It's great that so many people are playing, but maybe when we announce it we should clarify which of the three platforms we're playing on. :P

i assume everyone is pc unless otherwise specified :)

I assume that as well. from all reports this is NOT a game you want to play on a console.

I wouldn't see why- aside from some login issues the first two days I've been having a wonderful time.
PCs are for work, not gaming.

I'm Karmajay in game (PC)

mine does both quite well. my console does not.

Mine also does both splendidly. My console on the other hand can't be used for work and lags pretty far behind my PC in quality for gaming as well.

Don't get me wrong- I use my pc for both as well, but only if I want to play a game and it's not available on a console. I'm not a masochist.

i dont play games on a console that you can on a pc for the same reason

Not to debate the merits of console vs PC gaming (this isn't really the thread for that), but I have been gaming on PCs well before I ever used them for work. Other then sports and platformers, I tend to buy games on PC first if available and save the console for the games where a controller is the best option.

Ran if you have time can you throw player names into the original post. I can already feel the loneliness in game

I'm Fayyde in game if anyone wants to add me. Went through and started friending you guys. I'm also on PC.

I find it nearly impossible to communicate in this game. The chat window is hidden by default, and even names are turned off unless you are using the healing gun.

Everyone is pretty much a purple dot on the map.

Any suggestions for social? I've added a few friends, but beyond seeing them on the Friend list its nearly impossible to group?

Anyone know HOW to chat? Like, how to send a tell? I've tried every command I can think of but I don't think it's ever worked, or Ranalin got a lot of "Hi" tells from me and I got zero feedback from the system that I did it right (or wrong).

If you did this around the same time you did the friend invite it may have been due to me being in a pvp match. I noticed the invite in between rounds, but didnt see anything during.

I had just finished Madera pursuits and was doing pvp matches before calling it the day.

My original comment had nothing to do with being anti console. The comment was that the PC was the way to play THIS game because the console versions are reported to be far inferior and way more broken.

I know. While I do prefer the ease of consoles over pc, for the most part I was just joking, and then other people starting jumping in. In terms of the different versions of the game though, the only real differences I've seen have been graphical and considering that my favorite game on pc has graphics circa 1992 (minecraft), clearly that's not a dealbreaker for me.

So I am stuck on a bugged story quest in Sausilito. Can't unlock any more side quests or nothin. Big Bummer. Since its server wide (says the 20 other people around the spot also complaining) I imagine they will fix it soooner than later. Still a big bummer though.

They're supposed to be rolling out a big patch in a couple days that *they say* will fix a lot of the bugged quests.

I'm enjoying it so far, I like the premise and the method. Still pretty lonely though. Hope they fix the social aspect of it.

Concerning, EGO perks, I was upgrading them but didn't realize for quite awhile you had to equip them!

Any good info sites atm? Are the co-op maps dungeons? Do you need to be in a group or does it auto put you in a group?

I use

Yes, co-op maps are "dungeons" It does auto group you. They are lots of fun as well.

Me also - now the next trick is learning how to put mods on my weapons

Fudge! Added 98 codes. Started having a problem and I reloaded page and now it says 0/120 codes.

Same thing happened to me at about the same point... They did reappear later that night, though, and I was able to enter the rest without consequence.

The loot gear is this games biggest failure. Its a hot mess.

And how. 400-dmg-per-bullet LMGs are far and away the best DPS - I fought in a scrapper arkfall this afternoon in San Francisco and was #1 in damage by a factor of 2x (1.1 million versus about 574k for the #2 guy). They do tons of damage and just ... keep ... firing, especially with the extended mag.

The fast-recharge shields are also far better than the slow recharge shields with more points. A 1500 dmg shield that recharges only when you've been out of combat for 10 seconds is virtually useless if you're solo - ironically due to the great mob AI that has them constantly trying to flank and squeeze you in. Rebel or Respark is the way to go, simply because it actually gets a chance to recharge in combat, and I still use a BMG to supplement (if you haven't figured this out yet, carrying a BMG as a secondary weapon allows you to heal/recharge at will).

Aaaand just finished the main story line.

Spoiler:

What an excellent boss fight. I BMG'd him through the first two phases, and then alternated with the LMG and BMG on the final phase. Three deaths, very exciting and challenging without being stupid hard, good visual and audio signals on the dangerous stuff like the sword throwers up top and the crystal things.

I found the ending reasonably satisfying, in fact I kinda liked the whole storyline. It's a lot like the rest of the game, not amazing but serviceable and with memorable characters and a memorable world. I think they've got something they can work with here if the show is even halfway decent.

I had a 300 EGO rating before I realized that.

For co-op it will group you. You can also form your own group and run around in the general world of play co-op missions.

Some sites I've found that are pretty good:

Ego Caluclator
Defiance Junkies.
Arkfalls.com

I found this guide for modding really helpful.

Two hour pilot episode tonight, I really hope it ends up being decent.

They sure are promoting the crap out of it. I am seeing it everywhere and the stars have been all over the talk show and morning news circuit.

Really digging the game so far. Agree with others here though, it seems like a single player game with lots of people running around. I hope they improve the chat , and it would be nice if there was a central location for players to get together. The game needs a core city or hangout spot. Unless its there and I just missed it.

But the game play is fun and I'm really enjoying the story and Episode missions. The arkfall events are a blast as well. Kinda makes me want to play some rift again too

Looking forward to show tonight !
