...I remember trying this briefly at launch and it didn't grab me...
was that the 2006 original, or the 2009 free to play? Either way it has updated fairly extensively.
I had some sh*tty personal things happen that prevented me from being on Tuesday, but they have been resolved, and I should be on tonight.

The 2006 original. Got home later than I intended tonight and I didn't get to play DDO or Demon's Souls. Guess I'll put it off until Saturday. Gotta finish prepping for Sunday's Pathfinder game tomorrow.
Haven't been on lately, sorry all, mostly beta testing Marvel, but also PoE and now my D&D night has been moved to Tuesday nights so I'll try to be on next Thursday.

Once you create your character(s), post their names and we can add you to the guild (it will send an in game mail 'sigil' you can click to join).
Hi guys! (Jugrik/Alanjia here.) I won't be able to play tonight -- gotta work on some homework for a Win8 programming class, but I hope to make it Tues. Have fun!
Sorry I missed last night. Will be on over the weekend and then again for Tuesdays group.
We ran the prison of the planes in Gianthold; and the minotaur lair. Wanted to leave the Necropolis 3 capstone for when you were here.
Sorry all, not sure when I'll be back to playing....Neverwinter owns me now....
I would like to give this game a try... I found Neverwinter entertaining but its just not DD "enough" so I thought I would look at DDO.. any good beginner tips/tricks website I can pursue?

The DDO wiki has the best organized info out there.
Here is a general overview of all the classes and races.
Here is the wiki starter guides for each class which goes into more detail.
Those give you the basics about each classes role, useful feats and how the class is commonly used if taken on a multi-class build.
Here is a list of all the quests sorted by adventure pack. All the Free to play quests are at the top. If you join us for group night and we are running a quest you do not have access to we can get you a guest pass to that quest for the night.
The official DDO forums are a mess right now as they just upgraded. Google searches and links you find to old forum posts will not work without manually editing the url. They need to fix their redirects.
For now, if you find a guide that links to the forums replace /en/ in the url with /forums/ and that will usually fix it.
Early game content can be very repetitive and is one of DDO's major weak points. Just about every low level quest has you going through the sewers and gives a bad impression to new players. Don't get discouraged, the quests become much more involved and interesting once you make it to the marketplace around level 5 or 6.
Most of us are always working on alts and don't have a problem dropping onto a lower level character to help new players. Post your character name and any one of us can send you a guild invite.
Cool thanks.. what class would you recommend.. I tend to not enjoy playing back line ranged dps/caster type classes.. I like melee but I prefer hybrid melee class over the pure DPS type classes.. I particularly enjoy bringing utility to a group.. (my main in EQ was a Bard, in WoW a melee Shaman).. Is there a hybrid melee healer?? Seems like perhaps a Bard would fit that role?

you could also do a Ranger (Tempest) - the two weapon path; but they don't get any spells until 4th - might be a bit slow.
Edit: come to think of it, Paladins get lay on hands around level 2 or 3. Lots of options
How about Light Monk?
Sorry about dropping today folks. My provider decided to take a crap, and just now came back up

With all the thunderstorms across the continent, we figured it was a power outage or something (perhaps it was on your providers side).
I think I'll break out the festivus cookies. I'm pretty sure that could give the barbarian an extra +10 to Strength at least for a little while; I should probably use some of the other consumables I seem to hold onto eternally without ever using them (hello wands of Stoneskin).
Yeah, there were a couple things I should have done, but didn't remember until the next day. Like hitting Empower Spell, Stoneskin... should have surrounded the party with a bunch of walls of fire, too.
I feel like I played ok in the boss fight, but my gear was lacking. I don't have a good byeshk axe to bypass the DR.
Anyways, I'm a maybe for tomorrow. An old friend is in town and we might be meeting up.
