Looks like more practice and lots of fun await.

As much as I like the music, I think it would be funny to turn off the in-game music and play my own in the background. I'd probably start with "A Little Less Conversation" and then switch to "Yakety Sax" when the alarm inevitably gets raised.

Well gave it a shot with a couple of GWJ'ers and I was definitely the weakest link. Sorry about that gang. I'll be better next time.. was the first time playing multiplayer and I could barely understand what was going on.

A couple coworkers and I went in on a 4 pack. I'd like to tackle it first with them as a crew of newbies, then may jump in with you guys over the weekend. I am so excited for this game, been hearing great things!

My wife and I just got this. Took 2 hours to get my generic controllers to work. (Evidently, the trick is xbox360ce 3.14 or somesuch, and older version).

Was very chaotic at first, but after about 4 missions, we started figuring out how to not get killed. And learned how to draw guards attention on purpose to distract from dash and grab tactics. Was definitely fun!

Played some for the first time tonight- wow, it's easy to fall into the appeal of this game. I've only been playing BioShock Infinite lately (going through 1999 mode)- this was a welcome change in mood and atmosphere.

Couple of basic tips to give, based on what I've seen people struggling with:

Spoiler:

* Pay attention to the "?" over the heads of civilians and guards. It means you're in someone's line of sight and fills up faster when you're closer. It drops back to zero very quickly when you leave LOS, so hurry into a bush or through a door/window or even just behind a pillar/corner. You will not be spotted if you're directly beside or behind someone.
* Similarly, a white "!" on the map means that you were last spotted at that location, and someone is coming to investigate. If a civilian spotted you, it will flash red briefly when that civilian reaches a guard. If you get out of LOS from this icon, you have successfully ditched your pursuers.
* Remember to use your items. Smoke bomb and wrench are pretty universally handy. If you pick up a gun, be prepared for the inevitable chaos.
* Know when to run and when to sneak. If you need to get into a hiding spot, you'll usually want to be running. If you've got a disguise on, you'll want to be sneaking unless you're confident about all witnesses being absent.
* It takes a little practice, but you can gently bump civilians who have coins under them to grab the coin without causing an alert.
* In co-op, let each player take advantage of their skills -- if you have the option, don't spend time opening locked doors while a Locksmith is standing around.

It's been a long time since I've stayed up til 2 in the AM playing a game. This game is kind of great. Some of the later games can be rather punishing for engaging in tomfoolery.

This game gets fiendishly difficult at a certain point.

Some of the later missions, even in the Locksmith's Campaign, feel like it's not at all viable to go pure stealth and still clean them out.

I concur, however may I say excellent 2 man team work this morning.

How are you defining "pure stealth"? Not using guns? Not setting off alarms? If you're okay with setting off the occasional alarm, it's definitely possible to clean out a mission solo without guns. I've cleaned out the entirety of Locksmith's Story but have only done so for the first few of Pickpocket's Story (and still have a few missions to beat at all, because I try to beat them in SP without dying at all).

Yeah spamming items and intentionally alerting enemies. Setting off the occasional alarm is okay if you reset and go back to stealth. There's just so many traps and people on the coins that I don't know how you can do it solo in an elegant way.

Patience and practice. I mean, the game was only released a few days ago -- your opinion may change over time.

A quick update on the Xbox version:

As most of you know, we caught a bug that forced us to pull the release of the Xbox version of the game the day before release. It was a minor but important bug that was causing disconnects in online play. I submitted an update to attempt to fix the bug early in the week, but unfortunately it only half fixed the problem. I'm working on another fix now that I'm hoping to submit this week. Once it's confirmed fixed it shouldn't take long to push it through and get the game out. I can't promise any particular dates since I don't control that end of things, but I do know that fans are starting to get a little impatient with the lack of information. I wish I could give you more specific information, but until I have a confirmed fix, I won't be able to give a date. Hoping to have a little more information for you and fill you in on more of the details as soon as I have it!

About 4 hours of SP later, I think I've got the hang of the game. Hopefully I can redeem myself with the GWJ'er crowd and get a few MP games in.

I've tried to send as many group invites as I could -- if you're still not in the group, ask someone else to invite you or send me a friend request and bug me. PM on the forum is fine too.
