Gunpoint - A Stealth Puzzle/Platform Game

Due out at Christmas for Windows, the game is a bit of stealth puzzler, where each level the goal is to steal data off a computer.

You're a freelance spy, infiltrating high security buildings with subterfuge, gratuitous face-punching, and an unusual type of electronic sabotage. You can cross-link things like light switches and doors so that the guards unwittingly take out their own security systems, their colleagues, and even themselves. It's pretty funny.

Here's an early video:

There are a bunch of new screen shots on the website, with newer art than what's shown in the video. Best of all: The game will be free.

Reminds me of Yahtzee's (of Zero Punctuation fame) game Trilby: Art of Theft. It is free and good fun if you like this kind of games. Lots of mechanics seem similar.

Nabbed a beta key for this, somehow. I'll be checking it out shortly.

If you get any more keys, I'll gladly relieve you of the burden of one

It just arrived via email. I have no idea why or how.

Why won't one arrive for ME?!

Well, I have the two-week beta installed on Steam. I'll give it a shot tonight, and post impressions. I'm wondering if I met this guy via my time in the Boston Indies scene?

I have a hazy memory of putting my email into his website for promises of updates or something over a year ago, so it might have been something like that.

Yay! It's coming to Steam in a week, June 3rd. Available for pre-purchase right now. Price is $9.

Woo! I forgot this hadn't even come out yet. Downloading the demo.

To make this thread easier for anyone who might be searching, this is the game being developed by Tom Francis vacation rentals Prada Gucci.

Er, forget those last search terms.

Since it's the cool thing to do, apparently, you should consider purchasing through Francis' website: http://www.gunpointgame.com/ - Steam key included.

Ugh, and I just told Demyx about an hour ago that I didn't think there was much coming out in June that interested me. Thanks Tom!

And it's through the Humble Store so you get a DRM free copy!

Sweet! Finally out!

Merry Dishonored Gunpoint Christmas!

The conclusion to this demo is gold. Pure gold.

Indeed. I came for the puzzles (and music), I stayed for the writing

Agreed, and I really like the art style, too. This is pixel art done right!

I played through the first 4 missions (wipe all the video footage backups), at which point I knew I wanted to play the whole game. So I stopped the demo there and bought the game immediately. I want to save the rest for the "real" playthrough.

... you actually stopped right before the demo ended on its own

Hey guys, this is out today! I've been on blackout, so I kinda forgot until I saw a facebook post this morning. Surprise!

On watched the giant bomb quick look of it and it looks pretty good to me.

A day early. A nice surprise, indeed.

It's good, guys, it's real good. The writing is absolutely stellar. The fact that it's very fun is a nice bonus.

Yup, the demo was pretty great.

I'm all over this when my schedule clears up.

Given that the demo was 5 levels, how many are in the final game, or how complex/long are they? I guess I'm asking how long it is.

Developer said he expected a run-through of the campaign to last around 3 hours.

And bought! I bought the special edition directly from the developer.

I was hooked already, but the end of the demo was masterful.

Played... I think 8-10 levels tonight. Quite happy with how this turned out, definitely worth the wait.

What a fantastic game! I beat it in one sitting tonight, 3 hours all told. Great writing and music, and the game was really fun. Well worth the admission fee!

I was kicking myself for impulsively buying the game on Steam and not the developer's website after seeing the positive review on Kotaku and the quicklook on Giant Bomb. But he's actually directing people to buy the game on Steam to raise its ranking and give it greater visibility.

I bought the Special Edition, which is $6 more and gives you commentaries on each level as well as a copy of the soundtrack. Even more goodies available with the Exclusive Edition. If I really like the game, I might be willing to pay another $11 to upgrade to that.
