Finished Any Games Lately?

Heart of the Swarm.

This series is turning into Dragonball Z.

At least the missions were fun and varied.

BioShock Infinite, Mega Man 2, Mega Man 3 all cleared in the last week.

I'll save the B:I talk for the appropriate threads. Loved the ending and I'm probably not going to get a certain Tears for Fear song out of my head any time soon.

Had a lot of fun going back to Mega Man 2 and 3 over the weekend. Such great games and an essential part of my childhood. Turning on "Game Mode" is vital, if you're playing these on an HDTV.

Not sure I get the DBZ reference, but Blizzard's writing on Wings of Liberty and Diablo III is reminiscent of a subpar Saturday morning cartoon. I need to go back and play some of the old stuff to see if this a recent thing or if I was desensitized to that style of narrative back in my teens when I played Starcraft and Diablo II. For a company that prides itself on their lore they really need to step it up in the writing department, or just cut the hubris and admit they're not offering much more than your average summer blockbuster flick.

At least two of the cutscenes were with Kerrigan flying through the air fighting someone while plasma shots were being fired off. I also believe she was thrown through walls at least once.

There was also a mission involving her and an ancient being battling with their magical energy beam powers across a giant chasm. Sadly there was no "Kamehamehaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!" screamed.

Sounds like Blizzard adhering to "Rule of Cool" as seems to be the case lately....

Ugh. This is what happens when you get people who grew up watching Dragonball Z trying to design video game cut scenes.

Just say NO to bad cartoons! Don't turn your children into one of these designers!

Kentucky Route 0 Act I which is delightfully weird, surreal, tense, and gorgeous with a great use of color, light, and limited detail in a nearly art deco poster fashion.

Really looking forward to the rest of the acts!

That game is high on my list of games to get soon, it looks amazing.

Just finished Bastion last night after having it in my steam library for about a year and not getting round to playing it. I'd been missing out! The narration all through it really set it apart and that's what made the game so amazing to me. Can't wait for Transistor.

Next up for me is Walking Dead.

I think I'm pretty much a year out of step with the rest of the world.

Okay, thanks Hyetal. Better get posting then!

Just finished Bioshock Infinite. That ending was just crazy! Still, it was one of the better games I've played over the past few years.

Quantum Conundrum. I think playing with a gamepad on a console was the way to go, as the dimension shifting was all handled by the 4 shoulder buttons. Made it much easier than I remember the PC demo.

A quote to help with readability for the time being.

I finished Bioshock Infinite last night, then stayed up until quarter to three reading about it. Thumbs Up.

Also, I now feel I can use the internet again.

Asura's Wrath is all finished. The game is a mix of anger, badass, and more anger. Did I mention the anger enough? The game itself was pretty simple, but it makes you feel pretty damn badass. Interestingly enough when I played the demo it was hard as nails, but I owned on the full game. I enjoyed it immensely and it was quite a ride.

Now the bad bit. I got the true ending which is a cliff hanger. I was wondering if their was more or something and it turns out they are making some dlc for the extra true ending or some nonsense. I'm renting so no way am I buying dlc just for a ending, and honestly that's just so ugh. Guess I'll watch it online when it's released. Really soured about that.

Dark Souls! Praise the Sun!

I think I'm at about 62-65 hours in on FFXIII. Played a bit today. Feel like I need to grind through to level up some of my weapons and accessories, though. So close! Congrats! How many hours did it take you?

About 55, IIRC. This was my second time playing through - I stalled out on the PS3, just before the end of the game, and I had an FAQ open for most of this playthrough.

I'm at the final boss battle stage 2. It's almost as bad as Ni No Kuni's. I'm sick of these terrible boss battles. After having a go at it 3 times, I've decided I'm done with this game.

God damn it.

A tip:
[spoiler]If you're not hitting it with Poison, do so. That apparently works wonders on it.[/spoler]

Portal 2
Finally. Almost as good as Portal.

Yay me!

Mega Man (PS2/NES) - Not as good as the next two games, but it's fun to see where a series started. Fortunately, the Elec Beam "pause" trick still works on the PS2 version so the last few areas weren't as hard as they could've been.

Finished this evening: Gravity Rush and Guacamelee. Both were fantastic games; I think I've had my fill of the former for a while, but I'll probably end up diving into the latter a bit more in a Hard play-through.

Spoiler:

What's with all the towel / unclothed scenes in Gravity Rush? Seriously...?

Tomb Raider goes down, and at 97% completion. Excellent game.

Now I have to decide if I want to go back and find those last few parts of the challenges. Stupid hidden mushrooms!

I finished Gravity Rush this weekend. Liked a lot of things about it. The open world is impressive, the missions are levels were fairly varied. The controls weren't as great as they could have been, meaning that after a while I ignored the challenge missions. I loved exploring each area and finding upgrade crystals, and the idea of fixing the city and restoring different parts of it appealed to me. The story was left wide open for a sequel, so I hope they're able to make one and polish the controls and other mechanical aspects that needed a bit more polish. Overall I'd definitely recommend it if you've got a Vita and for some reason didn't pick it up.

Mega Man IV (PS2/NES) - Pretty average as far as the NES Mega Man games go, although I've always liked this one. I think this marks where the series starts to shift toward more charge weapon + shoot gameplay.

I just finished this one as well, though with a much lower completion score. Not sure exactly, but probably around 70% - I only got about half of the collectibles. Might have to go back and do some more looking, but Far Cry 3 is calling my name...

Finished Tomb Raider with 100%. What a great experience. I felt like Uncharted 2 was the perfect length for this sort of game (~8 hours), but Tomb Raider padded that number a bit by adding in some more open areas and environmental platforming/puzzling. As a far of the more recent Tomb Raider games, I was happy to see that stuff still somewhat present.

I think that's next on my list, as well.

Finished XCOM today, after 2½ months break from it. It turned out I only had a few missions left.
Still not my type of game though. Fun in very short sessions, but felt repetitive after that.

Next up could be Crusader Kings 2, or maybe Shadows of the Colossus (started a bit on that one a week ago). Choices are hard

Well, down go Infamous and Morrowind's main quest.

Infamous was an enjoyable experience. I have very few complaints, really. Some dodgy targeting when it comes to the platforming aspects of the game were what most bothered me, but they were negligible issues, really. The ending was satisfying and, to be honest, I didn't see it coming. I liked that. Can't wait to get into the sequel, though I believe I'll be doing a few other games in the meantime.

As for Morrowind's main quest ending, well, it's somewhat better than Oblivion's, which really isn't saying much. For once, I wish Elderscrolls games had meatier endings. Maybe Skyrim's will be better? Well, still have the expansions to go through.

Spoiler:

Boobies!

Just knocked Max Payne 3 off the pile. Really enjoyed it, even though some parts were infuriating, and there were some unfair deaths. Some high highs and low lows, I suppose. The story was good, the acting was great, and the animation pretty amazing. Think I'll pick up the soundtrack too, since it, too, was really really good, especially in the last level.

Finished Dead Space 3 a couple of nights ago and the Awakened DLC last night. It was OK I guess but there is so much in that game that symbolises everything that's wrong with EA in their current incarnation. I'll probably write a blog post about it. While I do look forward to doing a New Game+ run in co-op, this game was a huge disappointment as a Dead Space game (that ending was so incredibly dumb) and the Awakened DLC was a ripoff. Short, shallow, full of recycled environments and takes the already dumb ending into an even dumber place.
