I watched part of it; Wave 3, it's the hack in the lab on the extraction side of Glacier. He doesn't stay in the circle, yet the hack progress bar moves forward. Uh, something seems quite not right here.

Edit: Never mind, checked the Bioware forums, it's apparently an exploitable glitch for the hack.

Yeah, evidently that's a thing. I didn't know about it either.

Glanton and I are online playing tonight if anyone else wants to join us.

Which systems can exploit it?

Any of you Best of the Besties have tips for the SMG and Pistol challenges? Both those look...not fun.

Who let drunken kexx out of his thread? There's a sign you know!

Thanks to Glanton, MilkmanDanimal and rykin for putting up with my ineptitude. Sorry if I was not very communicative; it was about 5am over here.

Went into the usual Giant/Reapers/Platinum last night. First wave, our Juggernaut quits, and he's immediately replaced by an idiot who runs down to the bottom of the map and dies. He stays down there, dying, nearly every wave doing just enough to keep from being booted (let it be noted that on Wave 6, he did activate the first device, which was at his feet). So it was essentially a three man crew, with no tank.

But we extracted! I didn't, because I got stabbed with ten seconds left, but the group did. It mostly came down to me and a Quarian Infiltrator who was doing serious work with a Kishock. I would describe it as ... exciting. And if you see a guy with the name "dementedzebra" or "deferentialzebra" or something similar, kick him.

Also, there seemed to be very few people online last night on 360. Hard to get a lobby, and it would throw you into the same lobby over and over. Hope it was a random thing, or because people stayed offline after yesterday's Live troubles.

I had some problems over this side of the ocean as well yesterday. There seemed to be very few people playing; I hope that this is a symptom of the Live issues, and not a reaction to the end of the challenges.

I stuck with silver for the most part, except in a lobby where the host changed it to gold and I didn't notice! No equipment, and playing the Collector, with who, I am not very experienced. I was just trying to do the points challenge for seeker swarm. I was carrying a crappy pistol too, for similar reasons. I still extracted, second place for points, so I think that I may actually be improving a little!

My last game had a player called "DasAryanSS" in it. I didn't exactly run across the map to rez that moron.

I'm not quite at best of the best but I've done both of those challenges recently. The SMG and Pistol challenges are tough for different reasons. With SMGs, most of the guns range from ok to terrible, but you only have to do 5 of them. Be sure to skip the Shuriken though. You can also do stasis bubble + any weapon you like and it will work fine, particularly on cerberus silver. The hurricane and hornet are the best of the SMGs but both have a lot of recoil, so you can finally use the 20+ recoil reducing mods you likely have saved up. Or play a turian or geth juggernaut.

There are a lot of good pistols and a lot of characters that work well with a pistol. You shouldn't have much trouble making it work. When in doubt, everything works on a turian ghost - cloak boosts damage from all weapons (except the final evolution which boosts assault rifles), you can go invisible and you're insanely durable.

The worst pistol is the predator, unsurprisingly, but there are a lot of good pistol mods. so even the predator isn't awful with the +40% damage boost (+50 weight) and armor piercing. And on the educational side, thanks to the pistol challenged I learned to appreciate the arc pistol and the acolyte. I really disliked the charge-before-shooting mechanic but both of those guns are strong once I figured it out.

I am amazed you were able to play at all. Xbox Live was down most of the day for me. I put some more time into ME1 Thankfully we can still play games when stuff like this happens this generation.

I wanted to reach through the internet and strangle an Infiltrator last night during a drone export mission. We had all 4 players working on the export but this guy kept cloaking causing the drone to stop moving every few seconds. We could have done it faster with just two people than we were able to do it with all four thanks to him.

In other news I may have finally figured out how to run the Talon Merc decently. Scored second in a bronze with two level 19's and a level 20 all engineer squad while I was level 8 (they were all under 100 in N7 though). Also it is super annoying to play that character when your mines glitch and don't explode. Sometimes the just don't explode but sometimes they do and leave the graphic in place. By the end of the match it looked like I had somewhere around 20 mines scattered around the map (which would be awesome).

Unlocked the Cabal last night. Anyone have a suggested build for her? From what I have seen I think she could be a fun Silver class but maybe not a gold worthy class.

Oh yea I saw an interesting character combination in effect last night as well. Juggernaut and Warlord using Heavy Melee and Biotic Smash together. Was working well on Silver so I wonder if it would be a good pairing for Platinum on Goddess.

There's an N7SPECOPS video of the Cabal in Platinum where thy use a 3/6/6/?/? build, but if you look at the guy's build now he's running 6/6/0/6/6, so I think there are a few options. I've played a few matches with a level 10 Cabal in Silver recently and so far I've been a bit frustrated by only having 2 blades (the only targeted damage option) and either the poison charge has to be really precisely aimed or the texture overlay doesn't always apply to poisoned enemies. All the charges get a bit weird in laggy games so its hard to say for sure. So I dunno. Interesting powers but pretty squishy and no sustained direct damage option. The charge makes for a good escape power though.

A pretty comprehensive character guide has been posted on the ME3 forums that has a few Cabal Vanguard builds.

That guide looks great. Thanks Dr. J.

That actually came from this thread which has a staggering amount of information on ME3 multiplayer.

It's not much of an exaggeration to say almost anything you wanted to know about the muliplayer is linked in that thread. Builds, guides, character colour patterns, game mechanics, spawn locations and rates, etc. It's all there.

You want all of the melee and power damage you can muster from your gun, and then barely use it.

Mine is something like this.

Mine, or again, something like it. I think Poison Strike is worthless. Her Blades attack is pretty nice. I was reading up on her and some people play her as a heavy melee character with good movement speed. I have used her on Gold and done ... fine, I guess. She's not that terrible.

That is an interesting idea.

Once again I completely disagree. :p I love the poison, and hate the stupid Blades, because they are limited, and you have to go hunt grenades. I skip the blades entirely. And for the poison strike, use the rank 6 that lets you double dash. Instead of being a 50% chance to skip like Vanguard charge, it's a guaranteed free dash every other time you use it. So I always keep her setup to do two strikes at a time. One into enemies, one out.

Her strong melee jump attack is also one of her best. I use it almost more than any powers.

She's great, and yes, even on gold.

I've had the most success using her as a hit-and-run shotgunner. If you have a Wraith at a decently high level (yes, I just said that :p) you can have a great shotgun while still having a very positive cooldown.

A melee build is fun on Silver, but not practical for Gold in my experience.

I'm sure there's a good build based around using the grenade power/powers in general, but I too tend to shy away from it.

Had fun noobin it up with some goodjers tonight. Thanks for the many revives!

New players should look here: http://social.bioware.com/forum/1/to...

I learned something new about a few soft spots from this today.

But Poison Strike does no damage. I would probably use one of the grenade-giving bonuses with her, though.

I was basically using her as a more nimble Batarian Soldier.

Got a Typhoon VIII last night. Anyone want to trade something decent for it? Maybe two Shotgun Amp IIIs?

I stopped playing multiplayer close to a year ago, but the recent Citadel DLC got me playing the game again. I finally got around to downloading all the mp updates and I'm really impressed with how much they've added. So far the only new character I've unlocked is the Geth Juggernaut, but it's interesting, really a different playstyle.

I've found it's nice to be able to use Poison Strike to jump behind bosses to shoot them in the back. Then rinse/repeat as soon as they've turned around. As for DOT builds in general... as long as you have a solid weapon they're totally viable. There's one Collector build floating around that skips the Swarm skill and focuses entirely on DOT damage, for example.

I had fun playing with you. Hadn't played in about 2 weeks, I think.

Yeah, thanks for the excuse to shake some of the dust off.

I apologise for passing on my banshee sync kill virus to you all.

4/4 was quite an effort

I think I need another break from this.

Hey guys, I think I'm finally ready to take the plunge. If anyone's willing to take a rookie through the ropes this weekend on PC, please let me know. Origin ID is SgtZappa.

Sorry for the flaky internet due to the storm tonight guys. Sadly after y'all left I started up another match and about halfway through the power flickered off again. Off to research UPSs
