SC2 Pro Tournament Discussion

You have Squirtle, Seed, Yonghwa, First... and you send MC? I rarely disagree with IM's coach but that was one of those cases. MC should be sent first, not as a last hope.

I actually kind of disagree on IM's coach. He's been, in my opinion, why they haven't won a GSTL in so long. He made tons of terrible decisions match after match. Remember, this is the guy that got his team all-killed by QXC because he kept tossing out b-teamer after b-teamer, not even remotely counting it as a possibility that MVP would lose when he put him out last.

I do agree that MC was a bad choice. I'm definitely with you in thinking he's a guy you throw out first or maybe second, but definitely not as either of your last two players.

Oh, yeah. Back then he was putting out all sorts of random players, but I mostly believe this is because barely anyone takes GSTL seriously in Korea. At least back then. So he was giving some experience to newbies (Ragnarok was one of them iirc? Or someone else... Seed also made his first game on GSTL with an amazing performance if you remember) so I wasn't entirely against that at the time. But this year he's been nailing it with very good choices so far.

Bisu's playing tomorrow in Pro league. I have high hopes.

Why?

But seriously, Bisu has been pretty bad in SC2 so far. At best mediocre. What gives you high hopes this time?

Where have you seen him play besides that one show match?

There was one particularly hilarious game on WoL between him and effort that was awful on both sides. That's the one that sticks out the most. He won, but because effort played slightly more terrible than he did.

They haven't been willing to put him out since which kinda says it all...

Yeah I remember the game youre talking about. I think they had only been playing SC2 for a month at that point. Jaedong is looking a lot better than in that tournament already. I dunno, I have some unlikely hope for Bisu and Flash to have some semblance of their Brood War rivalry in SC2 at some point.

Man I always manage to forget just how awful SNM is commentating Proleague. Then I watch again and it makes me sad.

*Also, Proleague is the absolute worst for ridiculous amounts of downtime.

Proleague started at 11. almost four hours later and they've gotten through 6 games.

GSTL started at 12:10, they played five games and were done like 45 minutes ago.

*Also, and this is spoiler(ish), but maybe your faith in Bisu isn't so out of place afterall.

*Taeja and Fantasy played a great match today in GSL. First match of Group D, if you want to catch it later on VOD. Game 3 is awesome.

That looked more like a Foxer TvT to be honest.

3 Day free GSL / GOM ticket http://www.gomtv.net/event/3DayFreeT...

Where's Taeja btw?

Trying not to ruin his wrists forever. Although that ship may have sailed.

*sC is a monster.

Didn't he quit to play LoL?

He did, shortly before Puzzle and Coca abandoned ship. They're all back now, of course. Although Puzzle and Coca are still teamless, last I checked.

Axiom hasn't grabbed them yet

Yeah. From what I've read, sC (and maybe the other guys) couldn't adjust to the team-training environment and decided to once again be one of the most awesome terrans in SC2.

Yay WCS.

And in response to that: http://www.shoutcraft.com/shoutcraft...

I'm really glad they're doing this.

Yup. I am actually somewhat excited to watch that. I couldn't care less about WCS NA this year.

Guys. Parting, Life, Flash, and Innovation in the same group for the next round of GSL.

Group B.

Can't wait.

I'll admit I laughed at Revival pie.

Yeah, noticed this earlier. Stacked doesn't begin to describe it.

I love it that the reason it is stacked is that they chose each other.

When I first saw that headline I sort of just assumed that it was due to some crazy dice rolls.

They want to know whether the tournament wil be over earlier than later I guess.

Man, Dreamhack is really interesting so far.

TLO crushed his group, going 3-0 (6-1 in games), beating Sase, Nerchio, and ForGG. Huk also went 3-0, 6-0 in games.

So, right now, players that have advanced to the top 16: TLO, Sase, Kas, Huk, Grubby, Leenock, Gumiho, Stephano, Verdi, Jaedong, Coca, Hyun, and Naniwa.

It looks like Zenio/Hero are still fighting for a spot, and Puzzle and SortOf are both tied in another group. Either way, looks like tomorrow could be crazy.

Also, Puzzle was picked up by KTRolster. Another former ESF powerhouse (albeit lapsed, with his ship jumping to LoL for a while) goes to KESPA.

*I don't know how to root for Naniwa. If he loses to Jaedong in the semis then the final is ZvZ with Leenock/Jaedong.

But I still don't want him to win. I'd rather watch ZvZ than see Naniwa in the finals of another tournament.

*Leenock gets himself a Dreamhack title

*The insane Code S Group B with Flash/Innovation/Life/Parting is tomorrow morning! 5am EDT.

Is there somewhere I can find the MLG WCS VODs in play order, because their OfficialMLGSC2 YouTube channel's organization is *dire*.

Check out this list at SC2links.com. If you hover over the "Reveal Match" text it shows you which players were involved. Just click the "Match #" on the left and it opens up the VOD for that match

*I won't spoil anything, I'll just say that Group B pretty much lived up to its potential.

*So, I haven't been watching the WCS NA Premiere league because I don't care, but the challenger league (Code A, essentially) qualifiers have been interesting so far. Nony and Jaedong are currently tied 1-1, Hendralisk took out Center, Puck beat Sage, and there's just generally a decent amount of foreigners winning and moving farther in the qualifiers over Koreans. Miya no-showed so Moosegills got a walkover, which is another foreigner moving on, albeit not in the greatest way

Hendralisk in particular is seeming like he was a very smart pickup for Complexity. Unfortunately for him he faces Taeja next, so that probably ends his run.

*If you want to have some fun, watch WCS America Premier RO32 Group D, starts with Suppy vs Heart followed by Ryung vs Hellokitty. Was a blast.

*I'm glad I can laugh at Idra's stupidity now. Although he did just give us one of the top 5 funniest commentator moments in all of SC2 history.

Well, he was pretty dead at that time. After a perfect early-mid game, he didn't do anything with the army/econ advantage he had and let Polt get to a great position in which he could defend an attack but also snipe far away expos.
Still, he should have at least a-moved all his units, remaxed once or twice and a-move again. I mean, if you're going to leave the game, you lose nothing by a-moving. And there's always the chance of the opponent messing up.

liquid wrote:

He wasn't dead, he was at a moderate disadvantage and momentum was swinging Polt's way but Idra still had a big army and options that could potentially have gotten him back into the game.

But seriously, nobody needs Idra anymore. Goswser should have replaced him as the US Zerg to root for months ago anyway. Maybe Shoutcraft America or WCS can finally make that happen. He just took game 1 off Revival. I hope he can either get really deep or just win one of them.
